Korean tourist areas are designated/managed in accordance with the Tourism Promotion Act. Since Taejongdae was designated as a tourist area in 1969, a total of 230 tourist areas have been designated/built/operated. It has been 46 years since the first tourist area was designated. According to the Tourism Area Life Cycle by Butler, it is estimated that the flow of the life cycle will be reflected in ups and downs over time. Thus, this study aimed to provide basic data for suggesting the direction of changes and development of the future tourist areas after analyzing the life cycle stage of domestic tourist areas, by applying the Tourism Area Life Cycle by Butler. The research method was based on the tourist areas by year, the number of visitors, and data of the target to derive the change transition curve, obtained by dividing the life cycle stages of the tourist areas based on the visitor rate of change. In the analysis results, more than 1/3 of domestic tourist areas are reaching the stagnation/decline stage, and tourist areas such as hot springs and seaside/beach resources show a particularly high ratio of stagnation/decline. The tourist areas that already have reached the stagnation/decline stage will need to analyze the causes for the decline, seek for resolution measures, and introduce new innovative elements. Even though the results of this study are not sufficient to be used as an absolute standard to decide the life cycle stage of domestic tourist areas, it is considered to be adequate for phenomenologically understanding the life cycle stage of Korean tourist areas. Based on this study, the causes for the stagnation/decline of tourist areas can be revealed while it can be also used as basic research to establish revitalization measures for tourist areas by introducing new innovation.

The study aimed to suggest a model sample for guidance system for copyright of domestic journals and open access policy. Toward this end, analyses were conducted to examine copyright of domestic journals and open access environment. As a result of analyses, it turned out that 33.8% of domestic journals had 'regulations on ownership of rights to papers published in journals,' and that the subject to ownership of rights to papers published in domestic journals accounted for 28.8%, which was the highest rate. Of domestic journals, 34% charged a subscription fee, and they were toll access journals, and 56% were free access journals. As for system examples of guide system for copyright of foreign journals and open access policy, analyses were conducted to examine and investigate SHERPA/RoMEO in the U.K. and SCPJ in Japan and generate considerations at a time of domestic application. What needs to be taken into account is that overseas examples are focused on collecting and introducing self-archiving policy by authors for academic journals, so there are limitations in offering information including open access publication policy for domestic journals. Based on the analytical result, the study designated the purpose, direction and four steps that need to be considered at a time of development of guide system models for copyright and open access policy for domestic journals before suggestion of the basic direction and operational methods by stage.
Accurate information on habitat distribution of protected fauna is essential for the habitat management of Korea, a country with very high development pressure. The objectives of this study were to develop a habitat suitability model of wild boar based on GIS and logistic regression, and to create habitat distribution map, and to prepare the basis for habitat management of our country s endangered and protected species. The modeling process of this restudyarch had following three steps. First, GIS database of environmental factors related to use and availability of wild boar habitat were built. Wild boar locations were collected by Radio-Telemetry and GPS. Second, environmental factors affecting the habitat use and availability of wild boars were identified through chi-square test. Third, habitat suitability model based on logistic regression were developed, and the validity of the model was tested. Finally , habitat assessment map was created by utilizing a rule-based approach. The results of the study were as folos. First , distinct difference in wild boar habitat use by season and habitat types were found, however, no difference in wild boar habiat use by season and habitat types were found , however, ho difference by sex and activity types were found. Second, it was found, through habitat availability analysis, that elevation , aspect , forest type, and forest age were significant natural environmental factors affecting wild boar hatibate selection, but the effects of slope, ridge/valley, water, and solar radiation could not be identified, Finally, the habitat at cutoff value of 0.5. The model validation showed that inside validation site had the classification accuracy of 73.07% for total habitat and 80.00% for cover habitat , and outside validation site had the classification accuracy of 75.00% for total habitat.

The main questions of this study are how to reuse GIS applications and what to do for interoperability of the applications in local governments. To answer the questions, related technologies and standards of GIS are investigated. International standard organizations, such as ISO/TC211 and OGC(OpenGIS Consortium), are working on GIS interoperability standards based on component technology and distributed computing environments. In this study, a standard model for interoperability of GIS applications in local governments is proposed based on the international standards. Standardization process of GIS interfaces in local governments is as followed: 1) modeling of GIS business and 2) establishment of GIS service architectures 3) defining GIS standard interfaces 4) GIS component. In conclusion, by developing interoperable GIS applications based on component technology the reusability in local governments can be realized.

This study suggests methods to evaluate the availability of anchorage in Ulsan port and determine the proper capacity of future anchorage in accordance with port development. Accordingly, the concept of an Anchorage Operating Rate (AOR) is introduced to evaluate the capacity of anchorage that was available in Ulsan port in 2014. Calculations revealed that the operating rate of all anchorages in Ulsan port did not exceed 100 %. However, in 2020 it is estimated that the AOR at E1 anchorage will be the highest with a rate of 168.3 %, followed by E3 with 131.1 %, E2 with 118.5 % and M with 108.7%. These findings indicate a shortage of anchorage by 2020. In order to decrease the AOR to a level that will not exceed 100 %, in accordance with port development in Ulsan, areas to accommodate an additional 11 ships at E1 anchorage, 1 ship at E2 anchorage, 2 ships at E3 anchorage and 1 ship at M anchorage will be necessary.

