An Empirical Analysis of the Effect of Governance-Peripheral Knowledge Fit on the Performance of IT Project Outsourcing: Focusing on the Perceptual Gap between Client and Vendor (IT 프로젝트 아웃소싱에서 거버넌스-주변지식의 조화가 프로젝트 성과에 미치는 영향에 대한 실증 분석: 고객사-공급사 간 인지차를 중심으로)

  • We investigated perceptual similarity and the difference between client and vendor in information technology (IT) outsourcing projects. Specifically, we focused on each player's perception of how the fit of governance and peripheral knowledge affects the performance of IT project outsourcing. For 107 IT projects, we surveyed both client and vendor in the same IT projects and compared the responses of each side. Through a dyadic analysis, we first found that both client and vendor put more weight on the vendor's peripheral knowledge than that of the client as a positive influencer of project performance. However, regarding the governance style of an IT project, client and vendor showed completely different perspectives. The client believed that the vendor's peripheral knowledge positively contributes to the performance of IT project under the governance of outcome control. However, the vendor showed that its peripheral knowledge creates synergy effects under the governance of process control. Our interpretation of the perceptual similarity and difference between client and vendor delivers managerial implications for businesses that process IT projects.

  • 정보기술과 지식 사회의 발달로 인해 기업의 다양한 업무 프로세스를 대행해주는 비즈니스 프로세스 아웃소싱(Business Process Outsorucing: BPO)이 대표적 아웃소싱 형태로 자리잡아가고 있다. BPO의 수용에 대한 의사결정은 전략적 관점에서 매우 신중하게 이루어져야 함에도 불구하고, 국내 기업을 대상으로 한 BPO의 채택과 확산에 관한 실증적 연구는 거의 찾아보기 어려운 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구는 국내 기업의 BPO 수용 의사결정에 영향을 미치는 주요 요인들을 추출하고, 이러한 요인들이 수용의도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 검증한다. 이를 위해 BPO 수용 관련 위험요인과 혜택요인을 추출하고, 이들 요인이 신뢰를 매개하여 수용의도에 미치는 영향 관계를 실증적으로 탐색해 향후 BPO연구를 위한 명제와 모델을 제시한다. 실무적으로는 BPO 수용요인에 관한 검토를 통하여 향후 BPO 추진 기업을 위한 성공적 추진 전략을 제시한다.

  • Owing to the current economic downturn, one of the most important goals of the organizations who are actively involved in Information Technology Outsourcing (ITO) is the cost efficiency. We focus on supplier firm's domain understanding to make the cost efficiency; therefore, we examine how the disadvantages from lower domain knowledges affect outsourcing performance moderated by outsourcing ratio and knowledge change environments. That is, if clients can endure disadvantage from service providers' lower domain knowledge, they can achieve cost efficiency by choosing lower domain knowledge suppliers with less expensive cost. To examine performance gap depending on the environments, we applied 'A Learning Model of IT Outsourcing' which is suggested by previous literature. As a result, we suggest five strategies for clients to contract with suppliers which have lower domain knowledge: (1) Prepare the strategy to endure disadvantages from the early stage. (2) Make the strategy depending on outsourcing ratio. (3) Knowledge transfer between organizations is important. (4) Make a short-term contract if they do not have good environments for organizational learning. (5) Client's knowledge change environments are more important than those of supplier's. Finally, we offer various implications for clients and suppliers in IT outsourcing.

  • Much attention is being paid to social media because of their potentials to draw collective intelligence. In this context does this study attempt to draw some implications of social media as knowledge creation platform and suggest a conceptual framework of social media management. Information sharing among the public through social media literally produces profound influence throughout the society and thus not only business firms but all levels of public institutions, including government are seeking to take its advantage for various purposes such as public relations, crowd sourcing, etc. Especially considering that social media open the possibility of social knowledge creation platform in the Big Data era, this study is perhaps able to contribute to further development of social media management model together with a series of measuring indexes.

  • This research examined a study on the effect of the self-determination and motivation in the crowdsourcing on the continuous participation intention. This study has classified the three elements of the self-determination which is not forced by outer pressure has intended to analyze practically the effect on the motivation of the customers participating in the crowdsourcing into the intrinsic motivation phase and extrinsic motivation phase. The autonomy, competence and relatedness could be verified with the intrinsic motivation phase of the participants who affect positively the enjoyment and accomplishment. In the effect autonomy, competence and relatedness on the monetary compensation and recognition by others of the extrinsic motivation phase, the hypothesis that the effect autonomy, competence and relatedness of the on the monetary compensation would be negative was overruled, which must have been because while the participation in the crowdsourcing is proposing voluntarily one's own ideas, the concept that the monetary compensation makes the participants participate in order to perceive others not in the voluntary proposals but in the competitive relationships and win them worked and thus the autonomy was perceived negatively. Also, the reason why the relationship between the monetary compensation and the autonomy, competence and relatedness was not supported can be said to be because the crowding-out effect which decreases the intrinsic motivation affected the external compensation and the motivation.

