A Study on Industry-specific Sustainability Strategy: Analyzing ESG Reports and News Articles (산업별 지속가능경영 전략 고찰: ESG 보고서와 뉴스 기사를 중심으로)

  • As global energy crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic have emerged as social issues, there is a growing demand for companies to move away from profit-centric business models and embrace sustainable management that balances environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors. ESG activities of companies vary across industries, and industry-specific weights are applied in ESG evaluations. Therefore, it is important to develop strategic management approaches that reflect the characteristics of each industry and the importance of each ESG factor. Additionally, with the stance of strengthened focus on ESG disclosures, specific guidelines are needed to identify and report on sustainable management activities of domestic companies. To understand corporate sustainability strategies, analyzing ESG reports and news articles by industry can help identify strategic characteristics in specific industries. However, each company has its own unique strategies and report structures, making it difficult to grasp detailed trends or action items. In our study, we analyzed ESG reports (2019-2021) and news articles (2019-2022) of six companies in the 'Finance,' 'Manufacturing,' and 'IT' sectors to examine the sustainability strategies of leading domestic ESG companies. Text mining techniques such as keyword frequency analysis and topic modeling were applied to identify industry-specific, ESG element-specific management strategies and issues. The analysis revealed that in the 'Finance' sector, customer-centric management strategies and efforts to promote an inclusive culture within and outside the company were prominent. Strategies addressing climate change, such as carbon neutrality and expanding green finance, were also emphasized. In the 'Manufacturing' sector, the focus was on creating sustainable communities through occupational health and safety issues, sustainable supply chain management, low-carbon technology development, and eco-friendly investments to achieve carbon neutrality. In the 'IT' sector, there was a tendency to focus on technological innovation and digital responsibility to enhance social value through technology. Furthermore, the key issues identified in the ESG factors were as follows: under the 'Environmental' element, issues such as greenhouse gas and carbon emission management, industry-specific eco-friendly activities, and green partnerships were identified. Under the 'Social' element, key issues included social contribution activities through stakeholder engagement, supporting the growth and coexistence of members and partner companies, and enhancing customer value through stable service provision. Under the 'Governance' element, key issues were identified as strengthening board independence through the appointment of outside directors, risk management and communication for sustainable growth, and establishing transparent governance structures. The exploration of the relationship between ESG disclosures in reports and ESG issues in news articles revealed that the sustainability strategies disclosed in reports were aligned with the issues related to ESG disclosed in news articles. However, there was a tendency to strengthen ESG activities for prevention and improvement after negative media coverage that could have a negative impact on corporate image. Additionally, environmental issues were mentioned more frequently in news articles compared to ESG reports, with environmental-related keywords being emphasized in the 'Finance' sector in the reports. Thus, ESG reports and news articles shared some similarities in content due to the sharing of information sources. However, the impact of media coverage influenced the emphasis on specific sustainability strategies, and the extent of mentioning environmental issues varied across documents. Based on our study, the following contributions were derived. From a practical perspective, companies need to consider their characteristics and establish sustainability strategies that align with their capabilities and situations. From an academic perspective, unlike previous studies on ESG strategies, we present a subdivided methodology through analysis considering the industry-specific characteristics of companies.

  • This thesis is an interpretation of "Golden bird" of Grimm's fairy tale and similar other tales from the perspective of analytical psychology. Golden bird story start loss of golden apple in king's garden. King and three sons are one-sided structure live without female members in family. They need feminine aspect. Adventure and journey of stupid youngest son can be seen as a individuation process in analytic psychology. Ego meets several painful experience during journey. New Kingdom has a new specific collective consciousness. This process is initiation, which is a supplement to feminity after recovery of increased consciousness, marriage with the princess, which is possible to unify the sexes (coniunctio oppositorum). The ego who got the apple, bird, horse, and princess which is shown to be a supplement to feminity, does not attain a complete success. Although the youngest comes out after brothers' failure, yet separation and abandonment of persona are difficult challenges and after all he achives a higher consciousness and then he primarily marries the princess, his Anima, after he executed his brothers for his repeated hardships, when the intellectual capacity is sacrificed as offering. Also, the fox restores himself from magic after the youngest son kills him and cut his head and feet, as the fox's wish. To be transformed into a human being. It experiences another consciousness. Finally, unifying the coniunctio oppositerum is fulfilled and a divine bond achieves the wholeness and it is accomplished individuation. In clinical practice, fox is compared to a therapist as a guide of individuation process who lead clients.

