Study of Failure Examples for Emission Gas Control System in Gasoline Engine (가솔린 엔진 배출가스 제어장치에 대한 고장사례 고찰)

  • The purpose of this paper is to study for the emission gas control of passenger car. The first example, the PCSV never open when operating condition, but it opened by causing malfunction because of trouble. As a result, the purge gas entered into surge tank, a mount of fuel was displayed with excessive supply on tester. Therefore, it certified the bad-condition of the engine when idling by decreasing of fuel injection quantity from engine ECU. The second example, the hose activating a EGR valve didn't supply the vacuum pressure because of assembling the other part. Thus, it knew the bad-condition of engine that the EGR valve would not work normally by leaking with the other port. The third example, as the rear oxygen sensor of two sensor were fault-installing by changing the sensor of other a car it could not detect of oxygen quantity. Finally, it found the phenomenon of abruptly decreasing vehicle speed when braking a car. Therefore, the system including with emission control has to drastically manage by maximizing condition to role decreasing the emission gas.

Operatonal characteristics of the PLS linac vacuum system (PLS 선형가속기 진공계의 운전특성)

  • The vacuum systems of PLS linac provides average pressure of $2.6\times 10^{-6}$Pa under high power microwave of 54 MW peak with 4.1 $\mu \textrm s$ pulse width and 10 Hz repetition rates. The base pressure of system is$2.4\times 10^{-6}$Pa with 45$^{\circ}C$ cooling water. The outgassing rate of the system is decreased from $3.0\times 10^{-11}Torr-l/sec-\textrm{cm}^2$ at the initial stage after installation to $1\times 10^{-12}Torr-l/sec-\textrm{cm}^2$ at present. Total accumulated microwave energy dose is about 140 GJ per module. All ion pumps are working under saturated regime and effective pumping speeds of 60 I/s, 230 I/s ion pumps are 45 I/s, 65 I/s, 140 I/s under the operating range. Main problems occurred in recent year are troubles of ion pump controller and vacuum gauge controller, vacuum leak of energy doubler window and electron gun ceramic, and water leak in the dummy load of acceleraing columns. Total of 41 troubles with 140. 8 hours down time give good system availability of 98%. Down time can be reduced by high power waveguide valves and water dummy loads under development, and then availability is expected to be increased up to 99.5%.

2단 GM형 맥동관 냉동기 적용 크라이오 펌프 개발

  • 반도체 생산 공정은 청정 환경을 요구하며, 이를 위해서는 고진공 환경이 필수적인 요소이다. 반도체 생산 라인의 고진공 환경 조성을 위해서는 주로 복합 분자 펌프와 크라이오 펌프가 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 기존의 상용 크라이오 펌프에 사용되던 GM 극저온 냉동기를 맥동관 냉동기로 대체하기 위한 연구를 수행하였다. 맥동관 냉동기는 저온부에 움직이는 부분이 없어 진동이 작고, 신뢰성이 높은 장점이 있어 이를 이용한 크라이오 펌프는 반도체 생산 공정의 공정 정밀도 향상에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 맥동관 냉동기는 크라이오 펌프에 사용하기 위하여 2단으로 구성되며, 저온부가 U자 형상으로 개발되었다. 상용화를 고려하여 로터리 밸브와 위상조절기구가 위치하는 상온부는 일체형으로 제작하였다. 제작된 맥동관 냉동기의 기초 냉각 성능 시험 결과 부하가 없는 조건에서 최저도달온도는 1단과 2단에서 각각 42.53 K과 8.68 K 이었으며, 부하 시험 결과 1단과 2단에서 각각 40 W at 82.97 K, 10 W at 20.51 K의 냉각 능력을 갖는 것으로 측정되었다. 개발된 맥동관 냉동기에 복사차폐막 및 1차, 2차 냉각판을 설치하여 크라이오 펌프를 구성하였고, 기체 질소에 대한 배기 속도 측정 시험을 수행하였다. 배기속도 측정 결과 배기속도는 2차 냉각판의 형상에 크게 영향을 받는 것이 확인되었으며, 약 650 L/의 배기속도를 갖는 것으로 측정되었다. 실험 결과를 바탕으로 크라이오 펌프로 작동시 맥동관 냉동기의 동작 특성 및 배기 속도 향상을 위한 방안을 논의하였다.

Development of Personal Compact Oxygen Generator using Vacuum Swing Absorption (개인용 VSA방식 소형 산소발생기 개발)

  • This paper discusses the development of a personal compact oxygen generator for portable and mobility. The compact oxygen generator is operated with vacuum swing absorption by compact vacuum pump. The components of oxygen generator is composed on the miniaturization and weight reduction, and it is optimized by discharge pump speed, nozzle diameter and 3-way valve interval. In 0.5mm of nozzle diameter, $O_2$ concentration is approximately 37%, and flow rate is $1{\ell}$/min. On the 30cm away from the nozzle, $O_2$ concentration is increased approximately 0.5%.

  • A gas fueling system composed of a gas reservoir, an on-off valve, and a gas transferring tube, which is the simplest construction for the pre-programmed gas puffing, was simulated by numerically solving the time-dependent one-dimensional gas flow equation. The purpose of the simulation is to establish the relationship between the gas flow pattern (the elapsed time to the maximum flow, the maximum flow rate, the gas pulse duration) and the system parameters (the filling pressure and the volume of the gas reservoir, and the length and the diameter of the gas transferring tube).

