To achieve this goal, a new framework has been proposed, which integrates traditional firm network models in economic geography with the concept of value chain. Firms' networks are elaborated and classified by firm activities along with global value chain. Firm-activities are composed of primary activities and supportive activities. Primary activities include, production, sales, and marketing. Support activities are conceptualized as networks of R&D and of firm support services. On the basis of this framework, fermented soy product industry, representative industry of regional resource-based industries in Korea, is analyzed. Finally, this study shows the dynamics of regional resource-based industry.

  • Through the research, we found that the organizational systems of social enterprises in Europe have both properties of limited companies and stock companies in traditional organizational structures such as cooperatives, mutual companies and associations. However, social enterprises pursue interests of entire community, allowing the interested parties to join them in comparison with cooperatives. And for finance, most of the countries mainly use public fund such as national grants, but they are using more sales revenue. However, in our country the organizational systems of social enterprises have been introduced as the government and academic circles discussed expansion of social employment within a short period. So Korean enterprises tend to depend on national support rather than profitable activities for finance. Therefore, we need to develop a Korean convention or social agreement for the organizational systems of social enterprises. Furthermore, it is important for social enterprises to secure safe finance through development of social services and social cultures such as donation.

  • This paper qualitatively describes logistics behaviors of 113 companies located in Daegu-Gyeongbuk by considering various characteristics such as business location, trade volume, cargo types and the possession of company's own warehouse. A logit model is developed to investigate how predictor variables affect these companies' inclination of utilizing Third Party Logistics Provider(3PL). The estimation results of 102 effective data points show that among the four predictors the location of company's HQs (HQADD) and trade volume (TRDTEU) significantly increase company's tendency towards utilizing 3PL while the remaining two variables (BULK, WAREHS) imparting statistically insignificant influence. The results indicate that those companies located outside the region tend to implement a strategy of using more 3PL and also that the larger the trade volume of the company the more 3PL the company uses to improve the efficiency in logistics.