  • In this paper, I illustrate the some examples of socio-economic influence of railroad in Korea. The Korean railroad has been running for 109 years now since it started operation in 1899. The opening of railroad in Korea has been affecting influence in our society not only transportation but also infrastructure building and the formation of new cities which they were built along the rail network like Daejeon. I have come up with some examples, which railroad has affected the in our society. For example, the changes of transport route from road to railroad, emerging the new cities, industries and culture. This paper contributes to look over the various function of railroad in Korea. Moreover it will be compared with Japan's railroad influence in his country. It gives us a peculiarity and universality in railroad's function including colonial policy

  • This study attempts to show an example of developing and applying thermal hydraulic simulation model for Aircraft-EHA. The overview of research procedure is as in the following. First, The unit hydraulic simulation model, which reflects physical quantity answering engineer's purpose is developed. Second, The unit hydraulic simulation model is combined, and then branched out to EHA hydraulic model. Third, a simulation model including flow thermal is developed, and then oil temperature rise time according to 'initial temperature and load' is examined. Finally, the master graph that can be used for designing EHA combined with thermal hydraulic analysis results in several cases is compiled, and suggested. AMESim, commercial software, is used through whole procedure.

  • Recent automotive market is changing rapidly with eco-friendly, fuel-efficient, unmanned autonomous. In order to grow domestic automotive industry, various companies such as IT, marketing, advertising/PR, production/manufacturing, distribution have to need the fused global value chain(GVC) production system. The purpose of this study is that Small parts makers will look for support measures to enter the GVC of global automakers. To this end, to examine the status and cooperation between vehicle manufacturers and component suppliers in GVC. Part SMEs will look for Realistic and possible support policy direction needed to enter the carmakers GVC. In order that the small parts company have to enter the GVC of the car manufacturers in the automotive industry, the small parts company should understand the nature and governance of large corporations that operate the GVC, and develop a tailored strategy.

  • The flow apportioning algorithms with digital elevation models have been developed to reflect reasonable flow divergence properties but they showed several defects related to the connectivity of channel cells, various divergence features along to local topography and channel cells' size etc. Topographic data used by existing flow apportioning algorithms are flow accumulation area and local slope. However, the size and location of channel cells which play the dominant role in the flow pathway were not properly considered. Therefore, a new flow apportioning algorithm considering various flow divergence characteristics in the complicate terrain is proposed. The GA optimization scheme is used to represent the location and scale of the channel pixel. Improved result can be obtained by using both a new flow apportioning algorithm and optimization.

