  • The purpose of this study was to find differences in evaluation criteria and to find differences in preferred images based on benefits segmented groups of jeans products consumers. Male and female Korean university students participated in the study. Quota sampling method was used to collect the data based on gender and a residential area of the respondents. Data from 492 questionnaires were used in the analysis. Factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha coefficient, cluster analysis, one-way ANOVA, and post-hoc test were conducted. As a result, respondents who seek multi-benefits considered aesthetic criteria(e.g., color, style, design, fit) and quality performance criteria(e.g., durability, ease of care, contractibility, flexibility) more importantly when evaluating and purchasing jeans products. Respondents who seek brand name considered extrinsic criteria(e.g., brand reputation, status symbol, country of origin, fashionability) more importantly than respondents who seek economic efciency. Respondents who seek multi-benefits such as attractiveness, fashion, individuality, and utility tend to prefer all the images: individual image, active image, sexual image, sophisticated image, and simple image when wearing jeans products. Respondents who seek fashion are likely to prefer individual image, and respondents who seek brand name more prefer both individual image and polished image. Mean while, respondents who seek economical efficiency less prefer sexual image and polished image.

  • In this study, we investigated the cognitive characteristics of low science achieving middle school students in K-WISC-IV, and compared the results with high science achieving and achieving students. The results showed us that high science achieving students scored higher than counterparts in FSIQ. Low science achieving students scored lower than high science achieving and achieving students in VCI. Especially low science achieving students scored lower than two groups in subtest SI. The low level of abstraction in low science achieving students is due to the lack of scientific reasoning ability. Therefore subtest SI is considered as highly discriminating test for low science achieving group. Low levels in verbal comprehension, abstraction and reasoning ability are the major factors in poor school performance. High science achieving students scored more than achieving and low achieving students in WMI. Because the working memory is involved in scientific reasoning problem solving process, it is believed to play an important role in science achieved.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of a metastrategic activity on the development of student variable controlling abilities. Three groups of seventh graders at a middle-school in the City of Daegu participated in this study: a metastrategy activity group (ME), a problem-solving activity group (PR), and a control group (CO). The ME group was given metastrategy activity worksheets, which required students to monitor, control, and evaluate variable control strategies in a specified situation. The PR group was given problem-solving activity worksheets, which were needed to solve problems in various situations. The results were seen as follows. First, the metastrategy activity group showed better achievement (p<.05) and a longer standing effect (p<.01) than the other groups in the development of variable control ability. The problem-solving activity group was more effective than the control group (p<.05) in the development of variable controlled ability, but there was no lasting effect of the acquired ability. Second, the metastrategic activity group was more effective than the problem-solving activity group in finding fixed variables (p<.01), but not as effective in uncovering independent variables. What is not transferred to the development of the ability to find dependent variables.

  • Population genetic structure and diversity of Ulmus davidiana var. japonica in South Korea were studied using ISSR markers. A total of 45 polymorphic ISSR amplicons were cropped from 7 ISSR primers and 171 individuals of 7 populations. The average of effective alleles and the proportion of polymorphic loci were 1.5 and 89% respectively. The Shannon's diversity index (I) was 0.435 and the expected heterozygosity from the frequentist's method ($H_e$) and the Bayesian inference (hs) were 0.289 and 0.323 respectively. From AMOVA, 4.2% of total genetic variation in the elm populations was explained with the difference among populations (${\Phi}_{ST}=0.042$) and the other 95.8% was distributed within populations. The ${\theta}^{II}$ value by Bayesian method which was comparable to the FST was 0.043. So the level of genetic diversity in the elm populations was similar to that in Genus Ulmus and the level of genetic differentiation was lower than that of others. No population showed a significant difference in the population-specific fixation indices (average of $PS-F_{IS}=0.822$) or the population-specific genetic differentiations (average of $PS-F_{ST}=0.101$). Seven populations were allocated into 3 groups in the UPGMA and the PCA, but the grouping patterns were different. Also, we could not confirm any geographic trend from Bayesian clustering.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect that preferred music listening had on police officers' occupational stress and fatigue. The musical intervention took place over a total of six sessions from October 11 to October 19, 2016. At each session, the experimental group (n = 19) received 20 minutes of music listening with individually customized playlists that were compiled based on their preferred music list. The control group (n = 21) simply took a break from work for 20 minutes. Every participant checked his or her occupational stress and fatigue level before and after the experiment using the Occupational Stress Inventory and Subjective Symptoms of Fatigue Test. The data were then analyzed by the SPSS 22.0 statistics program. To examine the homogeneity and pretest-posttest results between groups, an independent t test was conducted, and a paired t test was used to examine the pretest-posttest results within groups. The results confirmed all hypotheses. Findings support that the use of preferred music listening is an effective way to help police officers to control their occupational stress and fatigue. This study used a convenience sample and has limited generalizability. Future research should explore interactive approaches in music therapy as well as receptive music listening for alleviating police officers' occupational stress and fatigue.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze differences in kinematic variables for mogul short turn motion between superior and inferior group, so that it can explore more effective mogul short turn motions. To meet the goals, this study selected total 10 ski players who would participate in mogul short turn event of the National Technical Ski Championship 2007, so that it could analyze kinematic variables by way of 3D motion analysis using DLT method. As a result, this study came to the following conclusions; For total and phase-specific duration, it was found that superior group took shorter time than inferior group. Superior group's Center of Mass was stands for more high value in up-down movement skill than inferior group. However right-left movement scale was less than them. In this reason, superior group was made a straight descent at the same time made a fast front-rear velocity. In the part of up-down movement velocity show that move slowly in the drop-in phase while increased in the bump-up phase. It is show that superior group was less tinny than inferior group include joint angle and knee joint angle. However leaning angle of trunk and the body inclination angle were more high figured than inferior group. Leaning angle of lower limbs also showed high figure at the center mogul. Lastly, In the part of body torsion angle show that superior group was high figure direction of right turn in the drop-in phase while in bump-up phase, made a high figure direction of left turn.

  • It is important for marketers to understand both individual resistance and group resistance in order to successfully bring innovations into global markets. We suggest that consumers resist innovations as individuals and as members of a group and that they do this in different ways at different stages of decision-making. The individual resistance begins with forms of initial resistance, develops into emergent resistance and mature or belated resistance at the individual level. In addition, personal moral standards can influence decision making in relation to the adoption of innovations. Individual resistance is sometimes accompanied by or evolves into group resistance. We introduce a framework for thinking about consumer resistance to innovations that sees it as a consequence of social identity, which has functions for the individual, the group to which one belongs, and other individuals and groups. Consumers with membership in a certain group try to increase their self-esteem through the process of social comparison. The more consumers strongly identify with and bond with a certain group, the more in-group solidarity and out-group hostility will occur. Out-group hostility gives group members strong resistance toward products and services related to the out-group. Individual resistance and group resistance are threats to marketers and dampen performance. By considering the existence of resistance to innovations and seeking strategies to overcome it, marketers can transform these threat into new opportunities. A better understanding of consumer resistance can complement research on the adoption of innovations and help in the development of a universal model of consumer behavior.
