To this end, we used the 6th Year (2016) adolescents survey data of 1,329 multicultural adolescents from the Multicultural Adolescents Panel Survey(MAPS), which was constructed by the National Youth Policy Institute(NYPI). Using SPSS 22.0, frequency analysis, descriptive statistical analysis, and moderated multiple regression analysis were used as dependent variables for school adjustment of multicultural adolescents, as independent variables for school adjustment, and as moderating variables for teacher support. As a result, first, multicultural adolescents experienced acculturation stress, and school adjustment decreased as the acculturation stress increased. Second, teacher support was found to have a statistically significant moderating effect on the effects of acculturation stress on school adjustment of multicultural adolescents. Based on the results of this research, I discussed and suggested the supportive measures, the role of teachers, and follow-up research to reduce the acculturation stress of multicultural adolescents and increase the level of school adjustment.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between parental psychological control and adolescent school adjustment mediated by hope of adolescents. Four hundred three middle and high school students participated in this study. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, Pearson's correlations, structural equation modeling(SEM), and multi group analysis. The average level of school adjustment was significantly higher in male adolescent group compared to female adolescent group. Adolescents' hope partially mediated the relationship between parental psychological control and adolescents' school adjustment. The proposed model was not significantly different as a function of gender. These results suggest that adolescents' school adjustment could be improved by reducing levels of parental psychological control and enhancing adolescents' hope.

  • Drawing on third to fifth wave data from the Longitudinal Study of North Korean Migrant Youths' Education, we examined the longitudinal relationship between social capital of North Korean Migrant Youths and school adjustment using latent growth modeling(LGM). Specifically, we sought to answer the following research questions: Do social capital and school adjustment among North Korean Migrant Youths change over time? Is there a relationship between the changes in social capital and school adjustment among these students? Our LGM results showed that trends in social capital and school adjustment among these students were not fixed but changed over time. While the social capital developed by these students was found to influence school adjustment at the time of its development, it did not continue to influence changes in school adjustment over time. Changes in school adjustment of North Korean migrant youths were affected by changes in social capital. These results suggest that there is room for gradual improvement of school adjustment level by strengthening social capital of North Korean migrant youths.
