양모의 기능가공의 원리와 문제점

  • 최근의 합성섬유에 있어서 고기능화는 이전의 천연섬유 지향에 탈피하여 독자의 기능을 가지는 새로운 섬유로의 전개로서 "신합섬"이 등장하였다. 소비자의 요구는 천연섬유의 기능성 요구하면서도 기볍고, 얇고, 부드럽고, drape성이 좋고 발색성이 양호한 섬유를 요구하고 있다. 더우기 각종 견뢰성이 우수하고 easy care하지 않으면 안된다. 이와 같은 요즘의 소비자요구의 고급화, 다양화를 생각할 때 wool에 고부가가치르 부여하는 일을 생각하지 않을 수 없다. 그래서 소비자에게 impact를 주고 message를 첨가한 제품을 제안하지 않으면 안될 것이다. 현재는 Price의 시대로부터 value 시대로의 변혁의 시기에 있다는 것을 인식하여야 한다. 양모섬유는 그 자신, 원래, 다종기능을 갖춘 섬유이며 건강유지에는 이상적이라고 말하는 의류소재라는 것은 잘 알고 있지만 그 지능을 강조하는 가공, 그 기능을 일부 희생시켜서라도 새로운 기능을 부가하는 가공, 종애의 가공기술을 개량, 혁신을 진행시켜 가는 것이 중요하다. 이들 가공기술면의 문제와 동시에 design 및 양모의 기능의 PR을 포함한 판매전략의 새로운 전개도 중요 괴제이다.도 중요 괴제이다.

  • 과학기술의 진보는 천연 고분자물질을 대체하는 새로운 기능을 갖는 합성 플라스틱의 개발을 촉진시켰으며, 합성 플라스틱이 갖는 독특한 물성, 안정된 공급, 싼가격 그리고 제조 및 가공의 용이성 등의 장점으로 인해 천연소재의 한계와 제약으로부터 벗어날 수 있었고, 플라스틱을 중심으로 다양한 고분자물질이 개발되어 현대 과학문명의 한 특징중의 하나인 "플라스틱 문명"을 구축해 왔다고 할 수 있다. 그러나 대부분 현재 상품화 되어 있는 플라스틱은 사용 후 분해되지 않고 반영구적이기 때문에 사용된 폐 플라스틱에 의한 환경오염문제가 심각한 사회문제로 대두되고 있다. 따라서 사용시 편리성 및 내구성만을 비약적으로 향상시킨 합성 플라스틱을 대체할 수 있는, 사용후 붕괴 또는 분해되어 자연의 순환사이클로 흡수됨으로써 환경 오염의 문제를 배제할 수 있는 "생분해성 플라스틱" 내지는 좀더 넓은 의미인 "생분해성 고분자물질"이라는 새로운 기능을 가진 고분자물질에 대한 사회적인 요구가 급속히 높아가고 있다.분자물질에 대한 사회적인 요구가 급속히 높아가고 있다.

  • 섬유강화 복합재료의 사용이 점점 증가함에 따라 구조용 및 내장재 등으로 사용된 수명이 다한 섬유강화 복합재료의 사용후 폐기가 문제가 되고 있다. 특히, 자동차 부품, 건축자재 및 전기절연재 등으로 가장 많이 사용되는 유리섬유 복합재료의 폐기물이 급격히 증가하여 환경 오염문제가 심각해지고 있어서, 환경 친화적인 새로운 복합재료에 대한 필요성이 제기되어 왔다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 천연섬유를 이용한 천연섬유/생분해성 수지계 복합소재를 대상으로 환경적합성이 우수하고 자연환경에서 완전한 생분해성을 가지며, 유리 섬유복합재료를 대체할 물성이 우수한 새로운 Biocomposite를 개발하고자 하였다.   • South Asian's growing obsession with fair skin has made the cosmetic industry into a multibillion-dollar trade over the last decade alone. With reports of toxicity and potential mutagenicity of conventional skin lightening agents, cosmetic industries are looking for plant-based skin whitening formulations. In this review some potential depigmentation agents from South Asian region are discussed, including their historical background, biochemical characteristics and recent findings on their depigmenting activity.

  • Zinc ion containing thiuram type accelerator zinc dibutyldithiocarbamate (ZDBC) was compared to other thiuram type accelerators (tetramethylthiuram disulfide (TMTD) and dipentamethylenethiuram tetrasulfide (DPTT)) in silica filled natural rubber (NR) compound upon vulcanization and mechanical properties (modulus, tensile strength, and elongation %). ZDBC added compound showed the fastest cure time (t10) and the highest reinforcement index (R.I.) among them and showed a marching behavior. The mechanism was reviewed and a new mechanism was proposed.