To understand the characteristics of open access journals in Korea, this research examined the 1,438 KCI journals in the fields of humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, medicine, agriculture & oceanography, art & sports, and interdisciplinary. 21% of the KCI journals are freely available at the publisher's websites or open access DBs(OA). 34% are available only in the commercial fulltext DBs(TA) and 34% combined TA and OA. 48% of the OA journals can be found on the free fulltext DBs and 52% are accessed on the publisher's websites. OA journals in humanities and social science are available mainly on the publisher's websites. As compare with this, OA journals of STM fields are available via the free fulltext DBs. Medicine(30%) and social sciences(25%) have the highest overall share of OA. There are field differences in the rate of OA journals. In the fields of social sciences and humanities, 15% of the journal are open access. In case of medicine field, 60% are open access journals. OA journals in natural science and engineering are each 33% and 24%.
With the revision of the 「State Property Act」, the conditions for using state-owned land have improved. The new government is also suggesting the necessity of using state-owned land to revitalize private investment and secure financial investment capacity. In line with these policy changes, this study examines Japan's policy on the utilization of state-owned land and effective use cases, and seeks to find policy implications from the perspective of managing and promoting the use of state-owned land. The direction of Japan's public land utilization policy is to induce optimal use of state-owned land through efficient management, and to increase the value of state property by promoting active use of state-owned land through linkage of state-owned and public land and private participation, etc. It appears that the policy is being pursued in the direction of suppressing the sale of state-owned land in the country. To promote the effective use of state-owned land, it is necessary to establish a clear policy direction first. In addition, the establishment of a transparent information disclosure system and the establishment of a strong control tower capable of coordinating interests between ministries are required. The starting point of policy establishment for efficient use of state-owned land is to change the perception that the actual owner of state-owned land is the people.

Urbanization results in increased runoff volume and flowrate and shortening in time of concentration, which may cause frequent flooding downstream. The retardation structures are used to eliminate adverse downstream effects of urban stormwater runoff. There are various types of flow retardation measures include detention basin, retention basin, and infiltration basin. In this study, to present a rough standard about location of detention pond for attenuating peak flow of urban area, the runoff reduction effect is analyzed at outlet point when detention pond is located to upstream drainage than outlet. The runoff reduction effects are analyzed under the three assumed basins. These basins have longitudinal shape (SF = 0. 204), concentration shape (SF = 0. 782), and middle shape (SF = 0.567). Numerous variables in connection with the storage effect of detention pond and the runoff reduction effects are analyzed by changing the location of detention pond. To analyze runoff reduction effect by location of single detention pond, Dimensionless Upstream Area Ratio (DUAR) is changed to 20%, 40%, 60%, and 80% according to the basin shape. In case of multiple detention pond, DUAR is changed to 60%, 80%, 100%, 120%, and 140% only under the middle shape basin (SF = 0.567). Related figures and regression equations to determine the location of detention pond are obtained from above analysis of two cases in this study. These results can be used to determine the location of appropriate detention pond corresponding to the any runoff reduction such as storage ratio and peak flow ratio in urban watershed.
The studies reported herein are on the varietal differences of rice in the effects of seeding times and nursery periods on the components such as, culm length, ear length, number of ears, ear weight, straw weight, and grain/straw ratio following the first series of studies on heading date. In the present investigations, 50 rice varieties, as the preceding studies, were seeded nine times at the interval of 15 days from March 15 to July 28 in 1963. Each variety seeded at respective time was transplanted in 40 days in nursery after seeded. Reviewing the result obtained from the first series of the studies on heading date, the number of days required to heading from seeding were decreased by delaying the seeding time. Most varieties tended to decrease in the number of days from seeding to heading by the 8th planting time. Some of varieties seemed to be decreased in the number of days from seeding to heading by 9th seeding time. However most varieties were failed to show heading delaying the seeding date at the 10th seeding. The results on the effects of altering the seeding time on the components and varietal differences of the response are summarized as follows; 1) Culm length; It appeared that culm length was shortened when the number of days from seeding to heading was decreased by delaying the seeding date. The varieties which needed many days to heading were also shortened in their culm length. 2) Ear length; Ear length was also shortened when the number of days needed tocheading was decreased, by delaying the seeding time. The varieties which needed many days for heading were also shortened in their ear length, while those which headed earlier seemed to be lengthened in their ear lengths. 3) Number of ears; It was shown that the number of ears was increased with the delay of the heading date, whereas, at the 9th seeding the number of ears was decreased when delayed the heading date. 4) Ear weight; Ear weight per hill was also likely to be heavy throughout the seeding times and varieties except the 7th and 8th seedings in which it appeared to be light on the contrary. 5) Straw weight; Straw weight became heavier as delayed the seeding date throughout all the varieties and seeding dates. 6) The grain/straw ratio; The grain/straw ratio was gradually increased by the 5th seeding time, reaching the pick at 5th. An examination of the varieties at each seeding date showed that the grain/straw ratio was low from 1st to 3rd seeding and from 7th to 9th seeding, when the number of days required to heading from seeding are increased. At the 4th seeding time-which is standard seeding time-5th, and 6th seeding times the ratio was high with the delay of heading.
Total travel cost of route which connects origin with destination (O-D) is consist of the total sum of link travel cost and route perception cost. If the link perception cost is different according to the origin and destination, optimal route search has limitation to reflect the actual condition by route enumeration problem. The purpose of this study is to propose optimal route searching formulation and algorithm which is enable to reflect different link perception cost by each route, not only avoid the enumeration problem between origin and destination. This method defines minimum unit of route as a link and finally compares routes using link unit costs. The proposed method considers the perception travel cost at both origin and destination in optimal route searching process, while conventional models refect the perception cost only at origin. However this two-way searching algorithm is still not able to guarantee optimum solution. To overcome this problem, this study proposed an orign based optimal route searching method which was developed based on destination based optimal perception route tree. This study investigates whether proposed numerical formulas and algorithms are able to reflect route perception behavior reflected the feature of origin and destination in a real traffic network by the example research including the diversity of route information for the surrounding area and the perception cost for the road hierarchy.
