  • As basic data about students' career education in high school are being managed only in forms of NEIS, which is supported by Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, and the information for career education that homeroom teachers have operated by off-line system, it is hard to use them as practical decision support system for students' career education. In this study, we intend to design and embody web-based Student Management Total System by constructing DB of students' e-portfolios, school records and counselling data etc. As a result, teachers can carry out vocational education that is considered students' talents and aptitude, and we have a goal for promoting the growth of the students as the national human resources who have sound occupational consciousness through this education.

  • This study analyzed a unique method of problem-handling, attitudes, and specific interest propensity in the career path of the type with inconsistency in the relative distance between personality type in Holland's hexagonal model. In-depth interviews and theme analysis with six clients who showed inconsistent personality type were conducted. These six were selected from 87 participants that had received training at the Korea Vocational Counselling Association, Korea Training Institute for Self-Sufficiency and Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled. From the analysis, the six clients with inconsistent 3 Codes showed four characteristics - more than three career experience, various interest pursuits, career involvement, and career identity. They were affected in their vocational behavior by their own Holland 3 Codes and showed vocational behavior very different from Holland's theory of person-environment fit approach. They showed positive, ambivalent and chaotic types on career identity. Furthermore, Conventional(C)-Investigative(I)-Social(S) 3 Codes type and Artistic(A)-Enterprising(E)-Realistic(R) 3 Codes type in the same inconsistent personality type showed different vocational behaviors in career path development, which relates to the meaning of Holland's 3 Codes. The significance of this research lies in its provision of various points for improving career counselling.

  • This study examined differences in beauty majors' career maturity and career decision-making depending on the grade and analyzed the relationship between the career maturity with the career decision-making to present basic data for guidelines that would help any relevant field with their career consultations and education targeting those students majoring in beauty at college. A total of 336 beauty majors in the metropolitan area were selected as the research subjects. The study confirmed that the higher the grade, the greater the career maturity. The students who had a higher level of career maturity tended to be included in the reasonable career decision-making category while those students with a lower level of career maturity were determined to conduct dependent decision-making. In terms of the career decision, the students in the higher grades were reasonable enough to make decisions logically because they collect various information through systematic stages but when it comes to the students in the lower grades, they were divided into the intuitive type that would reach a decision through emotional self-recognition depending on how one feels at this moment or what situation one is going through as well as the dependent type that would let people or environments influence one's decision-making. The grades of the students tended to cause differences in the career maturity and the career decision-making, and the significance between the two variables was proven. If the relevant fields carry out systematic grade-focused programs and career guidance not only to improve the career maturity of even the lower graders but also to encourage the students to make reasonable decisions, such programs and career guidance will be a help when the students try to determine a career.

The program that consisted of 10-minute 21 sessions was provided to fifth-grade elementary schoolers for eight weeks. The findings of the study were as follows: The experimental group that participated in the PBL-based career education program showed a more significant improvement than the control group that didn't in career attitude and three career attitude subfactors involving planness, disposition and compromise. And the former made a more significant progress than the latter in career ability and its subfactors including vocational comprehension, self-understanding and decision-making skills as well. As a result of making a content analysis to make up for the survey, the students reported that they were able to get an objective understanding of themselves and acquire diverse and profound knowledge on work and the business world in the middle of solving the given PBL problems related to different areas in group and giving a presentation. In conclusion, a PBL based career education program developed by this researcher encouraged the students to have an objective self-understanding, to have a dynamic interactive discussion with their group members.
