In teaching probability and statistics classes, we should increase efforts to develop examples that enhance teaching methodology in delivering more meaningful knowledge to students. Sports is one field that provides a variety of examples and World Cup Soccer events are a treasure house of many interesting problems. Teaching, using examples from this field, is an effective way to enhance the interest of students in probability and statistics because World Cup Soccer is a matter of national interest. In this paper, we have suggested several examples pertaining to counting the number of cases and computing probabilities. These examples are related to many issues such as possible scenarios in the preliminary round, victory points necessary for each participant to advance to the second round, and the issue of grouping teams. Based on a simulation using a statistical model, we have proposed a logical method for computing the probabilities of proceeding to the second round and winning the championship for each participant in the 2010 South Africa World Cup.

It had been said that reading education in Japan has a goal to 'Lead children's character to a desirable direction'. Since the 2000s, Japan's reading activity was directly linked with an education program to improve children's education ability. These movements for reading in Japan is made more concrete by the 'Promotion Act on Children's Reading Activities'. For improving the reading skills of the younger generation in Japan, cooperation among homes, regions, and schools is needed. As a result, Japan has an opportunity to build an educational infrastructure for reading support services. The library has also been given an enhanced role as a learning commons. In this background, this study tried to analyze the current state of Japan's reading instruction qualification system, and show their efforts to foster reading specialists for improving the reading skills of the younger generation. This will generate the momentum needed to have the library evolve into learning commons.

This study investigated the effect of parental attachment on interpersonal competence and psychological well-being of college students. 625 college students completed self-administered questionnaires. Reliability test, ANOVA, Duncan ex-post analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis on data were used. Study results showed that parental attachement and interpersonal competence had significant effects on college students' psychological well-being. Results also depicted gender differences in the relationship of study variables; students' interpersonal competence demonstrated partial mediation effect in the relation of attachment with the same-sex parent and psychological well-being, while complete mediation effect in that of attachment with the opposite-sex parent and psychological well-being, These findings suggest that gender-conscious university policies to promote interpersonal competence among students are greatly needed to ensure psychological well-being of the student population.

Trend of R&D expenditure in Korea during the last 10 years, the R&D expenditure has been constantly increasing at an average rate of 10%. The government R&D ekpenditures or subsidies are increasing rapidly But the studies of evaluating impact of government R&D subsidies are few. This study attempts to empirically investigate the effects of government R&D subsidies on private firm's R&D investment in Korean industry by using Propensity score matching method which sign as to whether the relationship between government subsidies and private R&D investments is on stimulating or displacing private R&D expenditures. Empirically, a firm with government R&D subsidy are 733 million dollar more expenditure then don't receive any government R&D funding. Also Government R&D subsidies greatly increase (statistically significant) company financed R&D expenditures only for large firms but had no effect on the R&D expenditures of small & medium sized firms and venture firms.

This study aims to understand characteristics and roles of community media in Seoul to discuss the meanings of the media. Community media is constructed based upon the networks of relations of community participants, whose characteristic relations of participants within the network determines the roles and meanings of the media for the community. Research have shown that community media's unique open, participatory, and horizontal communicative structures enable to realize such objects. For this study, we chose Mapo FM to conduct case study based upon network analysis of 'participant network' of the media. In particular, we tried to measure the density and centrality of the network, which can explain the relational characteristics of the networks of the media. In addition, we also conducted in-depth interviews of participants to better understand the problems and meanings of the community media. The findings suggest that unlike the conceptual and theoretical assumptions, the community media under the study lacks of open, participatory, and horizontal ways of participation in the media.

The purpose of this study, fire officials during the field activities find causes fugitive dust of containing asbestos is the seriousness of the phenomenon is a threat case and through questionnaires, during on-site activities to prevent exposure to asbestos is effectively. Analysis of the relationship to field activities of fire officials and about the dangers of asbestos dust, asbestos cancer caused by asbestos, and to protect fire officials from the same disease like malignant mesothelioma, by varying the conditions of irrational, fire officials at the scene activities in advance of a deadly hazard is aimed to eliminate through optimization of organizational management and a safe and pleasant working conditions for fire officials through the deadly hazards at the scene of action is aimed to obviate. Also according to asbestos exposure by wearing protective equipment as well as thoroughly strengthen firefighting, firefighting awards to recognize the seriousness of the hazard factors, disease and provide compensation to the legal system, for diseases not yet recognized officially recognized by disaster supplemented by institutional, fire officials to improve morale and working conditions, etc. versus expectations is to improve public services.

