Geospatial information for river network and watershed boundary have played a fundamental roles in terms of river management, planning and design, hydrological and hydraulic analysis. Irrespective of their importance, the lack of punctual update and improper maintenance in currently available river-related geospatial information systems has revealed inconsistency issues between individual systems and spatial inaccuracy with regard to reflecting dynamically transferring riverine geography. Given that digital elevation models (DEMs) of high spatial resolution enabling to reproduce precise river network are only available adjacent to national rivers, DEMs with poor spatial resolution lead to generate unreliable river network information and thereby reduce their extensible applicabilities. This study first of all evaluated published spatial information available in Korea with respect to their spatial accuracy and consistency, and also provides a methodology and tool to modify existing low resolution of DEMs by means of striation of conventional or digitized river network to replicate input river network in various degree of further delineation. The tool named FSND was designed to be operated in ArcGIS ModelBuilder which ensures to automatically simulate river network striation to DEMs and delineation with different flow accumulation threshold. The FNSD was successfully validated in Seom River basin to identify its replication of given river network manually digitized based on recent aerial photograph in conjunction with a DEM with 30 meter spatial resolution. With the derived accuracy of reproducibility, substantiation of a various order of river network and watershed boundary from the striated DEM posed tangible possibility for highly extending DEMs with low resolution to be capable of producing reliable riverine spatial information subsequently.
Lacquer is one of the most widely used natural resin in East Asia since Neolithic Age. As a major ingredient of lacquerware, lacquer is waterproof, insect-proof and rot-proof to be durable and anti-abrasion, generally utilized for mainly painting purpose. According to lacquerware excavated from several sites of Japan and China, lacquerware seems to appear in Neolithic Age. On the other hand in case of excavation research in Korea, lacquerwares are found after the Bronze Age. The initial purpose of lacquer is estimated to be adhesive, regarding the literatures mentioning bitumen(Yeoksceong ), animal glue(Kyeo) and egg alumen(Nanbaek). Especially piece of jar coffin unearthed in Pyeongtaek Daechu-ri site had trace of restoration by lacquer and hemp as an evidence of lacquer for adhesion in Pre-Three Kingdoms period. Since then a trend to restore the broken ceramics with lacquer and decorate with golden foil lasted especially in Joseon Dynasty. In the field of gold plated lacquer method, mother-of-pearl inlaying technique for lacquerware and restoration of buildings, lacquer is still used as adhesive. Due to matter of reversibility lacquer is being avoided for conservation and restoration of cultural heritage. Lacquer as a traditional material for adhesive since ancient times, however, has advantage in adhesion strength and durability. Because synthetic resin adhesive has problem of emission of volatile organic compounds and aging over time, lacquer receives attention recently. On the contrary, by combination adhesive from mixing lacquer and animal glue, already proved the possibility of applicability and chemical modification. A research to utilize lacquer as modern paint or functional material is also conducted continuously also in China and Japan. To put traditional material into practical use and modernize, chemical research from the molecular level of the lacquer is necessary in the near future.

