Knowledge transfer occurs in various social contexts, within individuals and groups, and, thus, is closely linked to social networks in an organization. This paper applies social network theory and social identity theory to knowledge management area. The subject of this study was organization members who transfer their knowledge. 296 questionnaires were collected and analyzed. The results are as follows. First, in-group and out-group's tie strength have a significant effect on knowledge transfer. Second, the study shows that the knowledge transfer influences positively individual, team and organizational performance. Lastly, the study verifies that the applied knowledge has a moderating effect on the relationship of the in-group's tie strength and knowledge transfer.

Today universities are regarded as one of the key institutions in the national and regional innovation systems. First of all the diffusion and distribution of the knowledges, technologies, information and know-hows from higher educations to regions are capable of promoting an innovation-led regional development. This study aims to evaluate the transfer and spatial diffusion of knowledge and technology from the Chonnam National University(CNU) in Kwangju to the regions and to focus the analysis of the technology transfer, personnel transfer and spin-off development. The results show that there are some differences in the spatial range and effects of the knowledge and technology transfer of the CNU by the type of transfers. And the Analysis provide evidence that the knowledge and technology distributions from the CNU make more and less positive contribution to regional developments.

본 연구는 우리나라 기업의 프로젝트조직 중심으로 기업조직이 보유한 조직지식의 특성이 조직 내 지식이전 및 활용과 경영 성과에 어떠한 영향을 주는지를 알아보고자 하는 실증연구이다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 구조방정식을 이용하여 국내기업들의 기업 지식 특성의 내부요인들이 지식의 이전, 활용과 경영성과에 어떠한 유의한 영향을 미치는지 실증분석을 통하여 알아보고자 한다.

Under the knowledge-based economy, the function of university as an institution to create and diffuse new knowledge and technology is emphasized than ever before. Today, universities around the world find themselves going beyond the traditional roles of research and teaching to drive the development of local economies through collaborations with industry. This study aims to examine the university-industry collaboration and identify the aspects of knowledge transfer and exchange between university and external agencies and intends to explain in particular how the knowledge transfer of the university affects the innovation and competitive advantage of regional businesses. The analysis on the case study of Chonnam National University focusing on the knowledge transfer, in particular examined through the contracted or commissioned researches suggests that only a small portion of the knowledge generated by the university is transferred to Gwangju and Jeonnam region, thus it can be seen that knowledge transfer of Chonnam National University partially affects the development of the regional economy. However, it is analyzed that this knowledge transfer differs somewhat depending on the client's sectors and the contents of research contracts.

This study explains the knowledge transfer process by exploring the significant factors affecting knowledge transfer within an organization from a socio-political perspective. Knowledge transfer occurs in various social contexts, within individuals and groups, and, thus, is closely linked to inter-organizational politics and social network in an organization. By conceptualizing knowledge as a socio-political process, this paper applies organizational politic theory and social network theory to knowledge management area. Here the paper shows that both organizational politics and social network such as in-group and out-group's tie strength have a significant effect on knowledge transfer. In addition, the study empirically verifies that knowledge management system has a moderating effect on the in-group's tie strength and knowledge transfer.

This paper examines the knowledge transfer effect in Korean venture systems. Existing literature has provided rich evidence of the effect of knowledge transfer, but we do not have micro mechanisms inherent in the process of knowledge transfer. This paper argues that knowledge transfer effects vary depending on the knowledge types, sources, and legacy. This paper also tests role of the two important pillars in knowledge transfer of Korean venture startups; venture capital and government. This paper also examines the role of absorptive capacity in the knowledge transfer process. With 1,862 sample of Korean venture firms, this study employed three methods depending on 3 different types of dependent variables: hierarchical regression, logistic regression, and survival analysis. Main findings include that 1) knowledge characteristic itself and its alignment with industry influence the knowledge transfer effects, 2) government support has a negative effect on financial performance of venture firms, but does not have significant interaction effect on knowledge transfer, and 3) the absorptive capacity of each firm moderates the knowledge transfer effects. The theoretical and practical implications are discussed.

In today's knowledge-based industries, knowledge can be said to be a significant factor that has a decisive impact on corporate competitiveness. Recently, Korean construction companies have been going through a difficult period of time because of various negative domestic and foreign factors, such as economic decline and a continued sluggish domestic construction market, mainly due to the Korean government's real estate regulations and increasing competition from overseas companies with improved technologies. To help domestic construction companies navigate such an environment, this study empirically analyzes how the nature of corporate knowledge impacts the acquisition, transfer and deployment of knowledge within the organization of a company. Through such empirical analysis, we looked into how internal attributes of corporate knowledge affect the acquisition, transfer and application of such knowledge for domestic construction companies, with the application of the structural equation modeling (SEM). According to the results of this study, it is clear that the attributes of corporate knowledge have a significant impact on the acquisition, transfer and application of corporate knowledge, and therefore on the managerial performance of domestic companies.

In a global software development project, knowledge transfer between a corporate headquarter and offshore development sites is considered to be important for effective software development. This article presents empirical research that investigates factors influencing knowledge transfer in global software development. The factors evaluated in this study are: 1) quality of communication infrastructure, 2) quality of partnership and 3) types of governance mechanism. Questionnaires were collected from offshore development sites in Mauritius. While the quality of both the partnership and communication infrastructure were found to be determinants to knowledge transfer, hierarchical governance had a negative impact on knowledge transfer. Although the results are similar to the previous studies done within an organizational boundary, implications of the results are far different due to the geographical distance among offshore locations. Future research is called for to investigate the relationships between governance type and knowledge transfer.
