As Korean society is quickly aging and experiencing longer life-spans, there has been increasing interest in the quality of life of the elderly. Depression has been indicated as an significant factor in the later years of one's life. The purpose of this study is to seek ways to improve the quality of life of the elderly in senior welfare center as it examines the quality of life and the extent of depression in them. One-on-one interviews were conducted with 127 subjects from the senior welfare center from November, 2011 to January, 2012, using Korean versions of WHOQOL-BREF and the Beck Depression Inventory. Among the interviewees were 62 males and 65 females. The study showed that the quality of life measured 85.82(${\pm}16.35$) points out of 130 and the extent of depression measured 9.45(${\pm}8.02$) points. The quality of life showed significant differencies according to education, degree of health, type of health insurance, occupation, and financial independence; while the depression varied according to gender, education, degree of health, type of health insurance, occupation, means of daily living, financial independence and leisure activities. Significant correlation was shown statistically between quality of life and depression. It is recommended that local communities develop programs for the promotion of the aged health and active social participation as well as job creation for the elderly, in order to improve the quality of life.

This study was conducted to identify the effects of a comprehensive health care program for elderly living alone on blood pressure, fasting glucose, body composition, and depression at a senior welfare center in M city. The study employed a one-group, pre-posttest design. The comprehensive health care program lasted for three months, from March to June in 2015, and consisted of open health education, exercise class, health consulting and personal education, nutritional consultation, and a self-support group. The sample elements of this study were individuals over 65-years-old with hypertension or diabetes mellitus, living near a welfare center in M city. A total of 34 participants were initially selected, but five subjects who were attended less than five times were excluded; therefore, a total of 29 individuals were included. The t-test and Pearson's correlation were used to analyze the data. The characteristics of subjects were 19 male(65.52%) and 10 female(34.48%). The most common age was 70 (16 subjects;55.17%). Additionally, 14 subjects were suffering from hypertension and diabetes mellitus (48.27%), which were occupied in the largest number in this study. The average attendance number of health programs was 10.28 times(${\pm}4.17$). In this study of subjects were significantly lower systolic blood pressure(t=3.275, p=0.004), body weight(t=3.878, p=0.001), depression(t=3.308, p=0.004) compared to pre-test. As the elderly population has increased, the number of individuals living alone has also increased. Accordingly, then need for physical and psycho-social health programs targeting the elderly is greater.
This study sought to find out the impact of conflicts in social welfare organizations on job performance and to find out the effects of controlling participatory decision-making in their relationships. To that end, a survey was conducted on workers at social welfare centers in Seoul, Gyeonggi Province and Chungcheong Province, and 360 copies were finally used for analysis and Correlation and hierarchical regression and statistical significance analysis of the adjustment effects were performed. As a result, conflicts within the organization, job performance, and participatory decision-making showed a negative correlation, and as participatory decision-making in the relationship between conflict within the organization and job performance showed a controlled effect, the impact of conflicts within the organization on job performance was reduced. These results suggest that participatory decision-making can alleviate conflicts within an organization and at the same time increase job performance. Based on this, the following suggestions were proposed: They include conflict management strategies in the guidelines for social welfare subjects, establish guidelines for conflict management, provide training for workers, engage workers in employee evaluation and compensation system development, and operate permanent organizations such as the Conflict Handling Committee after investigating conflicts within social welfare organizations.