In South Korea, there is a growing domestic need for a biotope map which contains ecological and environmental geographic information of a city. After the production of a Urban Ecological Maps(biotope map) by the Seoul metropolitan government in 2000, Natural Environment Conservation Act was revised in 2017 to make it mandatory for a local government to draw up its own urban ecological map. The aim of the present study was to find out ways to utilize an urban ecological map as a mean of communication between natural environment planning and urban planning sectors in a preliminary stage before introducing a big framework of 'environmental and ecological planning.' The northern area of Incheon metropolitan city was selected as the target area for this study. The major research content includes a comparative analysis of special-purpose zones, urban planning zones, restricted development zones, and conservation forests with focus on biotope types and Grades 1 of 'Biotope Type Assessment.' Farmland biotopes and forest biotopes within an area designated as an urban zone (residential, commercial and industrial zones) need to be redesignated as a zone which can conserve them. Especially considering a high possibility of damage to a large scale of natural green areas, these areas need to be readjusted immediately. If the entire area designated as an urban planning zone is to be developed, it is likely to cause serious damage to natural biotopes in the area (56.2%), including farmland biotope (30.4%), forest biotope (15.0%) and grassland biotope (10.8%), and thus, readjustment is needed. In case of a conservation forest, as it can possibly be damaged by the designation of special-purpose zones, it is necessary to match the designation of conservation forests or a special-purpose zones with their biotope types. In conclusion, we present a variety of thematic maps for utilization of an urban ecological map and propose a phase-specific environmental and ecological plan. Phase 1 is the establishment of a urban plan in consideration of ecological status; Phase 2 is the independent establishment of an environmental and ecological plan by an environment department; Phase 3 is an integrated management of ecological planning system and urban planning system.
The purpose of this study is to diagnose problems in the regulation and management of Restricted Development Zone and to prepare a construction plan to convert it to a data-based monitoring system. Unlike other land-use zones, the Restricted Development Zone is a exceptional zone that prohibits all development activities other than the minimum maintenance and must be strictly controlled and managed by the local government. However, the current Restricted Development Zone management is distributed according to the conditions of each local government, and it is not possible to monitor changes in the entire Restricted Development Zone as shown in the survey results. In particular, in this study, by introducing an AI-based monitoring system, MOLIT sends the results of detecting changes across the country at regular time points(monthly and quarterly) to the local governments based on the same regulation standards, and the local governments can be trusted while inputting the regulation results into the system. To propose this methodology, first, a survey and interview were conducted with local government officials and experts. Second, we analyzed cases in which AI analysis was applied to local governments and proposed a plan to improve the efficiency of regulation work according to the introduction of the monitoring system. Third, a plan was prepared to establish a monitoring system based on the advancement of the management information system. This monitoring system can be expanded and applied to land that needs periodic regulation and management in the future, and this study tried to propose a methodology and policy for this.

The proportion of buildings over 30 years old in Korea has increased, from 29.0% in 2005 to 37.8% in 2019. These old buildings were built during a time in which there was a lack of building-related safety standards in areas such as fire safety performance. Worse, during their years of use, many such old buildings have had illegal changes and extensions made, making them more vulnerable in terms of safety. Fire safety investigations are being conducted to prevent large-scale disasters in multi-use buildings, but no investigation has been conducted at the regional district level, where small-scale old buildings are concentrated. Therefore, to identify fire risk factors in the old building district where old buildings are concentrated, the composition characteristics of the buildings were first analyzed. To examine the spatial characteristics of old building districts in order to derive fire risk factors, the results of this analysis based on the structure, use, roof type, and year of approval for use are as follows. It was found through our analysis that as of the date of approval for the use of the building, the main structure of the building has the greatest impact.

Studies to obtain a fundamental data to improve the quantity and quality of wheat protein and to select the excellent breeding materials suitable for various uses of it were performed on the focuses of protein content, amino acid composition, and its related quality. The range of seed protein content of crossing block consisted with 319 varieties or lines was from 9.9% to 17.6% with the average of 13.2%. The minimum protein content was showed by Wonkwang, and the maximum by Chungnamjaerae and Suwon 210. Among the Korean native varieties or breeding lines of crossing block, at least twelve lines or varieties were selected as the high-protein wheats. In the effects of environmental conditions, the variations of protein content by cultivating locations and year were showed out to be up to 3.6%, and 3.3%, respectively. But the varietal characteristics of wheat protein were seemed to remain constantly. In the results of amino acid analysis, those related with bread quality, except proline were improved with the increase of seed protein. But the improvement of nutritional quality did not agree with the protein content increase of seed. The total content of amino acid essential to adults was very low with 266.6-273.3mg per one gram of protein compare to the 350mg (free from the amino acid of tryptophan) recommended by FAO/WHO. Especially the limiting amino acid such as methionine, lysine and threonine were critically deficient. The correlation between protein contents and sedimentation values was obtained r=0.656$\^$**/ of average notwithstanding widly different environmental conditions, and in some condition the value was obained about to r=0.956$\^$**/.
The rice culture techniques of the ancient China which have played a key role directly and indirectly, in development of ancient farming and its techniques of Korea, were established before Christ in terms of dry-farming and the spirit of the farming-first principle. Especially techniques of rice culture were developed by cultivation methods for deep plowing, storage of water and preservation use of soil fertility. Therefore, the techniques of transplanting methods, seeding in rows, use of iron-made farming tools and dam construction for irrigation were advanced. And rice varieties were differentiated to avoid disasters or to supply of rice for various uses in many areas. Also, because north China was the origin of Chinese agriculture in which population density was low and flat land was wide that were the cradle of Chinese agriculture, ‘Hwayungsunubeob’(firing and drawning weed control method) and fallowing were quickened as intensive techniques of rice culture. In connection with the view of agricuture with 'the theory of the cosmic dual forces and the five primary substances' of Han Mooje and Chamwye scholars, the techniques of seeding and selection of crops were gradually developed. From ‘Jeminyosul’ of the 6th century to ‘Wangjongnongseo’ of the 14th century, the techniques of rice culture have been developed continuously and additively, but were not improved thereafter Won dynasty. From this point of time, the time of agriculture in the end of Koryo age and by ‘Nongsajiksul’ were initiated.
Cities around the world have paid attention to public transportation as an alternative to reducing traffic congestion caused by automobile usage, excessive energy consumption, and environmental pollution. This study measures accessibility to subway stations in Seoul using a supply-demand-based accessibility technique. Then, the impacts were analyzed through land prices by use and segment. As a result of analysis using the multilevel hedonic price models, accessibility considering both supply and demand for the subway had a positive effect on both residential and non-residential land prices. The effect was stronger for residential than for non-residential. Further, among the accessibility measured by the three functions, the accessibility by the Exponential function was most suitable for the residential land price, and the accessibility measured by the Power function for the non-residential land price had the highest explanatory power. Also, looking at the impacts by land price segments, it was found that higher access to metro stations had the greatest positive impacts on the most expensive segment of residential and non-residential land prices. The results of this study can be applied not only to identify the impacts of public investment on neighborhoods, but also to support real estate valuation.

