  • In this paper, we propose a Cross-Layer Cooperative Routing(CLCR) architecture to support transmission efficiency in mobile wireless sensor networks. The main features and contributions of the proposed architecture and method are as follows. First, the clustering which uses the location information of nodes is utilized as infrastructure. Second, a cross-layer strategy which uses the technologies of network layer, MAC layer, physical layer together to support transmission efficiency and channel efficiency for cooperative-aided routing and transmission. Third, we consider realistic approach in the view points of the mobile ad-hoc wireless sensor networks while conventional methods just consider fixed sensor network environments. The performance evaluation of the proposed method is performed via simulation using OPNET and theoretical analysis. The results of performance evaluation of the proposed CLCR show improvement of transmission efficiency by the proposed CLCR.

  • The multicast transmitting the real-time data to groups may easily have many attacks from abnormal attacks because it has many links as compared to the unicast. The existing group key management architectures for preventing these problems are designed for protocols suitable for a large scale. Thus these architectures applied to a small scale routing protocols may have many overheads with key distribution and a constant core tree. Therefore this paper proposes a groups key management protocol for a secure multicast in PIM-SM multicast group communication. The proposed method divide multicast groups with RO(Rendezvous-Point), and subgroup key managers are established in each RP and can be transmitted groups keys between senders and receivers, so the security cannel is set up for secure data transfer, And this does not have needs of the data translation for group keys and the new key distribution for path change. As a result of this, the data transmission time can be reduced.

  • We present a network coding scheme which is designed for improving throughput in multi-hop wireless network with multi-radio multi-channel. The co-channel interference and unreliability of wireless transmissions cause the wireless network to reduce throughput. In wireless network, multi-radio multi-channel technology shows benefit to cut down channel interferences and contentions. And network coding can reduce the complexity of scheduling and improve throughput by increasing usage of links in wireless network. In this paper, we propose a method of channel assignment and transmission scheduling in intra-session network coding that efficiently improve throughput for multi-hop wireless network by using mathematical modeling and linear programming. Moreover, we evaluate the performance of the intra-session network coding scheme by using AMPL with CPLEX. The simulation results show that intra-session network coding can achieve better throughput than traditional routing.

  • If a certain relay node in multi-hop wireless networks might become a malicious node that does not cooperate with other nodes or a selfish node, network throughput will be dramatically decreased. Most of existing ad hoc routing protocols assuming that the nodes will fully cooperate with other nodes do not resolve the problem of network performance degradation due to malicious and selfish nodes. This paper presents the CARE (Cooperative Ad hoc routing protocol based REputation) scheme incorporating the reputation management that can achieve a multi-hop wireless network with high throughput performance. The proposed scheme provides the horizontal cross-layer approach which can identify misbehaving malicious, selfish nodes dropped out of the hop-by-hop based packet processing in the network and then set up an optimal packet routing path that will detour misbehaving nodes. And the vertical cross-layer approach contained in the CARE scheme attempts to improve the quality of routing paths by exploiting the quality of link information received from the MAC layer. Besides, it provides high TCP throughput by exploiting the reputation values of nodes acquired from the network layer into the transport layer. A case study on experiments and simulations shows that the CARE scheme incorporating vertical and horizontal cross-layer approaches yields better performance in terms of the low rate of packet loss, fast average packet delivery time, and high TCP throughput between end-to-end nodes.

  • A reconfigurable photonic microwave (MW) channel selective filter was demonstrated incorporating a $1{\times}2$ switch based on two tunable polymeric resonators with different free spectral ranges. Each resonator, consisting of two cascaded rings with an electrode formed on one of them, plays a role as an on/off switch through the thermooptic effect. The optical signal carrying the MW signal is routed to either port of the switch and detected to show the filtered output at the frequency determined by the free spectral range of the corresponding resonator. When the channel centered at 10 GHz was chosen, the extinction ratio was ${\sim}30dB$, the bandwidth 1 GHz, and the electrical power consumption 4.1 mW. For the other channel located at 20 GHz, we have achieved the extinction ratio of ${\sim}30dB$, the bandwidth of 2 GHz, and the required power of 8.0 mW. Finally the crosstalk between the selected and blocked channels was higher than 24 dB.

  • We have presented a routing mechanism that selects a route by considering channel statuses in order to fast transfer delay-sensitive data in WSNs (Wireless Sensor Networks). The existing methods for real-time data transfer select a path whose latency is the shortest or the number of hops is the smallest. An algorithm to select a real-time transfer path based on link error rates according to the characteristic of wireless medium was also suggested. However, the propagation delay and retransmission timeout affected by link error rates are shorter than channel assessment time and backoff time. Therefore, the mechanism proposed in this paper estimated the time spent in using a clear channel and sending out a packet, which is based on channel backoff rates. A source node comes to select a route with the shortest end-to-end delay as a fast transfer path for real-time traffic, and sends data along the path chosen. We found that this proposed mechanism improves the speed of event-to-sink data transfer by performing experiments under different link error and channel backoff rates.

  • This paper presents the routing and wavelength and timeslot assignment problems for a circuit-switched time division multiplexed (TDM) wavelength-routed networks. In this paper, we propose an efficient distributed control protocol for establishing lightpath dynamically. The protocol uses backward reservation to reduce the chance of blocking. We use aggressive reservation method with usable multiple channels and select only one in multiple channel. We show through simulation that the proposed protocol improves the success rate in TDM-based lightpath establishment and the proposed aggressive reservation method improve blocking probability with appropriate reservation channel count.

  • This paper proposes DAMQWR and VCDAMQ architectures that enloit the full capabilities of adaptive routing. DAMQWR enables messages in congested channels to route through non-congested channels by using recruit registers while VCDAMQ dynamically assigns resources among virtual channels, resulting in better network traffic control. Through extensive simulations and analysis, this paper evaluates their effects on overall network cost and performance. These proposed queue architectures, VCDAMQ and DAMQWR are shown to appropriately support adaptive routing capability by dynamically and efficiently managing queue and network resources, increasing network performance. The results show that up to $20\%$ higher throughput can be obtained in comparison to traditional DAMQ designs.

결과적으로 제안된 방법은 전통적인 켑스트럴 평균 차감법에 기반하여 효과적인 채널 정규화가 가능하다는 것을 보였다.ttention since the operation of local autonomy in Korea.