Objectives: The aim of this study is to measure health literacy levels and to identify health literacy related factors in vulnerable elders. Methods: The research design for this study was a descriptive survey design using convenience samples. Data collection was done by interviewing questionnaire with 200 elders from welfare centers in the cities. Data were analyzed by using percentage, Chi-square and multiple logistic regression with the IBM SPSS Statistics Ver. 24.0. Results: The results of this study are as follows: Vulnerable elders' sources of health information levels were very low, especially internet. In multiple logistic regression analysis, monthly income, sources of health information were significant accounted for OR 2.201, p<.05, OR 2.989, p< .01 health literacy. Conclusion: These results suggest that interventions for improving health literacy are necessary to enhance elders' finding of health information. Also, these results could be used in developing health literacy programs by internet.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the Effects of the Integrative Cognitive Training Program on Cognitive Function of the community elderly. Nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used. 28 subjects were assigned to each of the group. 24 sessions of the integrative Cognitive Training Program were applied to the experimental group from September to December. The program was provided twice per week for 12weeks, total 24 sessons to the experimental group. Cognition scale for older adults(CSOA) was used to measure cognitive function of the groups before and after the Intervention. The score of Cognition Scale for Older Adults was significantly increased in experimental group than in control group(p< .05). The results of the study that Integrative Cognitive Training Program can be vey useful to improve the cognitive ability for the community elderly.
The purpose of this study was to identify relationships among level of e-Health literacy, subjective health status and health-seeking behaviors. Subjects were 102 senior citizens who used the internet at least once in the last month and visited elderly community centers and welfare centers. Collected data were analyzed descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient, and Multiple Regression using SPSS version 25.0. Fifty five percent of subjects responded the average weekly internet usage hours was 'less than 3 hours', The e-health literacy (r=.349, p<.001) and subjective health status (r=.466, p<.001) were positively correlated with health seeking behavior. Subjects' gender (β=.22, p=.012), type of disease (β=.23, p=.013) and subjective health status (β=.38, p<.001) had significant effects on health-seeking behaviors. The results suggest that the development of intervention programs to increase the level of e-Health literacy and subjective health status to improve of their health-seeking behaviors.
This study is about the verification of the effectiveness of 'Resilient Parenting Program' based on Walsh's family resilience approach. The program was developed for strengthening parenting self-efficacy and increasing parent satisfaction and family relation as well. The program was practiced once a week for 8 weeks at the B community service center and each session lasted for 2 hours. The participants of the program were 13 mothers of elementary schools who had a need to increase their parenting skills and satisfaction. Among the 13 participants, 7 of them were arranged to the experimental group and 6 of them were included to the control group. The scores of the two groups at the point of pre-test, post-test and follow-up test, 3 months after the termination of the program, were analysed and compared through the Wilcoxen matched pairs signed rank test and Mann-Whitney U test. The scales adapted in this study were the Parent Satisfaction Scale, the Parenting Self-efficacy Scale, and the Family Relation Scale. As the results of the analyses, there were significant differences of the increases in the area of parent-child relationship satisfaction, general parent satisfaction, parenting self-efficacy, and family relation between the two groups. In conclusion, the effectiveness and utilization of the program were confirmed. Also, it is verified that the program can be an important tool for strengthening healthy family functioning through the interventions of parents in the field of community based social work practice.
Elderly males in retirement experiencing a change in their social status and role in the family are likely to develop negative perception toward the elderly and the elderly life. The purpose of this study is to examine how the experiences of age discrimination affect elderly male's perception and his attitude towards the elderly life, and to verify the mediation effects of the family and peer relations, which would necessitate the need for social welfare intervention. 215 participants, the elderly men registered at the welfare centers in Seoul Metropolitan area, participated in this research utilizing the structural equation modeling to verify the mediation effect. The findings are as follows. First, the elderly males's experiences of age discrimination is found not to have a significant effect on their perception towards the elderly. Second, the elderly males' discrimination experience has a significant effect on their attitude towards the elderly life. Third, it is found out that family function and peer relationship has complete mediation effect on the perception on the elderly experiencing discrimination in their perception towards the elderly life. Fourth, the family function and peer relationship has partial mediation effect on the elderly male experiencing discrimination in their attitude toward their life after retirement. This shows that more efforts are needed to reduce discrimination towards the elderly, and that strong family function and peer relations help the elderly to develop more positive perception and attitude towards the elderly life. In conclusion, it proposes an institutional approach towards the problem as well as increased support for elderly welfare service including family counseling intended to strengthen family function and alternative family, and more active social activities aimed at strengthening of peer relationship.

As the rapid development of economy in China, the problem in income gaps become a tough and sensitive social problem. Under this social background, this research try to find the main reasons of the income gap among the East China, West China, and the central China, basing on the analysis of its actuality and forming, and then put forward some solution plans. The research shows that in different development levels of China influencing factor of urban-rural income gap is also different. Take East China for example, the education support plays an important part of narrowing income gap. The influence of education support on urban-rural income gaps more significant than industrialization, what is more, its influence has the more reinforce trend, while in the less developed central and western part in China, what can narrowing income gap significantly is industrialization and the support for agriculture. Therefore, in order to solve the problem of income gap between urban and rural areas in China radically, it is not enough to perform medical insurance reform and social insurance reform in the whole county. Besides this, we should perform other kinds of reformation countermeasures which have their regional characteristics. For example, in eastern, the regional governments should reinforce the education system; in central china, they should focus on developing industry; in western, the regional governments should increase the expense to support the agricultural development, and so on. With these countermeasures, they could not only relieve the gap between urban and rural areas in China, but also ensure to develop economy substantially and stably in the whole country.
This study analyzed the relationship between the act on the guarantee of rights of and support for persons with developmental disabilities(Act for PWDD) and the similar ordinance of the local governments based on this law and focused on the correspondence(the rate of reflection) and the autonomy(differentiation). As of October 2017, 63 local government regulations and Act for PWDD were analyzed in this study. The results of the analysis are as follows: First, the rate of reflection in the ordinance of Act for PWDD was different according to the clause. In the aspect of emphasizing welfare support, the agreement between local ordinance and rate was high. While the Act for PWDD emphasized the rights of persons with developmental disabilities, there was little information about their right in the ordinance of local governments. This is evidence that current ordinance is based on the protective point of view for people with developmental disabilities. In the future, policy measures will be needed to ensure that respect for decision-making by persons with developmental disabilities and rights guarantees are included in the bylaws. Second, there is a provision that the rate of ordinance reflection is 0%, which may be guaranteed by other laws in the area, so it does not mean the absence of related system in the region, but there is possibility of institutional blind spot. In the future, consideration should be given to the complementarity of other legal systems in the area with developmental disabilities, so that persons with developmental disabilities should not be placed in institutional blind spots. Third, the autonomy(differentiation) of local ordinance was examined from the contents aspect and the administrative aspect to help practical implementation. The differentiation between the ordinances vary. Emphasizing the responsibilities of the head of the organization, emphasizing the fact-finding survey, setting up the welfare committee, or adding local needs were included to the ordinance. Local governments considering the enactment of ordinances in the future should refer to these cases and establish enactable local ordinances that take advantage of the characteristics of local autonomy.
