Wear characteristics depended on Wear Index in Wheel-Rail Interface (차륜 답면과 레일의 경계영역에서의 마모 특성)

  • Wheel and rail wear is a fundamental and complicate problem in railway field. The life of railway is usually limited by wear. The wheel surface is subjected to high normal and tangential contact stress. The removal of material from the surface by wear is function of the sliding and contact stress. In the present paper, the wear characteristic depended on slip rate, contact pressure and temperature are investigated and is used to twin disc tester. The result shows that the wear in wheel-rail interface is remarkably depended on slip rate and contact pressure.

  • The wear and defects on the wheel tread are caused by the interface between wheel and rail, the suspension system on bogie, the track condition and etc, which are interacted with complex mechanism. Because of the difficulty of analysis of wheel and rail interaction, the measuring data are necessary for improvement of wheel design and maintenance of train. On this case study, the pattern of wheel wears and defects are presented and lifetime of wheel and the reprofiling period are estimated on a basis of the measured results.

  • Korea High Speed Railway of which wheels have been excessively worn during the trial operation prior to opening was additionally applied with solid lubricant besides the existing oil lubricant in order to overcome such excessive wear. Therefore, it was shown that wear status has been improved in the test by which railway system including vehicles and tracks was stabilized during a year's commercial operation, comparing to that with excessive wear in the trial operation prior to opening to the public. In this connection, wheel's wear per mileage was analyzed, based on vehicles in service in order to make out the wheel's wear at present, from which the useful data relating to wheel maintenance could be obtained.

  • The surface of railway wheel tread in wheel-rail system can not be free from wear because of various circumstance such as railway condition, maintenance condition, weather condition, characteristics of wheel surface's geometrical shape, and vehicle suspension's structural characteristics etc. Therefore, the research on wear reduction and maintenance method are very important to ensure the safety of railway vehicle, to improve car comfort and to decrease maintenance cost. In this study, the wear rates of railway wheel have been periodically measured in terms of the running distance of Electrical Multiple Unit which have been currently operated and the microstructure transformation of wheel tread using replication method have been performed. The results show that the relations between the flange wear and tread microstructure are depended on running distance and it will supply basic data on wheel maintenance.

  • The rolling-stocks used in conventional line have suffered wheel problems due to lack of adaptability with track. These brought out severe wheel flange wear, these have caused unstable ride characteristics of rolling-stock. Especially, Wheel flange wear is severely influenced by wheel profile but lateral suspension characteristics. This study was started to induce wheel profile suitable for domestic railway environment. Thus, we analyzed the wear characteristics of wheel profiles that are being applied to railway rolling-stock in KNR. To analyze wheel wear characteristics, we have conducted experiment studies for passenger rolling-stock and obtained useful datum.

  • characteristic of wear between wheel and rail is important factor of judgement to maintenance. KHST is optimized on an exclusive rail, UIC60. but also KHST is running on the variety existing line as well as KS50N, KS60 et,c. Hail profile of KS50N is dissimilar to DIC60. So we can predict that characteristic of wear is embodied also different. In this paper. we deduced the force and point of contact position between wheel and rail through multi-dynamics analysis and predicted wear of wheel and rail through contact problem analysis. we used simplified theory of kallker on contact problem, and Predicted the wear phenomenon of wheel using archard wear equation about each condition.

  • The purpose of this work is to general approach to numerically simulating wear in rolling and sliding contact area between wheel and rail interface based on the analysis of dynamics characteristics with general MBS package. A simulation scheme is developed that calculates the wear at a detailed and various level. The estimation of material removal follows Archard's wear equation which states that the reduction of volume is linearly proportional to the sliding distance, the normal applied load and the wear coefficient and inverse proportional to hardness. The main research application is the wheel-rail contact of Korea High Speed Railway.

  • In this study, Curve dependent wheel flange lubricator with spray type is investigated and estimated a point of view reducing wheel flange wear and noise, a small crack in the curve.   • 본 논문에서는 상태궤환을 이용한 철도차량의 능동조향을 위한 제어기법에 대해 다루었다. 능동조향은 곡선부 주행시 발생되는 승차감 저하 및 차륜/레일의 마모, 소음을 줄이고 고속주행을 위한 조향성능 및 주행안정성을 확보하기 위한 기술이다. 논문에서 사용된 제어 방법은 반대차(Half Bogie) 차량모델을 기초로 측정된 휠-레일의 횡변위(Lateral Displacement) 와 요각(Yaw Ang;e)정보를 토대로 휠에 요모멘트를 제어하였으며 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안한 방법에 대한 성능을 검증하였다.
