A virtual garment fitting system which fits the top and bottom of a garment on 3D body data is introduced. This system uses the laser scanned 3D body data and the digital images photographed the front and back of a garment. The digital images are modeled to reflect tensions among particles in the images and the friction and gravity effects are considered in the fitting process to the body data. When a bottom is fitted, a virtual belt to hold the bottom in the waist is introduced since gravity effects pull down it. Also the process for fitting the top and bottom on layers is proposed here. The system has the strengths that it uses only the front and back image of a garment instead of using complicated patterns of a garment, and provides a realistic fit result as a 3D figure. As on-line retailing shop in present displays front and back images of garments, this system also does. However this system provides a differentiated service to user than present retailing shop as showing a 3D fit image. It will make a new trend in online shop retailing of garment.

Implicit Integration has become a standard approach to efficient cloth animation, and it guarantees the stability of the system so that large steps can be used. Therefore, it is regarded as the best method for the real-time or interactive animation of cloth. Since the implicit method was introduced for stable cloth animation, various cloth animation techniques based on the method have been proposed. It is now possible to generate the real-time animation of cloth model with thousands of mass-point in general PC environments. Although the implicit method guarantees the stability, the implementation of the implicit method is generally more difficult than that of the explicit method. Even worse, it is very difficult to parallelize the computation process of the implicit method. The cloth animation with implicit method can be formalized as a linear system solving. In this paper we propose an stable and efficient cloth animation techniques based on the implicit method. The proposed method can be easily parallelized. Self-collision is another important issue in cloth animation, we also propose an efficient self-collision avoidance techniques.

A numerical procedure for determining the airfoil shape that maximizes the lift is presented. The structure of the flow field is calculated by iteratively coupling potential flow and boundary analysis using the viscous-inviscid interaction method. The potential flow field is obtained by the vortex panel method and boundary layer flow is analyzed by means of integral approximation method which is capable of handling the laminar, transition and turbulent flow regimes. As the result of this study, it is found that the calculated flow regimes have good agreement with the existing experimented data. Davidon-Fletcher-Powell method and Augmented Lagrange Multiplier method are used for the optimal techniques. NACA 23012, NACA 65-3-21, NACA 64-2-415, NACA 64-2-A215 airfoils are used for determining the optimal airfoil shapes as a basic and compensate airfoils. Optimal design showed that the lift coefficients are increased by 17.4% at M$_{0}$=0.2 and 29% at M$_{0}$=0.3, compared with those of basic airfoil.oil.

Large spatial structures consist of roof structure and its supporting structure. Authors simply call the supporting structure "lower parts" and roof structure "upper parts". To study the influence of an lower part on the seismic response of the upper part of a structure as a first step, authors substitute the upper part and the lower part of the structure to a single degree of freedom system individually, and set up a new 2 DOF structural model connected by them. It is clarified that the mass ratio and the period ratio of an upper part to a lower part are important parameters to find the amplification or reduction of the seismic response of an upper part.

This paper describes the parachute dynamics modeling and simulation results for the development of training simulator of a HALO (High Altitude Low Opening) parachute, which is currently in use for military purposes. The target parachute is a rectangular shaped parafoil and its dynamic model is derived based on the real geometry data as the 9-DOF nonlinear equations of dynamics. The simulation was conducted through the moment of inertia and its aerodynamic derivatives to reflect the real characteristics based on the MATLAB/Simulink. In particular, its modeling includes the typical characteristics of the added mass and moment of inertia, which is shown in the strong effects in Lighter-Than-Air(LTA) flight vehicle. The proposed dynamic modeling was evaluated through the simulation under the spiral turning flight conditions of the asymmetric control inputs and compared with the performance index in the target parachute manual.
The rapid growth of virtual reality technology in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution has accelerated scientification of combat training systems in addition to ICT(information and communications technology) in military field. Recently, research and development of simulators based on virtual reality have been actively conducted in order to solve sensitive issues such as increase of civil complaints due to the noise of a shooting range, prevention of shooting accident, and reduction of training cost. In this paper, we propose two key solutions: spatial synchronization method and modified point mass trajectory model with small angle approximation to overcome technical limitations of a current training simulator. A trainee who wears a haptic vest in a mixed reality environment built in MARS(medium-range assault rifle shooting simulator) is able to conduct not only precision shooting but also two-way engagement with virtual opponents. It is possible for trainee to receive more reliable evaluations in the MARS than an existing rifle simulator based on laser.
This paper presents results of dynamic analysis for a bridge in intersection part of two tunnels subjected to moving vehicle load. Since such a bridge system is very unusual due to the fact that it is located in tunnel, the dynamic characteristics of the structure can not be assumed as conventional one. The structure investigated in this study it a reinforced concrete bridge in the intersection part of Namsan Tunnel-1 and Tunnel-2 in Seoul. It is supported by temporary steel structure which shall be constructed during the period of replacing lining in Tunnel-2. Dynamic analysis was carried out for the system using a finite element model constructed by general purpose FE program SAP2000. For this purpose, the structure, lining of tunnels, and surrounding rock were represented by finite elements, while the rock region it truncated and on its outer boundary viscous dampers were placed to simulate radiation of elastic waves generated tunnels. Several types of vehicle with various driving velocities were considered in this analysis. The FE model including vehicle loadings was verified by comparing calculated peak particle velocity with the measured one. From the analysis, the impart factor for the bridge was estimated as 0.21, which indicates that the use of upper bound for the impact factor in design code is reasonable for this kind of bridge system.