Study on the storage stability of the white internal organs using natural materials (천연소재를 활용한 백내장의 저장성 증진 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the ability of natural antioxidants as stabilizers for meat by-products to prevent lipid oxidation. The white internal organs were evaluated using different treatments: no antioxidant (control), ascorbic acid (T1), Artemisiacapillaris Thunb. (T2), Opuntia (T3), Schisandra chinensis (T4), and Saururuschinensis (Lour.) Baill (T5). Antioxidant activities were analyzed by measuring DPPH contents, superoxide anion radical levels, nitrate scavenging activities, and total polyphenol contents. T1 and T2 showed higher antioxidant activities and total polyphenol contents (p<0.05). Additionally, changes in physicochemical properties (pH, color, volatile basic nitrogen [VBN], and thiobarbituric acid reactive substances [TBARS]) and microbiological aspects in white internal organs processed with antioxidants were investigated. As storage time increased, the CIE $a^*$ and $b^*$ values of the white internal organs processed with natural antioxidants were decreased (p<0.05), and CIE $L^*$ values were low, particularly for the T3 sample relative to that in the control. Moreover, the pH, VBN, and TBARS values of samples T2-T5 were increased after 7 days of storage, but showed low values compared with those of the control (p<0.05). Moreover, compared with the control group, the treatments showed antimicrobial effects. Our results indicated that these natural antioxidants could be used as lipid oxidation stabilizers of meat by-products during storage and that Artemisiacapillaris Thunb. and Opuntia may have applications as natural antioxidants in the meat by-product industry.

The Antibacterial Effects of Oriental Medicinal Herbs on Bacteria Isolated from Contaminated Beverages (오염된 음료에서 분리된 세균에 대한 한약재의 항균성)

  • The use of synthetic additives for preservation and enhancement of the market quality of food products has been emerging as a societal issue in terms of safety as well as changes in consumption patterns. Various research related to natural additives is being conducted to address these issues. This study examined the antibacterial effects of 79 types of medicinal herbs used as oriental remedies on bacteria isolated from beverages of damaged marketable quality. The antibacterial effects of methanol extracts on 13 Bacillus sp. and three Paenibacillus sp. were evaluated. We found that 43 of the herbal medicines analyzed had antibacterial effects on the isolated bacteria. Of those, eight were selected, and their antibacterial effects were further examined using water, ethanol, methanol, and ethyl acetate as solvents. The results revealed that Prunus mume, Rhus javanica, and Coptis japonica had excellent antibacterial effects against the isolated bacteria. In particular, they exerted greater antibacterial effects when water and ethanol were used as solvents. This result indicates the possibility of developing natural additives using these substances. Since P. mume in particular, has not been sufficiently studied compared to other herbal medicines, it presents an opportunity for additional investigation and the possibility for development as a new product in the future.

Effect of Botanical Antimicrobial Agent-Citrus Products on the Quality Characteristics during Kimchi Fermentation (식물성 천연항균소재를 첨가한 김치의 숙성 중 품질변화)

  • To develop natural antimicrobial agents for extending the self-life of Kimchi, the effect of botanical antimicrobial agent-citrus products(BAAC) on microorganisms related to Kimchi spoilage was investigated. The inhibitory effect of BAAC on microorganisms related to Kimchi spoilage was increased according to the concentration of BAAC. Antimicrobial activities of BAAC against microoiganisms related to Kimchi spoilage were remarkably high. The effect of BAAC on the cellular membrane function of microorganisms showed the perturbation of cells in the presence of BAAC. Direct isualization of microbial cells by using both transmission md scanning electron microscope showed microbial cell membrane was destroyed by treating with BAAC. It could be confirmed that BAAC completely inhibit the growth of the test strains. The pH of BAAC-added Kimchi was a little higher than that of the control through the fermentation period. Titratable acidify, vitamin C and viable cells in BAAC-added Kimchi were changed more slowly than those in the control. Sensory evaluation did not show any significant difference between $0.01\%$ BAAC-added Kimchi and the control that showed the best palatabilities during fermentation.

  • It has been shown that BF-7 enhances short- and long-term memory and attention in normal person. BF-7 was addressed to clinical study for children if BF-7 is also effective to children, since accumulated verification of safety and effectiveness is needed for young ages, in special. We administered BF-7 and a placebo control to two different groups of children (7-12 years old, 9.78 on averages). Their memory enhancement was tested with Rey-Kim Memory Test for Children before and after the administration of BF-7 and a placebo, in a double blinded way. The results showed that long- and short-term memories were significantly improved by the administration of BF-7. Interestingly, the degree of memory preservation, the ability of memory application and awareness of complex thing were also significantly improved. These results indicate that BF-7 is a promising substance from natural resource improving learning and memory of children as well as cognitive function of adults

Antioxidative Activities and Whitening Effects of Ethanol Extract from Crataegus pinnatifida Bunge Fruit (아가위 열매 에탄올 추출물의 항산화 및 미백 효능)

  • This study investigated the antioxidative activity and whitening efficacy of Crataegus pinnatifida Bunge fruit 70% ethanol extract (CFE). The total polyphenol contents of CFE was 61.31 mg/g, and the total flavonoid contents was 25.42 mg/g. The electron donating ability of CFE at a concentration of $1,000{\mu}g/mL$ was 85.80%. The ABTS radical scavenging activity, and reducing power of CFE at a concentration of $1,000{\mu}g/mL$ were 17.3% and 0.31, relatively. The maximum permissible levels of CFE in melanoma cells were $100{\mu}g/mL$. CFE at $50{\mu}g/mL$ reduced melanin contents by 8.5%. CFE at $1,000{\mu}g/mL$ reduced intracellular tyrosinase activity by 46.83%. Collectively, the results of this study suggest that CFE effectively inhibited tyrosinase activity, whereas melanin synthesis was weak. These results suggest that Crataegus pinnatifida Bunge fruit could be used as a whitening agent and antioxidant resources for functional foodstuffs, cosmetics, and beauty industrial materials.
