It has been said that Gwangjudream, nevertheless a free press, plays a role as a local press that it should be, in a situation that other local papers do not. This study aims to reveal the forces that influence the article production of Gwangjudream, and to examine the interrelations between them, through using the methods of participant observations and depth interviews. In this course, it is eventually purpose of providing more deep understandings on the present circumstances and problems of the local papers and having a chance to concern the concrete ways to enhance them. This study results in revealing the five forces that primarily influence the article production of Gwangjudream: 1) as a historical force, keeping the spirit of the first publication that look forward to playing a role as a local press that it sound be, 2) as an individual force, the habitus of its members that is critical of mainstream society and culture, 3) as an organizational force, non-hierarchical culture and the independence of the editorial rights, 4) as a habitual force, the deny of beat system, 5) as an economical force, the power of sponsors, financial poorness, and the competition for attracting subscribers. While the historical force and the individual force play a role as fundamental circumstances and the organizational force and the habitual force as practical circumstances for producing articles, they encourage to emerge the characteristics of the articles that are related to citizens' everyday life and reflect locality, and criticize and keep an eye on government and other public offices. However, the economical force provides the circumstances that weaken the characteristics of Gwangjudream. The results of this study question the perspective to overly regard it as coming from their economical weakness that the local newspaper do not play a role as a local press that it should be.

The purpose of this study is put on the evaluation of public support for media with the case of Special Act on Supporting Local Press whose main purpose can be said to help local press in crisis intending the improvement of news quality. However, it was controversial whether public support on specific media under the governmental leadership, which is related to the disputes on its abrogation with the change of the regime. Therefore, this study tries to evaluate its achievement focused on its effect on the diversity of public opinion especially with the eyes of audience. In-depth interviews were executed to find out whether it had helped local press to improve public interest for the last three years of public support. The interviewees, the readers as well as monitors of local press, answered that there had been some improvement in news quality and diversity of local press in general. However, they thought that fund support for news gathering cost was problematic and would be negative in the long-term perspective. In conclusion, the interviewees regarded Special Act on Supporting Local Press as necessary one to help local press in crisis but pointed out also that the act might not enough to change local press because the situation they were facing is so complex. Hence, this study argues that the evaluation of Special Act on supporting Local Press should be approached Abstracts 683 not on the basis of political logics but of the public interest and democracy.

Media relations is one of the most important areas of PR in Korea. And PR business ethics is the cause of misunderstandings and complications in PR media relationship. Therefore, PR practitioners' perception about PR business ethics is important part. Along with the rapidly developing PR industry, the ethical aspects of PR are gradually being taken seriously in executing PR projects and activities. PR practitioners have the social responsibility to preserve media clean in media relations because they primarily keep various information of organizations. In order to guarantee peoples right to know and the free flow and the free flow of information, the PR ethics must be closely examined.

This research points out how the major newspapers and the Local newspaper try to report the issue of development in Incheon Free Economic Zone differently and observe how the press has played a role in a process. It is seen that the type of story-leading has been followed by properly traditional one as usual and reflected the recent trends well in both. The perspectives of ChosunIlbo to look at the regional issue is taken in the situation of a middle clear attitude but KyeonginIlbo is faithful to make the position of the monitor. In other words, a Metropolitan newspaper often deals with the regional issues in a more passive posture, while a Local daily newspaper tries to report the same issue in a more positive and active form. This kind of attitude upon news composition reflects the quality of the news, which is a standard of actual newspaper articles. The ChosunIlbo focuses on the political issues more while, KyeonginIlbo emphasizes on the cultural similarities. And they trace the economic importance, human interest but less to the structural figures.

This study conducted a topic modeling and semantic network analysis of 'korean wave' and its meaning in Korean society from 2000 to 2019 by applying an agenda setting theory. For this purpose, a total of 197,992 newspaper articles which reported 'korean wave' issues were analyzed by applying topic modeling and semantic network analysis. As a result, first, the word 'korean wave' mainly appeared in korean-related regions in the korean press. culture and economy. second, a total of 9 topics related to korean wave issues appeared. This was followed by 'broadcast', 'export', 'domestic and foreign affairs', 'education', 'beauty and fashion', 'music and performance', 'tourism', 'media(platform)', and 'region'. Lastly, korean wave was mainly discussed at the cultural and economic ares. In addition, it was clustered into five characteristics: 'cultural hallyu', 'business hallyu', 'education', 'environment', and 'geography'.

The aim of this study is to use media big data to understand the characteristics and changes in technology that prevents wandering and missing for dementia patients as well as supports safe walking since 1990 until recently. BigKinds as a media big data was used to conduct an analysis in two stages. In the results, first, the media reports began to be reported in the early 2000s, and it increased after 2014. Second, regarding to the characteristics of changes in technology and device utilization, there has been a change to advanced technology that combines AI and IoT, focusing on GPS. Drone has recently increased in media report, however problems of personal information security need to be resolved. Third, technology development focused on location identification by police and guardians. Based on the results, technology development and community cooperation for dementia patient were discussed.

In this paper, we calculate the word frequency by date and region using news data related to COVID-19 distributed for about 8 months from December 2019 to July 2020, and visualized the correlation with the current state data of COVID-19 patients using the results. News data was collected from Big Kids, a news big data system operated by the Korea Press Promotion Foundation. The visualization system proposed in this paper shows the news frequency of the selected region compared to the overall region, the key keyword of the selected region, the region of the main keyword, and the date change of the selected region. Through this visualization, the main keywords and trends of COVID-19 confirmed and infected people can be identified for previous events.

정부는 2006부터 2015년까지 총 9,805억원을 투자 제주 강정해안에 해군기동전단 함정과 대형 크루주선을 동시에 수용할 수 있는 민군복합항을 건설중에 있다. 건설과정 중에 정부, 지자체,언론,환경단체,종교단체 등과 많은 갈등이 도출되었으며, 이에 대한 정부의 다각적인 갈등관리 노력이 진행되었다. 하지만 이런 노력을 통해 제주민군복합항은 시뮬레이션을 통해 최종 안전성이 확인되었고 현재 정상 추진 중에 있다. 이번 발표에서는 국가안보정책 사업인 제주민군복합항이 정상 추진되기까지 정부와 군의 갈등관리 노력에 대해서 살펴보았다.

The study tried to explore ordinary people's press fairness concept being neglected by the mainstream of fairness research thus far. With empirical standpoint, this study first investigated (un)fairness concept held by general audience, and then compared it with existing ones long suggested by experts such as scholars and media workers. Also, the study examined audience's concept construct in terms of its characteristics and implications. A systematic sample of 300 adults in Seoul was interviewed and their answers (instances of press unfairness) were analyzed and categorized. The most serious problem in fairness, they pointed, was that the press's not neutral. Also, truth and balance were importantly raised as a press problem with regard to fairness. The result showed press ethics and commercial morals could be a significant element for people's view on press fairness. These elements are new to the literature and heuristic regarding how to approach toward fairness issue in our society. The study also discusses the implications of other findings.
