A Study on the Cleaning Characteristics according to the process gas of Low-Pressure Plasma (저압 플라즈마 세정가스에 따른 세정특성 연구)

  • A silicon oxide cleaning characteristic and its mechanism were studied in RF plasma cleaning system with various gases such as $CHF_3$, $CF_4$, Argon, oxygen and mixing gas. The experimental parameters - working pressure (100 mTorr), RF power (300 W, 500 W), electrode distance (5cm, 8cm, 11.5cm), cleaning time (90, 180 seconds), gas flow (50 sccm) were fixed to compare cleaning efficiency by gas types. The results were as follows. First, the argon plasma is retaining only physical sputtering effect and etch rate was low. Second, the oxygen plasma showed good cleaning efficiency in electrode distace of 5cm, 300W, 180secs, but surface roughness increased. Third, $CF_4$ Plasma could get the best cleaning efficiency. Fourth, $CHF_3$ plasma could know that addition gas that can lower the CFx/F ratio need. We could not get good cleaning efficiency in case of added argon to $CHF_3$. But, we could get good cleaning efficiency in case added oxygen.

Antimicrobial Activities of Urushiol and Urushiol Derivatives (우루시올 및 우루시올 유도체의 항균 활성)

  • Pacquer traditionally has been used to varnish. Many reports have revealed that lacquer has durability and antimicrobial activities. Therefore, we expect that lacquer will be used as a good antifouling agent to solve the environmental problem. Here we chemically synthesized urushiol, a major component in lacquer and two urushiol derivatives, urusiol regioisomer and cardanol. We also analyzed the antimicrobial activities of these molecules to examine the inhibitory effect on the formation of the biofilms. Our results showed that synthesized urushiol and its derivatives have strong antifungal activities. Urushiol also exhibited inhibitory effect on the growth of gram positive bacteria specifically. However urushiol derivatives have low antibacterial activities.

  • The aim of study was to suggest a methodology for applying cleaner production technology in dyeing & finishing process of textile materials. To accomplish cleaner production, we performed consulting activity in dyeing factory, which composed of following different procedures. First, we organized consulting team with specialists for dyeing, energy and chemicals, and visited dyeing companies for the purpose of doing basic investigation such as analysis of process, chemicals & effluents, condition of equipment and process flow of products. Environmental aspect of raw materials (dyestuff, chemicals) was assessed by TOC, COD, BOD, and effluent of that was assessed by TOC, COD, BOD, TDS and pH. Second, We find out the problems in dyeing&finishing process from the view point of dyeing process, energy, raw materials and process management by utilizing MB (material balance), LCA(Life Cycle Assessment), EB(Energy Balance). Third, we generated the solutions to achieve optimal process condition by brain storming method, and then implemented the solutions to each process. Finally, we determined their effectiveness after considering the results of repeating trials for the solutions. Cleaner production could be achieved by keeping optimal process conditions, equipment modification, improved production management, and on-site reuse or recycling.

  • Currently, there are the technologically urgent needs of fabricating the hyper coal (HC) based on the approach to extracting mainly effective organics from low rank coals (LRCs), because some industrial countries pursue global sustainability dealing with hot issues such as local energy supply security as well as global warming. In this study, as of the fabrication of clean HCs via LRCs upgrading, we comprehensively review the R&D status of two solvent extraction technologies, namely, Ohm heating (OH) and microwave irradiation (MI) extraction processes on the basis of the performance indicator such as a HC extraction yield.

  • 청정개발체제(CDM)란 '기후변화의 부정적 효과 완화'와 '개도국의 지속 가능한 발전 지원'이라는 기후변화협약의 양대 목표를 비용 효과적으로 이행하기 위해 교토의정서에 마련된 수단이다. CDM은 선진국인 부속서 I 국가와 이에 해당하지 않는 비(非)부속서(non-Annex) I 국가 즉 개도국이 배출감축을 위해 공동으로 노력하고 그 결과 창출된 온실가스 감축 분을 이 두 그룹 국가간에 배분되도록 한 제도다. 즉 선진국은 개도국에 자본과 기술을 투자하여 온실가스 저감사업을 벌이고 이 과정에서 발생한 온실가스 배출감축 분을 자국의 감축실적(credits)으로 인정받게 되고, 개도국은 이 과정에서 기술이전 및 재정지원의 혜택을 받을 수 있게 되어 있다. CDM은 따라서 세계 대다수의 국가가 직 간접으로 영향을 받지 않을 수 없을 것이며, 이로 인해 CDM의 구체적 실천 방안을 둘러싸고 각 국간의 이해 관계가 좀처럼 좁혀지기 어려운 상황이다. 이에 따라 지난해 부에노스 아이레스에서 개체되었던 COP-4에서는 CDM 체제를 비롯한 기후변화협약의 핵심 쟁점사항을 오는 2001년(또는 2002년)에 개체될 COP-6까지 일괄 타결키로 한 부에노스 아이레스 행동계획을 채택하는 데 그쳤다. CDM이 향후 어떤 형태로 결정되는 가에 따라 우리 나라가 받는 영향도 상당한 차이가 날 것이다. 따라서 CDM의 전개 방향을 면밀히 주시하고 이에 대한 대응책 마련이 절실히 요구되고 있다.