This paper is considered on the dynamic behavior and the dynamic impact coefficient on the cable-stayed bridge under the vehicle load. The method of static analysis, that is, the transfer matrix method is used to get influence values about displacements, section forces of girder and cable forces. Gotten influence values were used as basic data to analyse dynamic behavior. This paper used the transfer matrix method because it is relatively simpler than the finite element method, and calculating speed of computer is very fast and the precision of computation is high. In the process of dynamic analysis, the uncoupled equation of motion is derived from simultaneous equation of the motion of cable-stayed bridge and vehicle travelling by using mode shape, which was borne from system of undamped free vibration. The solution of the uncoupled equation of motion, that is, time history of response of deflections, velocity and acceleration on reference coordinate system, is found by Newmark-${\beta}$ method, a kind of direct integral method. After the time history of dynamic response was gotten, and it was transfered to the time history of dynamic response of cable-stayed bridge by linear transformation of coordinates. As a result of this numerical analysis, effect of dynamic behavior for cable-stayed bridge under the vehicle load has varied depending on parameter of design, that is, the ratio of span, the ratio of main span length, tower height, the flexural rigidity of longitudinal girder, the flexural rigidity of tower, and the cable stiffness, investigated. Very good agreements with the existing solution in the literature are shown for the uncracked plate as well as the cracked plate.

The main purpose of this study is to provide a basic information for the seismic capacity evaluation and the seismic design of low-rise reinforced concrete (RC) shear wall buildings, which are comprised of a pilotis in the first story. In this study, relationships between strengths and ductilities of each story of RC buildings with pilotis are investigated based on the nonlinear seismic response analysis. The characteristics of low-rise RC buildings with pilotis are assumed as the double degree of freedom structural systems. In order to simulate these systems, the pilotis is idealized as a degrading trilinear hysteretic model that fails in flexure and the upper story of shear wall system is idealized as a origin-oriented hysteretic model that fails in shear, respectively. Stiffness properties of both models are varied in terms of story shear coefficients and structures are subjected to various ground motion components. By analyzing these systems, interaction curves of required strengths for various levels of ductility factors are finally derived for practical purposes. The result indicates that the required strength levels derived can be used as a basic information for seismic evaluation and design criteria of low-rise reinforced concrete shear wall buildings having pilotis structure.
This study was conducted on four 11th grade students at a high school in a small town to determine the effectiveness of responsive teaching. The three phases of the responsive teaching method proposed in the previous study were subdivided into six stages; Step 1 is elicitation of students' thoughts related to macroscopic world, Step 2 is drawing of students' early thoughts related to microscopic world, Step 3 is disciplinary connections with ideas of the particle, Step 4 is to clarify the learner's thoughts on the particle by the teacher's involvement, Step 5 is deepening students' thoughts, and Step 6 is expanding ideas. In Step 4, students came to the recognition that the cause of mass was atoms and that the cause of volume was molecules. In Step 5, students led to a shift in thinking that could ignore the volume of the molecules themselves through the properties of protons and neutrons that affect mass from a particle perspective. In the Step 6 of expanding ideas, students explained molecular motion by the concept of material point which ignores the volume of particles. This steps gave students perspectives on the relationship between the mass and volume of particles required by Avogadro's law. The students recognized that some systems could be studied only indirectly because they were too small, too large, too fast, or too slow to observe directly.
