Fracture Toughness of Concrete Brazilian Disk according to Maximum Size of Coarse Aggregate (굵은골재의 최대치수에 따른 콘크리트 브라질리언 디스크의 파괴인성)

  • Fracture toughness is a material property for crack initiation and propagation in fracture mechanics. For mode I fracture toughness measurement in concrete, RILEM committees 89-FMT proposed three-point bend tests based on the two-parameter fracture model. But, there is no proposed test method as a standard for mixed mode test for now. And RILEM three-point bend test procedure is complicate. Therefore, in this study, brazilian disks of various size were designed as the concrete with a similar specified concrete strength and maximum size of coarse aggregate($G_{max}$) were respectively 20mm and 40mm. And mode I fracture toughness of brazilian disks was compared with that of RILEM three-point bend test. As a result, it was suggested appropriate size(thickness, diameter) and notch length ratio of brazilan disk on the $G_{max}$. And it was verified that stress intensity factors for mixed mode can be easily calculated with the disk specimen. Stress intensity factors of a concrete brazilian disk were evaluated with finite element analysis and five terms approximation for comparison.

Optimal Electron Beam Characteristics by Lenses Analysis Using Scanning Electron Microscopy (주사전자현미경 렌즈의 해석을 통한 최적의 빔 특성 연구)

  • This paper presents a design method for optimizing the focused beam characteristics, which are mainly determined by the condenser lenses in a scanning electron microscopy (SEM) design. Sharply reducing the probe diameter of electron beams by focusing the condenser lens (i.e., the rate of condensation) is important because a small probe diameter results in high-performance demagnification. This study explored design parameters that contribute to increasing the SEM resolution efficiently using lens analysis and the ray tracing method. A sensitivity analysis was conducted based on those results to compare the effects of these parameters on beam focusing. The results of this analysis on the design parameters for the beam characteristics can be employed as basic key information for designing a column in SEM.

  • We have proposed a model of a thermal voltage converter(TVC) using the trans-impedance of lossy transmission line and developed a calculation program for ac-dc transfer difference of the TVC. The proposed TVC consists of a thermo-element(f) and a range resistor wire connected in series at the center of coaxial cylinder. The range resistor wire is used to extend the measurement range of the n. The calculated ac-dc transfer differences of the proposed TVC by simulation agree well with the measured values within the uncertainties. The simulated and measured values are agreed within $1{\mu}V/V$ from 40 Hz to 10kHz, within $5{\mu}V/V$ from 20kHz to 100MHz, and within $12{\mu}V/V$ from 200kHz to 1 MHz.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the flower organ removal effect on Atractylodes macrocephala Koidz which was introduced from China. The results were summarized as follows; The plant height of Flower Organ Cutting(F.O.N.C.) treatment short by 1.7∼2.5 cm compared to Flower Organ Non-Cutting(F.O.N.C.) treatment. But number of stem and stem diameter of F.0.C treatment were similar to that of F.O.N.C. treatment. The fresh weight of above-ground part of F.O.N.C. treatment was decreased 48∼60% compare to F.O.C. treatments. The later was period of F.O.C., the higher was fresh weight of above-ground part. The growth of underground part was more F.O.C. at July 15 and Aug. 20 treatments than F.O.N.D treatment. The dry rhizome yield of F.O.C. at July 15 treatment was increased 40% compare to F.O.N.D treatment. Essential oil content of F.O.C. at July 15 treatment was increased 12% compare to F.O.N.D treatment.

  • The NDT(Non-Destructive Testing) technique, detecting defects without damaging foundations, has, lately, been a matter of concern. In this study, the applicability of the borehole methods(CSL, CT, PS) and the surface reflection methods(SE, IR) to the evaluation of integrity of drilled shaft was investigated through field test. Ten drilled shafts, 0.4 m in diameter and 7.0 m long each, were constructed, one shaft with no defect and nine shafts intentionally with the combination of the common defects such as soft bottom, necking, bulging, cave-in, and/or weak concrete. Analysing each NDP test result on the constructed drilled shafts, an optimum combination of the NDP methods as well as the applicability of each NDP method to detecting defects of drilled shaft have been investigated.

