  • The participants of steel works should exchange a variety of information with others through documents. However construction steel works in the multistage contract system has a difficulty in exchanging information through the documents promptly. So if the trouble as change orders arise, conducting steel works will take much time, and the participants may not discuss the trouble sufficiently. Consequently this study improved the current business process of steel works. And this developed business support system(XCOS) based on XML so that participants of steel works achieve a successful management of steel works through conducting business rapidly and correctly.

Calculation of Non-Working Days due to Weather Factors during Structural Steel Works (기후요소에 의한 철골공사 작업불가능일 산정에 관한 연구)

  • Calculating non-working days is very important element for the accurate estimation of construction time. And non-working days are largely affected by weather factors such as rainfall, wind velocity, snowfall and temperature. In the case of concrete works, there are lots of referable information for the calculation of non-working days due to the weather factors. However, for the structural steel works, there are very limited information only. Through literature survey and interviews with a few engineers, this paper established the weather factors that affect steel structural works and the impact of those factors. Based on the factors and the expected impact of the factors together with the weather data during the last 15 years in Seoul region gathered from Korea Meteorological Administration, this paper suggests the monthly non-working day of structural steel work due to weather factors. This information can be used for the early estimation of construction time.

  • As higher and bigger buildings, steel structure is so for a basic building structure. Quality management of the steel frame work is started from pre plan phase. And classification and relation of works is very important in quality management. The purpose of this study is developing a quality management model for the better quality management in a steel frame work. This model consider a interrelationship of works and $input^{\circ}{\S}utput$ information, and based on the actual condition of current quality management.

  • As the scale of building construction is larger and more complex, accident is increasing on the steel structure work process. But Safety-Inspection has been carried out through many other checklists in the workplace, it hasn't been used actively. Because checklist wasn't written at the level of specific work and applied scope is Insufficient. So, we must grasp accidental cause about detailed work for making safety management checklist accurately. For this study, we are confining a range to steel structure work of all the building construction. We will classify steel structure process into the detailed work for preventing accident. And we will grasp accidental cause about detailed work for developing the checklist in the future.

  • Deck plates have been widely used for steel framework due to their merits in terms of schedule reduction and work repetition. For this reason, most of the previous studies related to deck plates have focused on the development of form type and their constructability. In this study, through an actual case study and interviews with experts, a simulation model was developed using the CYCLONE method. Based on this model, this study not only analyzed the productivity of the work process of the deck plate in steel framework, but also identified the occurrence of idle time in the work process. In addition, using a sensitivity analysis, productivity and duration could be analyzed according to variation of input resources. Based on the results, this paper suggests a way to improve the productivity of deck plate work in steel frameworks. Using the model, it is expected that project managers would be able to predict the productivity and total duration of the deck plate work in the early project phase, which will enable managers to make an appropriate plan for input resources.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a supporting tool for efficient management, at preconstruction phase, of the schedule risk that is able to generate at construction phase. The main contents of this study to develop a practical tool are as follows. First steel work was selected as a relevant trade and a risk breakdown structure focused on the process of steel work having large effect on total construction process was made. Secondly, the work flow considering schedule risk factor was made and schedule risks that must be managed preferentially through analyzing the grade of importance for risk was selected. Finally, based on above two procedure, the management form for schedule risk was developed It is necessary to accumulate abundant data for schedule risk for other construction process and to develop a manual and a schedule risk management system.