The purpose of this essay is to converge the theory of communicative action Into the new paradigm of 'public relations democracy.' The notions of communicative action rationality, the public sphere, and deliberative democracy led new public relations paradigm approaches including meaning sharing, media access enlargement, and theoretical ramifications for the powerless. As Habermas prospected the power of comprehensive rationality to solve post-capitalist problems, the paradigm of public relations democracy visions the new era of public relations equipped with rhetorical and critical approaches. The new paradigm tries to overcome functional fallacy and embraces the concept of public interest. The paradigm of public relations democracy aims at integrating all three levels of public relations activities such as individual, organizational, and social levels, and pursues to enlarge the public sphere through increasing communicative actions and resolving social conflicts. Habermas's critical theory exhibits an opportunity for public relations theory building.

Programming education can improve problem-solving skills and logical thinking required in a knowledge-based society. However, most conventional programming education spent more time to acquisition of command language and coding process rather than improvement of problem-solving skills and logical thinking, for using programming languages based on foreign language and learners have appeared to lost interest easily. To solve these problems in this paper, interest in programming study was enhanced by making it possible to verify the outcome of highly abstract programming process through a robot as a concrete object. In addition, the Hangul converter of robot programming language based on RCX that elementary school students can use easily was designed and developed. Furthermore, the developed tool was used for six months by students in after-school computer class and therefore learners showed a positive response.

산업통상자원부가 주최하고 한국생산기술연구원이 주관하는 "제10회 미래패키징 신기술 정부포상"시상식이 4월 26일 일산 킨텍스 그랜드볼룸에서 열렸다. 정부포상제도는 미래지식산업인 패키징산업 종사자의 긍지와 자부심 함양의 계기를 실천하고, 패키징산업 종사자의 사기진작과 패키징산업 활성화를 도모하는데 그 목적이 있다. 또한 한국국제포장기자재전(KOREA PACK)과의 동시개최로 패키징산업 종사자간 정보교류 극대화 및 공동체 의식 함양으로 일체감을 조성함은 물론, 패키징산업 기술인의 기술개발 의욕을 고취한다는 평가를 받고 있다. 제10회 미래패키징 신기술 정부포상 시상식에서는 코리아스타상 기업부문, 학생부문, 공로부문으로 구분하여 시상이 진행됐다. 기업부문은 패키징 완제품, 친환경패키징, 패키징관련기계(설비) 및 관련부품, 패키징인쇄(라벨링), 패키징원부자재 생산 및 가공공정, 패키징디자인 등의 분야에서 신기술 개발 또는 개선으로 수출 신장, 매출 수익 증대 및 발명특허 획득을 통해 패키징 기술력 발전에 기여한 기업의 패키징제품 또는 패키징디자인을 대상으로 진행되고 있으며 학생부문은 패키징 디자인 관련분야 전공자로 패키징과 연관된 컨셉으로 상품성, 창의성, 표현성, 친환경성, 지속가능성 등이 어우러진 독창적인 패키징제품 또는 패키징디자인을 대상으로 한다. 또한 공로부문은 패키징 산업 관련 산업계, 학계, 연구계, 유관기관에 종사하는 자로서 패키징 관련 핵심 기술개발, 경영, 마케팅 면에서 패키징 산업 발전에 기여한 공적이 뚜렷한 자, 패키징산업발전 정책연구 및 패키징산업 육성에 기여한 기업 또는 개인을 대상으로 하고 있다. 이번 행사에서는 기업부문 29개 제품과, 학생 14명, 공로 2명에 대한 포상이 진행, 국무총리상에는 (주)더우주의 '우주 페이스 마스크(OOZOO FACE MASK)'가 수상했으며, 산업통상자원부장관상에는 현대글로비스(주)외 2개사, 한국생산기술연구원장상에는 (주)풀무원 외 10개사가 수상했다. 학생부문에서는 안양대학교가 산업통상자원부장관상을 수상했다. 공로부문으로 진행된 시상식에서는 서영철 Flair Flexible Packaging 대표이사와 이명훈 한국포장시스템연구소장이 산업통상자원부장관 표창을 받았다. 본 고에서는 제10회 미래패키징 신기술 정부포상 수상작들을 살펴봄으로써 최신 패키징 경향에 대해 알아보도록 한다.
