  • The purpose of this study is to develop and verify a Korean Diagnostic Scale of Multiple Intelligence(MI), which will be an alternative test to avoid problems with former Shearer's MI test and to adopt H. Gardner's suggestions to develop MI assessment. The test is developed 5 types; kindergartner, elementary lower grader, elementary upper grader, middle schooler, high schooler test. A form of test is diversified with 3 types; multiple-choice items for accomplishment, true or false items for ability, and self-reported items with likert scale for interest and ability. According to H. Gardner's suggestions, we have tried to reanalyze key component of MI, analyze an overlapping or hierarchical relationship between intelligences, develop intelligences-fair items, diversify form of item. We have developed a final standardized test through a primary, secondary preliminary-test analysis, and sampled 5,585 students by age, gender, and regional groups. As a result of this sampling test, we can get a norm score and compare individuals with other's score relatively. To verify this test, we analyzed behavior observation, mean, standard deviation, a percentage of correct answers, reliability of each test type, correlation between intelligence scales, Kruskal-Wallis test of mean rank of career choice by intelligences. As a result of correlation analysis between sub-intelligence scales, we can conclude that this MI test is satisfied with intelligence independent assumption. Besides, as non-parametric statistics test(Kruskal-Wallis) of career choice by intelligences, we can identify that MI is related with domain of career choice. This test is not a linguistic and logical-mathematical biased test but a intelligences-fair test. It makes us compare individual's potential with a norm score. Besides, it could be useful as a means of educational prescription or counsel in comparison with ability, interest, and accomplishment of individual. But this test is limited to do factor or correlation analysis between types of sub-test, because items are minimized for a time-constraint and a heavy burden of test receiver. But if it could be tested with increased items by two sessions, further research could be expected to get over this constraints and do a further validation analysis.

Followings will be covered here: what motivated them to choose those majors, how much are they satisfied with major curriculum course after matriculation, whether they got jobs through the education, what is their consciousness on their majors, jobs, and courses like, and what effects their job preference. And this study also aims at helping the students with their future plans such as admission to a school of higher grade and choosing their job. For this study, we distributed 340 cpoies to the students in security related majors at 4 four-year colleges and 1 two-year college, and collected 298 copies by means of quota sampling method. For collected questionnaires, we used individual T-test verification and one-way ANOVA analysis to grasp the situation. Significance standard for the test results was set as p<0.05. Following are the test results. First, the analysis on students' satisfaction rate resulted in male students' average of 2.42, compared to female students' average of 2.10, which shows female students have higher satisfaction rate in choosing their majors than male students. Secondly, The results on analysis of satisfaction rate on their curriculums, classes, and majors show that students in security-related majors showed different satisfaction rate and different averages according to their sex and the year of the college. The study indicates that males have higher satisfaction rate on curriculum than females, with male students' average of 2.63 and female students' average 2.88. According to the year of the college, there was a significant difference statistically, Statistics show that students at two-year college have higher satisfaction rate than those at four-year college, with two-year college students' average of 2.48 and four-year college students' of 2.74. students have the average of 3.56. The higher year they were in, the more improvement the curriculum required. When it comes to convenience offer for employment, male students expected more from school than female students, with males' average of 2.74 and females' average of 4.07. Male students marked higher than female students in the extent of job information offer, with males' average of 2.96 and females' average of 2.59. Fourthly, when students in security-related majors were surveyed on their consciousness of their future plans such as getting jibs, two-year college students had more certificates of qualification for employment than four-year college students. What they do preponderantly in preparation for employment was studying foreign languages, which took up 40.4%. And when they were asked on their confidence for employment, positive answers were far more than negative ones with the percentage of 39.6%, while negative took up just 14.0%. Fifthly, when it come to the students in security-related students' job preferences, 49.2% preferred safe job conditions in public security area and 34% preferred private guard or private security organizations. And in the public security area, the highest percentage of 28.6 preferred to work in presidential security service. • The aim of this study is to explore why Korean 4th graders' interest in science was not connected to career aspirations in science using the perspective of science identity. Forty-five students with a high interest in science but with low science-related aspirations have been chosen from 488 elementary school students who have completed a questionnaire exploring students' interest and career aspirations in science. Among them, 19 who have received parental permission participated in in-depth interviews examining students' science identities (interest, competence, and recognition by others in science) and their experiences and perceptions of science-related activities. The results showed that most students have limited or situational interest in science, a gap between the perception of their competence in science and their competence for a science-related career, and negative recognition by others in science. Also, participants' science identities and low aspirations for a science-related career constrained their attention and participation in science-related activities. Students' negative science identities and low aspirations for science-related careers were based on the high standards of science-related careers. It seems that these erroneous perceptions and expectations led them to differentiate themselves from students pursuing science-related careers, as well as to perceive that their interest, competence, and recognition by others in science were not enough to pursue a science-related career. This study has implications for understanding the current condition of young students with low aspirations for science careers and exploring desirable objectives and strategies to promote activities to raise their aspirations for science-related careers.