Evaluation of a Water-based Bolus Device for Radiotherapy to the Extremities in Kaposi's Sarcoma Patients (사지에 발병한 카포시육종의 방사선치료를 위한 물볼루스 기구의 유용성 고찰)

  • Purpose: We designed a water-based bolus device for radiation therapy in Kaposi's sarcoma. This study evaluated the usefulness of this new device and compared it with the currently used rice-based bolus. Materials and Methods: We fashioned a polystyrene box and cut a hole in order to insert patient's extremities while the patient was in the supine position. We used a vacuum-vinyl based polymer to reduce water leakage. Next, we eliminated air using a vacuum pump and a vacuum valve to reduce the air gap between the water and extremities in the vacuum-vinyl box. We performed CT scans to evaluate the density difference of the fabricated water-based bolus device when the device in which the rice-based bolus was placed directly, the rice-based bolus with polymer-vinyl packed rice, and the water were all put in. We analyzed the density change with the air gap volume using a planning system. In addition, we measured the homogeneity and dose in the low-extremities phantom, attached to six TLD, and wrapped film exposed in parallel-opposite fields with the LINAC under the same conditions as the set-up of the CT-simulator. Results: The density value of the rice-based bolus with the rice put in directly was 14% lower than that of the water-based bolus. Moreover, the value of the other experiments in the rice-based bolus with the polymer-vinyl packed rice showed an 18% reduction in density. The analysis of the EDR2 film revealed that the water-based bolus shows a more homogeneous dose plan, which was superior by $4{\sim}4.4%$ to the rice-base bolus. The mean TLD readings of the rice-based bolus, with the rice put directly into the polystyrene box had a 3.4% higher density value. Moreover, the density value in the case of the rice-based bolus with polymer-vinyl packed rice had a 4.3% higher reading compared to the water-based bolus. Conclusion: Our custom-made water-based bolus device increases the accuracy of the set-up by confirming the treatment field. It also improves the accuracy of the therapy owing to the reduction of the air gap using a vacuum pump and a vacuum valve. This set-up represents a promising alternative device for delivering a homogenous dose to the target volume.

Post-annealing Effect of Giant Magnetoresistance-Spin Valve Device for Sensor (센서용 거대자기저항 스핀밸브소자의 열처리 효과)

  • In order to detect of the magnetic property in the cell unit, we studied the GMR-SV (giant magnetoresistance-spin valves) biosensor, which was depended on the micro patterned features according to two easy directions of longitudinal and transversal axes. Here, the multi layer structure was glass/NiO/NiFe/CoFe/Cu/CoFe/NiFe. The uniaxial anisotropy direction was applied to the patterned biosensor during the deposition and vacuum post-annealing at $200^{\circ}C$ under the magnitude of 300 Oe, respectively. Considering the magnetic shape anisotropy effect, the size of micro patterned biosensor was a $2{\times}5{\mu}m^2$ after the photo lithography process. By our experimental results, we confirmed that the best condition of GMR-SV biosensor should be the same direction of the axis sensing current and the easy axis of pinned NiO/NiFe/CoFe triple layer oriented to the width direction of device, and the direction of the easy axis of free CoFe/NiFe bilayer was according to the longitudinal direction of device.

Design and Performance Test of a Closed Loop Thermal Control System for Thermal Vacuum Chamber (열진공 챔버용 폐회로 열제어시스템 설계 및 성능평가)

  • A closed loop thermal control system simulates space thermal environment to verify the satellites' functionality in extremely cold/hot temperature. It is composed of a cryogenic blower, thermal shroud, heater, cryogenic valves. This paper presents an overview of closed loop thermal control system's design parameter and test results for control parameter. A capacity of blower is calculated through energy balance equation and an advantage/disadvantage for a shroud material and a type was analysed. The thermal control system is controlled by a constant density of fluid in the system. A requested performance of closed loop thermal control system was verified by measuring a homogeneity and stability of shroud through control parameter such as density and RPM of blower.

  • This paper presents an implementation of a scent collector to collect various scent using a multi-gas sensor. The proposed scent collector is implemented with a solenoid valve, a vacuum pump, a chamber containing four gas sensors, and a Raspberry Pi. To verify the functionality of the proposed scent collector, experiments were conducted to collect five scent sources.

  • Ultra-high pressure positive displacement pump can discharge high pressure water with mass volume, which depends on periodic changes in volume that made by rotation motor. Its high efficiency of discharge is one of the most strong point of positive displacement pump. Due to its simple system structure, it can be miniaturized and lightened. Positive displacement pump can discharge high pressure with stable flow rate, irrespective of pressure fluctuate. This is the reason that positive displacement pump was used instead of centrifugal pump. In this study, shutoff operating system was developed for positive displacement pump to secure safety of high pressure operate. This shutoff system contains controller system, electronic clutch, and relief valve, and each part is mutual supplementation. Speed test was carried out in order to check operation of controller program and electronic clutch and fluid flow, venting experiment of the relief valve. It was confirmed that segment system of ultra-high pressure positive displacement pump is operated.