  • It is a quite quality concerning to control the temperature of single crystalline growth as it does when we get most of heat treating products. It is also important factor to control the temperature when we make the $Al_2O_3$(single crystalline) used to artificial jewels, glass of watches, and heat resistant transparent glasses. Thus, it is a major interest to get the proper temperature in accordance with the time process while we are making mixture of oxygen and hydrogen to have the right temperature. In this paper, we will study of electrical valve positioning system with DC-Motor for the gas mixture to improve the quality of products.

  • Ejector system can induce the secondary flow or affect the secondary chamber pressure by both shear stress and pressure drop which are generated in the primary jet boundary. Ejectors are widely used in a range of applications such as a turbine-based combined-cycle propulsion system and a high altitude test facility for rocket engine, pressure recovery system, desalination plant and ejector ramjet etc. The primary interest of this study is to set up an configuration and operating conditions for an ejector in the condition of sonic and subsonic. Experimental and theoretical investigation on the sonic and subsonic ejectors with a converging-diverging diffuser was carried out. Numerical simulation was adopted for an optimal geometry design and satisfying the required performance. Also, some ejectors with a various of nozzle throat and mixing chamber diameter were manufactured precisely and tested for the comparison with the calculation results.

  • KMTNet 광시야 망원경의 성능 개선을 위해 2017년에 이루어진 주요 작업으로 주경 배플(baffle) 설치, 주경 코팅, 돔 플랫(dome flat) 장치 설치에 대해 발표한다. 망원경 주경의 가장자리(turn down edge)는 경면 가공이나 코팅 상태가 균질하지 않을 수 있으며, 이로 인한 난반사는 밝은 별 주위에 넓은 wing profile과 여러 갈래의 방사상 빛줄기를 만든다. 이런 난반사를 제거하기 위해 주경면 바로 앞에 배플을 설치하였다. 주경의 광학 성능과 집광력이 최적이 되도록 배플 내부 직경 값을 1,580 mm로 조정하여 설치한 결과, 관측 영상에서 별의 영상이 크게 개선되었다. 호주 관측소는 상대적으로 습기가 높아서 망원경 주경의 반사율이 빨리 낮아졌으며, 이를 개선하기 위해 기존의 코팅(protected silver)을 제거하고 알루미늄으로 새로 코팅하였다. KMTNet 3개 관측소는 주경의 반사율과 코팅 면의 확대 영상을 정기적으로 모니터링하여 광학 성능의 변화를 추적하고 있다. 밤하늘 플랫(twilight sky flat) 영상을 보완하기 위해, 돔 인클로져에 플랫 스크린과 광원을 설치하여 돔 플랫 영상을 획득하였다. 마지막으로 KMNet 관측시스템을 운영하며 발생한 돔 회전 및 돔 셔터 구동부 문제 등에 대해 소개하고, 문제 발생 원인과 주기, 문제 해결 방안을 발표한다.

  • The application of inkjet technology has been broadening from home printers to manufacturing tools. Recently, there have been demands for high-resolution printing, especially in the field of printed electronics applications. To improve upon the conventional inkjet printing patterning method, electrohydrodynamic (EHD) inkjet technology has recently attracted attention because droplets smaller than the nozzle diameter can be ejected and materials with wider viscosity range can be used for jetting. In this study, an EHD jet printing system for fine patterning is presented. To print various patterns based on drop on demand printing, vector and raster printing algorithm are implanted in the printing software. Fine conductive patterns with line width of less than $7{\mu}m$ can be easily achieved via EHD jet using a nozzle with inner diameter of $8{\mu}m$.

Experimental and Numerical Analysis of DME Spray Characteristics in Common-rail Fuel System (커먼레일 연료시스템에서의 DME 분무 특성에 대한 실험과 해석적 연구)

  • Spray visualization and computer simulation of a DME injector have been conducted to investigate the enlarged injection hole diameter effect. To increase the reliability of the computational result, simulation results have been compared with the visualization test results, and the behaviors of a DME spray under various high-pressure and -temperature conditions have been computed. This study shows a discrepancy of 3.57% between the experimental and the computational results of penetration length for an injection pressure of 35 MPa and ambient pressure of 5 MPa. When simulating the engine conditions, the maximum penetration length of a fully developed DME spray is 42 mm when the temperature to pressure ratio is 300 K/MPa. The DME spray behavior is dominantly affected by the ambient pressure under the condition that the ratio is less than 300 K/MPa, and by the ambient temperature under the condition that the ratio is more than 300 K/MPa.