A case research for standard of cost in design service (디자인서비스의 대가기준 사례조사 연구)

  • Design is a knowledge service industry that is undervalued in Korea despite its large impact on the development of high - tech industries such as national industrial policy and the fourth industrial revolution. In the design industry, the strategic outsourcing system collapses. This phenomenon is not confined to the domestic market, and the design service companies of design-developed countries such as Europe and the US are also struggling with the classic. Accordingly, some implications were found through the case study of domestic design projects, including overseas, that private companies are more concerned with design cost reduction and cost structure to secure liquidity rather than improving design quality level and pursuing innovation through design outsourcing. It is big. As design is a core competency of a company, internalizing core design tasks, and as products and services become platforms, regional design countermeasures have been reduced, which has led to a decline in the cost standard for large companies' design service outsourcing. In design service industry, design outsourcing is performed at the request of the client, and the service value of the outsourcing is received. In the early 2000s, the importance of design management led global consulting companies to pursue M & A rather than cooperate with design service companies, and Samsung Electronics and other large corporations acquired a large number of excellent design personnel and developed their own design management research institute. This study investigated the design service outsourcing cases of public and private companies (large corporations, midsize companies) widely in relation to the design service price criterion, and grasped the indicators of the actual size and level of the design industry. I will make suggestions about the value and direction of the global design industry through interviews with experts and literature on the changes and influences of these cost criteria.

  • Although the interaction effects of knowledge sourcing strategies vary depending on environmental conditions such as knowledge intensity, most prior empirical research have failed to prove the effects of environmental conditions on the relationship between knowledge sourcing strategies and firm performance. In order to fill this gap, this study examines how knowledge intensity affects the relationship between knowledge sourcing strategies and firm performance. The results of this study indicate the interaction effects of knowledge sourcing strategies in high knowledge intensity environment are different from the effects in low knowledge intensity environment. This study expands knowledge management research by identifying the effects of knowledge intensity on the relationship between knowledge sourcing strategies and firm performance. Furthermore, it offers valuable practical guidelines for managers in selecting successful combinations of knowledge sourcing strategies with the consideration of knowledge intensity.

The Effect of Market Orientation of Knowledge-Based Service Suppliers on the Sourcing Process of Service Recipients (지식기반서비스 공급자의 시장지향성이 수혜자의 소싱과정에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigates the effect of market orientation of knowledge-based service suppliers on the sourcing process of service recipients. Focusing on a dyadic relationship between a supplier and a buyer, this study proposed a conceptual model of market orientation incorporating the antecedents and consequences of market orientation. This study empirically tested research hypotheses delineated from the conceptual framework. The present study revealed that the impact on the buyer's performance of the supplier's customer and competitor orientation turned out to be more influential than that of inter-departmental cooperation. Also these two dimensions of customer and competitor orientation played a positive role in reducing buyer's perceived risk and uncertainty related to the evaluation of services out-sourced. Interestingly enough, the supplier's perceived importance on the distance between the buyer and supplier remains important especially when the degree of buyer's market orientation is high. This finding is somewhat contrary to the fact that the geographic location of the buyer becomes less important for the internet-based B2B service providers. Based on the findings, this study suggested managerial implications and broadened the scope of academic research in the field of business services. Future research directions and the limitations of this study are also discussed.

  • e-Business는 최근 IT산업에서 가장 빈번히 등장하는 화두이다. 인터넷이 빠른 속도로 보급되고 시간과 공간의 한계를 극복할 수 있는 가능성을 제공함에 따라 기존의 오프라인 시스템들의 인터넷과 연동이 추구되고 있다. 인터넷과의 연동은 단순한 정보의 공유뿐만 아니라 지식, S/W, E/W 등의 거의 모든 IT자원들에 대한 공유를 촉발시키고 있다〔1〕. 1990년대 정보기술 아웃소싱은 괄목할 만한 성장을 가져왔다. 최근 새로운 종류의 아웃소싱 비즈니스 모델인 ASP(Application Service Providers)의 등장으로 정보기술 시장의 주요 이슈로 주목받고 있다. 하지만 아직 초기단계이기 때문에 수요층의 인식부족, 효과에 대한 확신 부족 등과 같은 여러 걸림돌이 있지만 e-Business의 핵심영역으로 발전할 것으로 전망된다. ASP는 e-Business관련 소프트웨어 및 어플리케이션을 배송하는 하나의 방식이다. 즉, ASP는 e-Business를 가능하게 하는 Enabler라고 볼 수 있다〔3〕. 본 연구는 ASP(Application Service Provider, 이하 ASP)의 서비스 품질의 차원을 분류하여 고객에게 보다 중요한 품질 요인을 찾기 위한 측정의 개념적 틀을 제시하고자 한다.