  • 종래에는 공조덕트의 소음 감소를 위하여 주로 흡음재료를 사용하여 왔다. 그러나 이러한 흡음재료를 이용한 소음감소대책은 500HZ 이상의 고주파 영 역에서는 효과가 있으나 500HZ 이하의 저주파 영역에서는 효과가 적다. 이 러한 500HZ이하의 저주파 소음은 각종 구조물의 진동을 야기시켜 정밀작업 이 요구되는 작업환경을 파괴하고, 심지어는 구조물에 손상을 입힐수도 있 다. 또한 이러한 저주파 소음에 노출된 사람의 심리를 불안하게 하여 일의 효율을 떨어뜨릴 뿐만 아니라 청력장애를 일으키기도 한다. 또한 청정환경이 요구되는 곳에서의 소음감소를 위하여 흡음재료를 사용할 경우 흡음재료로 부터 떨어져 나오는 미세분에 의해 청정환경의 보존이 어려워진다. 이러한 흡음재료를 이용한 수동소음제어 대책의 단점을 해결하기 위하여 소음을 그 소음과 동일한 진폭을 갖으며 위상차가 180도인 인위적인 음파로 상쇠시키 는 능동소음제어대책의 개발이 요구되어 왔다. 본 논문은 덕트 또는 이와 유 사한 음향환경내에서의 적응필터기법(adaptive filtering technique)을 이용한 능동소음제어방법의 개발, 실제구현 및 성능평가에 관한 것으로서, 특히 다 수의 에러 마이크로폰과 다수의 소음제어용 스피커를 사용하여 제어계통의 가관측성(Observability)및 가제어성(Controllability)을 향상시켜 평면파로 전 달되는 소음의 감소를 증대시킬수 있을 뿐만 아니라 고차모드(Higher-order mode)로 전달되는 소음의 제어도 가능케하는 능동소음제어 방법에 관하여 논하였다.

  • With regard to the personnel safety and other safety when the gas suppressants are discharged into the area where occupants exist, the short term and long term effects to the health of people are discussed mainly with the Carbon dioxide agent and Halon Replacement agents system. To gain the benefits of CO2 extinguishing systems while minimizing risk to people serious attention must be given to personnel safety in the design, installation, and maintenance of CO2 systems. Training of personnel is essential. A major factor in the use of a clean agent fire suppressant in a normally occupied area is toxicity. While all halocarbon agents are tested for long-term health hazards, the primary endpoint is acute or short-term exposure, The primary acute toxicity effects of the halocarbon agents described here are anesthesia and cardiac sensitization. For inert gases, the primary physiological concern is reduced oxygen concentration.

  • 고전단력을 갖도록 개발된 Homogenizer를 이용해 IFO 380cst Bunker-C 시료를 미립화 및 균질화하는 전처리를 시행하였다. 전처리된 시료의 슬러지 저감효과를 확인하기위하여 유청정기(oil purifier)를 이용하였고, 실험결과 약 13% 가량 슬러지 생성이 감소하는 것을 확인하였다. 또한, 전처리 후 유청정기를 통과한 시료를 실제 보일러 시스템에서 연소시켜 연소 성능 특성을 확인한 결과 CO가 감소하는 경향을 확인하였다. 선박운항비용 분석을 통해 U.L.C.C 기준 연 8,800만원 가량의 연료비 절감 효과가 있을 것으로 추정된다.

  • The operating variables of a desorption step were experimentally investigated tor the cycle of the process made up of benzene adsorption, steam desorption, and drying step. The effect of adsorbent regeneration depending on existence and nonexistence of drying step was studied by breakthrough curves obtained in the adsorption step of the second cycle. The duration of drying step was determined by the experimental results. In case that the amount of nitrogen gas was fixed, the regeneration efficiency increased with the amount of steam. However, the effect of steam decreased as the amount of nitrogen increased. Therefore, it would be possible to predict the optimum amount of steam comparing the amount of nitrogen gas with amount of steam in economic view.

  • The concentration process of 2-ethyl hexanol used for the intermediate material in the production of plasticizer is examined for the energy conservation of energy-efficient distillation system instead of the conventional two column system through numerical simulation. Some 41 % of energy conservation is expected from the proposed system, and its conservation principle is explained with column profiles. In addition, not only the operating cost but also investment cost can be reduced for the additional benefit of the column application when the thermally coupled distillation is implemented.
