  • 본 고에서는 CNG차량에 대한 해외의 동향과 자동차 대체연료로서의 CNG의 특성 및 CNG차량에 대한 구조, 성능 및 안전성에 대하여 검토 소개한다. 근년 자동차용 대체연료로서의 관점은 저공해성이 중요하게 부각되고 잇다. 이에 따라 국내의 대도시환경오염 방지를 위한 한가지 방안으로서 CNG의 채용이 활발하게 논의되어오고 있다.

  • According with annual report by the OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development), South Korea is at the top of the list of countries with bad air pollution (fine dust particles) and the South Korean government announced the cause to be due to the particle emissions of large and old diesel vehicles. To solve this issue, the government (jointly with related ministries), promoted the "Special Measures for Comprehensive Fine Dust Management Program" as a way to improve environmental pollution by reducing the overall output of fine dust particles emitted by public vehicles. The measure implemented a gas subsidy system to convert eco-friendly vehicles of city and chartered buses throughout the country. In this study, we take a look at the economical evaluation, comparison and analysis of the conversion of diesel vehicles to natural gas (CNG) vehicles. This report represent the basis for the need to expand the funds of the subsidy program and reviews the feasibility of the policy by taking into consideration the social and economical benefits and the effect in the environment when converting diesel fuel to natural gas vehicles through the type-specific fuel conversion scenarios.

  • For the prevention of air pollution, the CNG vehicles have been supplied since 2006. The spread of CNG vehicles has decreased the level of air pollution. Declared goals of Korean Ministry of Environment (ME) are to supply CNG city bus by 90% by 2012. CNG bus explosion has exacerbated commuters' safety concerns, it has caused the barrier to the installation of CNG station. In this study, the sensor was installed for the safety improvement of CNG station. When new sensors were installed, a problem was encountered by a line of communication. To solve the installation problem, we carried out the monitoring of data communication network by USN technology.

  • Recently, most of the energy consumed in vehicle is derived from fossil fuels. For this reason, the demand for clean, renewable and affordable alternative energy is forcing the automotive industry to look beyond the conventional fossil fuels. Natural gas represents today a promising alternative to conventional fuels for vehicles propulsion, because it is characterized by a relatively low cost, better geopolitical distribution than oil, lower environmental impact, higher octane number and a higher self ignition temperature. Above all, CNG is an environmentally clean alternative to the existing spark ignition engines with the advantages of minimum change. In this study was installed bi-fuel system that a conventional 2 liters gasoline engine was modified to run on natural gas by a gas injection system. Experiments were mainly carried on the optimization of an ECU control strategy affecting the emission characteristics of CNG/Gasoline bi-fule vehicle. The test results shown that CO2 emission in bi-fuel mode was reduced 16% compared to gasoline fuel in the NEDC mode. Also the amount of CO and HC emissions in bi-fuel and gasoline modes were found to equality. But Compared to gasoline, the bi-fuel mode resulted in higher NOx emissions.

  • In the present study, investigations were carried out to obtain data on combustion characteristics of methane gas and hydrogen supplemented methane gas in a constant volume combustion chamber. The main results obtained from the study can be summarized as follows. The maximum combustion pressure increases as the initial pressure and hydrogen supplement rate increase, the total burning time is shorten by lowering the initial pressure and by increasing the hydrogen supplement rate. The maximum flame temperature and NO concentration increase by the initial pressure and hydrogen supplement rate increase. The flame propagation processes in near stoichiometric mixture are propagated with a spherical shape, but in excess rich or lean mixtures are propagated with a elliptical shape. And, they are changed an unstable elliptical shape flame with very regular cells by increasing the hydrogen supplement rate.

  • 전 세계적으로 대표적인 대중교통으로 천연가스버스가 운행 중에 있으며, 천연가스의 저장을 위하여 대부분의 차량이 복합용기를 사용하고 있다. 또한 친환경자동차로 개발되고 있는 수소연료전지자동차도 수소 저장용으로 복합용기를 적용하여 상용화를 추진 중에 있다. 복합용기의 상용화가 증가하면서 복합용기의 안전성 확보가 가장 중요한 이슈가 되고 있다. 기체상태의 고압가스를 교통수단에 적용하기 위하여, 저장매체인 고압복합용기의 안전성 및 기술 확보를 위한 기술개발과 안전기준의 확립을 위한 기준개발이 미국, 유럽, 일본 등 다수의 국가에서 진행되고 있다. 현재 복합용기의 안전성을 확인하는 기준은 각 나라의 기준에 따라 진행되고 있으며 천연가스자동차용 저장용기 국제표준으로는 ISO 11439가 적용되고 있다. 수소연료전지자동차용 수소용기의 안전기준은 아직 확립되지 않은 상태이며, 개발된 초안으로는 국제규정으로 UN ECE R No.79 및 국제기술표준으로 ISO/TS 15869가 있다. 개발 중인 국제기준 및 국내기준에서 가장 취약한 부분이 화염시험이다. 화염시험은 자동차에 화재가 발생했을 경우 용기의 폭발을 막기 위하여 안전밸브가 정상적으로 작동하는 지를 확인하는 시험이다. 하지만 현재의 시험방법으로는 자동차에서 발생하는 국부적인 화염에 대한 안전성을 확인하기가 어려운 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 국내의 화염시험기준을 개발하기 위해 수행된 화염시험에 대한 결과와 화염시험장치를 제안하고자 한다.

Analysis of heat leak with the car acceleration for LNG tank of Natural Gas Vehicle (천연가스자동차용 LNG용기에서의 차량가속도와 Heat leak 관계 해석)

  • LNG is a valuable fuel since it offers some environmental, energy security and economic benefits over diesel. It could be used mainly in heavy-duty trucks and buses. Car acceleration induces the slope angle of the liquid fuel in the tank. Slope angle changes the surface area wetted by liquid fuel and consequently heat leak to the tank. This research is a result of numerical simulation of the heat leak with the car acceleration to LNG tank. The "Pro-HeatLeak" Fortran program is developed and the verification test of the developed program is done. The difference between numerical results and calculated results from MathCad verification test is less than 0.07 percent. The smallest heat leak is correspond to the case without oscillation. For the high car acceleration the value of heat leak is greater than that for the small acceleration. The difference between maximum and minimum heat leak for 10 gallons of fuel vapor in the tank is about 10 percent.

  • An aftertreatment device which reduce exhaust gas of natural gas vehicle(NGV), NGV catalyst has important meaning as to reduce the exhaust emission. In this study, the characteristics of NGV catalyst were investigated and the effect parameters of NGV catalyst were analyzed and were predicted by changing the various parameters such as temperature, and gas concentration. The conversion efficiency of NGV catalyst converter was also predicted by Pd-loading, mass flow rate and gas composition.

  • 우리나라의 자동차 등록대수는 90년대 중반 이후 1,000만대를 돌파하여, 2002년 12월 현재 1천 4백만 대에 육박하고 있다. 2000년 전국 대기오염물질 배출량 조사결과의 수송부문의 기여율은 58%로서, 자동차 오염물질이 국내 대기질 악화에 중요한 영향을 미치고 있음을 알 수 있으며, 이 중에서도 특히 경유자동차는 중요한 오염물질 배출원으로 알려져 있다. 경유자동차 저공해화 대책의 일환인 천연가스차 보급으로 대형 경유차에 대해서는 저공해화 기반이 마련되었으나, 중ㆍ소형 경유차에 대한 대책은 상대적으로 미흡한 실정이었다.(중략)