This study is to assess the impact of future land use change on hydrology and water quality in Gyungan-cheon watershed ($255.44km^2$) using SWAT (Soil and Water Assessment Tool) model. Using the 5 past Landsat TM (1987, 1991, 1996, 2004) and $ETM^+$ (2001) satellite images, time series of land use map were prepared, and the future land uses (2030, 2060, 2090) were predicted using CA-Markov technique. The 4 years streamflow and water quality data (SS, T-N, T-P) and DEM (Digital Elevation Model), stream network, and soil information (1:25,000) were prepared. The model was calibrated for 2 years (1999 and 2000), and verified for 2 years (2001 and 2002) with averaged Nash and Sutcliffe model efficiency of 0.59 for streamflow and determination coefficient of 0.88, 0.72, 0.68 for Sediment, T-N (Total Nitrogen), T-P (Total Phosphorous) respectively. The 2030, 2060 and 2090 future prediction based on 2004 values showed that the total runoff increased 1.4%, 2.0% and 2.7% for 0.6, 0.8 and 1.1 increase of watershed averaged CN value. For the future Sediment, T-N and T-P based on 2004 values, 51.4%, 5.0% and 11.7% increase in 2030, 70.5%, 8.5% and 16.7% increase in 2060, and 74.9%, 10.9% and 19.9% increase in 2090.

Korea's natural parks are managed by dividing them into four use districts: nature preservation district, natural environment district, cultural heritage district, and park village district within the park under the goal of 'conservation and sustainable use of natural parks'. However, the use districts divided in this way are designated by reflecting the results derived from the simple drawing overlapping method, and there is a limit in that objective and scientific evidence for this is insufficient. In addition, in Taeanhaean National Park, the case of this study, only a very small area of less than 1% of the nature preservation district is designated, and the natural environment district that serves as a buffer space is designated on an excessively wide scale, making it difficult to efficiently manage the national park. Therefore, the use district is not fulfilling its role. In this study, the purpose of this study was to present a method for analyzing the spatial characteristics of natural parks using environmental indicators and unsupervised learning analysis methods to set the use districts of natural parks. In this study, evaluation indicators that can evaluate the natural and human environments were derived, and the distribution patterns for each indicator were analyzed. Afterwards, by applying Self-Organizing Map (SOM) analysis, one of the unsupervised learning analysis methods, districts with similar characteristics were derived in Taeanhaean National Park, and the characteristics of each district were analyzed. As a result of the study, 7 districts with different characteristics were derived in Taeanhaean National Park, and by examining the contribution of each indicator together, it was possible to reveal that each district had different representative characteristics even though it was an adjacent area. This study evaluated natural parks by comprehensively considering the indicators of the natural and human environments. In addition, the SOM method used in the study is meaningful in that it can provide scientific and objective grounds for the existing zoning and apply it to the management plan.
