  • Recent advances in the 4th Industrial Revolution have accelerated the change of the working environment, such that the paradigm of education has been shifted in accordance with career education including the free semester system and the high school credit system. While the purpose of those systems is students' self-motivated career exploration, educational limitations for teachers and students exist due to the rapid change of the information on education. Also, education technology research to tackle these limitations is relatively insufficient. To this end, this study first defines three requirements that education technologies for the career education system should consider. Then, through data-driven artificial intelligence technology, this study proposes a data system and an artificial intelligence recommendation model that incorporates the topics for career exploration, courses, and majors in one scheme. Finally, this study demonstrates that the set-based artificial intelligence model shows satisfactory performances on recommending career education contents such as courses and majors, and further confirms that the actual application of this system in the educational field is acceptable.

The present study started with this question, and was to develop a career decision-making scale for scientifically gifted undergraduates. For this, literatures related to the scientifically gifted/talent and scientists' career decision-making were reviewed and examined in depth. Based on the review of the related literature, the developed scale of career decision-making was comprised of 26 items in 6 factors, such as individual aptitude & self-realization, economic aspect, work & leisure, familial influence, parents/teachers' recommendation, and experience of science activity during the school days. For the preliminary exploratory factor analysis, 153 undergraduate students who were majoring in natural sciences and engineer participated in the study. For the confirmatory factor analysis, 264 undergraduates who were awarded the presidential scholarships and 93 undergraduates who completed a university-affiliated gifted education center participated. The results of the study are as follows. The fit of measurement model was found to be $x^{2}$=645.157 (df=279, p=.00), TLI=.924, CFI= .935, RMSEA=.061, indicating most of fit indexes were acceptable. Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ in each sub-factor was quite high, .82 for individual aptitude & self-realization, .94 for economic aspect, .84 for work and leisure, .88 for familial influence, .79 for patents/ teachers' recommendation, and .79 for experience of science activity during the school days. The results of the study were discussed whether the developed scale could be used as a valid and reliable tool for measuring career decision-making factors of the scientifically gifted undergraduates in our country.

  • This study is to develop a competence model for school principals that provides effective career and vocational education (CVE) at middle schools. This model can be used as an indicator for identifying the expertise levels of principals in CVE and to help them develop the necessary skills. Research methods included literature review, basic research, the Delphi technique, analytic hierarchy process (AHP), and surveying. The results were as follows. The competence model for CVE for middle school principals consisted of three competence groups, nine competence elements, and 67-item behavior indicators. First, the three competence groups included the competence to build a school system for CVE, the competence to support CVE at school, and the competence to create a school environment for CVE. Competence to support CVE at school turned out to be most important in the AHP analysis. Second, competence elements included goal management, performance management, the creation of educational culture, support for educational activities, support for school curriculum, support for students, human resources management, resource management and community management. According to the AHP analysis, support for school curriculum was the most significant among the nine competence elements. Third, the behavior indicators were identified items in three areas: 18 items for individual propensity, 18 items for knowledge, and 31 items for performance.
