  • In this paper, we studied a vibration problem that is critical and common to most precision measurement systems. For micro mechanical part measurements, results obtained from the vision-based precision measurement system may contain errors due to the vibration. In order to defeat this generic problem, for the current study, a PC based image processing technique was used first, to assess the effect of the vibration to the precision measurement and second, to develop an in-situ calibration algorithm that automatically compensate the measurement results in real time. We used a set of stereoscopic CCD cameras to acquire the images for the dimensional measurement and the reference measurement. The mapping function was obtained through the in-situ calibration to compensate the measurement results and the statistical analysis for the actual results is provided in the paper. Based on the current statistical study, it is expected to obtain high precision results for the micro measurement systems.

  • This paper presents three algorithms of repetitive controller for compensation of the repeatable runout in hard disk drive. The basic theory of the repetitive controller and the analysis of the disturbance in hard disk drive are introduced. The tracking controller is designed in order to design the "plug-in type" repetitive controller. Design of the repetitive controller is considered as the design of the filter, determination of gain and design of additional compensation for the various types. Specially, trade-off relationship between stability and performance is important for the design. The three kinds of "plug-in type" repetitive controllers are designed, simulated and experimented. Performance and characteristic of them are compared with the analysis of the experimental results.

  • The KNR(Korean National Railroad) has a speed limit regulation(130km/h) for the train passing the turnout to guarantee a safety. Since that speed is set as below the maximum commercial speed(140km/h), it has been regarded as a major factor to obstacle the total efficiency. The crossing rail part of the turnout system is formed into a antisymmetric, furthermore, there are several discontinuous part. Thus, measuring the strain signals of this part is impossible actually and it must be in the most difficult work related the turnout research. In this research, the program that can anticipate the signals at the various conditions with considering its own shape was developed and the preciousness of its results had been examined by comparing analyzed and measured ones at the other parts. The simulation was performed with varying the factors such as train speed and contact depth. As a results, it was proved that the regulation was not useless and very important guide at least up to now.

  • A LQG/LTR(Linear Quadratic Gaussian/Loop Transfer Recovery) controller with an integrator is designed to control the electro-hydraulic positioning system. Without considering the nonlinearity in the dead-zone, computer simulations are performed and show good performances and tracking abilities with the feedback controller based on the linear system model. However, the performance of the closed loop hydraulic positioning system shows big steady-state error in real system because of the dead-zone. In this paper, the feedback controller with a nonlinear compensator is introduced to overcome the dead-zone phenomenon in hydraulic systems. The inverse dead-zone as a nonlinear compensator is used to cancel out the dead-zone phenomenon. Experimental tests are performed to verify the performance of the controller.

  • Tn this paper. dual rotor disk configuration with a coreless stator is proposed for the Lorentz force type integrated motor hearing system. An experimental compensation for the effects of high order harmonics is performed using the digital controller of the experimental setup. The runout profile and rotor unbalance are also identified by the extended influence coefficient method. The experimental results confirm that this compensation scheme effectively attenuates the rotor vibration all over the operating range of rotational speed.

  • An application of a simple and effective learning control scheme to a robotic arm for exercise is presented. During exercises, the force applied by a .user to an exercise machine varies for different users and for different workouts of the same user. learning control is used to compensate for the difference between the actual force and the planned one. It is shown through simulation that the learning control method decreases tracking error quickly for both time-invariant and time-varying forcing functions.

  • Recently, the disturbance caused by an optical disk vibration and the external vibration/shock are more serious problem in an optical disk drives (ODD) as an ODD become small size and rotation speed increases. The conventional controller cannot cope with the mentioned problems properly when the disturbance and vibration are larger than some range. Therefore, we propose a new control scheme using a disturbance observer (DOB) and it can control the aforementioned problems. The designed the controller is applied to a commercial ODD in focusing direction, then its validity is proved by experimental method. By rising the disturbance observer theory, the focusing performance is conspicuously improved in the presence of sinusoidal vibrations or a shock disturbance. This algorithm also applies to a tracking structure also, because focusing structure is very similar to it.