  • 하천으로 유입되어 수질 오염을 야기하는 오염원은 오염 배출원이 명확하여 하나의 점으로 나타낼 수 있는 점오염원(Point Source)과 오염원이 명확치 않은 비점오염원(Non-point)으로 구분된다. 생활하수, 축산폐수와 같이 오염원이 명확한 점오염원은 하천 유입 이전에 처리장을 거쳐 정화작업이 가능한 반면, 비점오염원은 오염원이 명확치 않아 처리에 어려움이 따른다. 또, 오염물의 양과 이동 경로가 예측이 불가능하고 강우시에는 특별한 처리 없이 하천으로 바로 유입된다. 비점 오염원의 종류는 토사, 영양물질, 유기물질, 농약, 바이러스 등 다양하다. 이 중에서 토양에 흡착되어 이동하는 질소와 인은 하천으로 유입되어 부영양화를 야기하는 특성이 있어 더욱 처리가 필수적이다. 이러한 비점오염원으로 인한 수질 오염을 줄이기 위해 여러 최적관리기법(Best Management Practices, BMPs)이 제시되어 있으며 오염 물질의 하천 유입을 차단하는 것에 중점을 둔다. 가장 널리 이용되는 방법으로는 비점오염원 저감시설 중 하천변에 식물체를 설치하여 토양의 유실을 막는 식생대(Vegetative Filter Strip, VFS)가 있다. 식생 밀집 지역의 설치를 통해 표면 유출을 차단하고 토양 유실 감소와 수체로의 오염물질 확산을 막을 수 있다. 이에 VFSMOD-w를 이용하여 강우시 식생대를 통한 토양 유실 감소 효율에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 연구 대상 지역으로 비교적 수문 및 토양 자료가 풍부한 청미천 유역을 선정하였다. 그 결과, 식생대의 길이와 식생대 내 식물체의 파종간격이 가장 지배적인 영향을 미치는 것이 확인된다. 이때, 식물체의 종류는 식물체 파종으로 인해 변화되는 토양의 수정된 Manning의 조도계수로 구분한다. 모든 강우 및 식물체 조건이 동일할 때, 식생대 내 식물의 파종 간격이 좁고 식생대의 길이가 길수록 토사 저감 효율이 증가하는 결과가 도출되었다. 식물체의 높이, 식물체의 종류 및 식물의 파종간격이 입력 자료로 요구되나 이 중 식물체의 높이는 토사 저감 효율에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 또, 동일한 강우 조건에서 식생대의 길이가 0.5 m에서 1.0 m로 2배 증가하였을 때 토사 저감 효율이 두 경우 모두 95% 이상의 효율을 보이는 것이 나타났다. 이는 식생대의 길이가 증가할수록 토사 저감 효율이 증가하나 일정 길이 이상이 되면 대부분의 토사가 저감되는 것을 의미한다. 결론적으로 식생의 파종 간격이 좁을수록 토사 저감 효율이 증가하더라도 식물체의 성장을 고려한 적절한 파종 간격을 선정하여야 한다. 즉, 식생대의 설치는 적절한 파종 간격 및 식생대 길이를 식생대 설치지역의 강우 특성에 따라 결정지어야 한다고 판단된다.

Importance of Governance Infrastructure on Sustainable Agricultural Production: A Case of Central Asia (지속가능한 농업생산에 있어서 거버넌스 기반의 중요성: 중앙아시아 사례 분석)

  • Achievement of sustainable agricultural development is one of the most important issues in many developing countries. In addition, basic inputs such as labor and capital, and social and environmental factors are important factors in agricultural production in developing countries. This study examines impact of governance conditions of Central Asian newly independent Post-Soviet Union countries on agricultural production and production efficiencies by using World Bank's Worldwide Governance Indicators. The studied countries had similar socio-economic conditions and environments before independence; however, those countries have different forms of development. Empirical results showed that governance improvement helped to increase agricultural production significantly. In addition, we found that each governance factor has different effects on agricultural production. The findings of this study would be a base for sustain agricultural production in developing countries, and stressed the necessity of improved governance conditions as well as input investments for achievement of agricultural development.

RF-PECVD로 성장시킨 $a-Si_{1-x}C_x:H$ 박막의 증착조건에 따른 광학적 특성 분석

  • 최근 비정질 SiC 박막은 열과 광안정도면에서 비정질 Si 박막에 비해 우수하며 공정변수들을조절함으로써 비교적 쉽고 다양하게 광학적.전기적 특성을 얻을 수 있고, 낮은 광흡수계수 및 105($\Omega$cm)1 이상의 높은 전도도를 가지고 있어 Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition(PECVD)을 통해 가전자제어 (Valency electron control)가 가능한 비정질 SiC 박막이 제작된 이래 대한 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 결정성이 없는 비정질 물질은 상대적으로 낮은 온도에서 성장이 가능하며, 특히 glow-sidcharge 방식으로 저온에서 성장시킬 수 있음에 따라 유리등과 같은 다른 저렴한 물질을 기판으로 이용, 넓은 면적의 비정질 SiC 박막을 성장시켜 여러 분야의 소자에 응용되고 있다. 비정질 SiC 박막이 넓은 에너지띠 간격을 갖는 물질이라는 점과 화학적 안정성 및 높은 경도, 비정질성에 기인한 대면적 성장의 용이성 등의 장점이외에, 원자의 성분비 변화에 의해 에너지띠 간격(1.7~3.1eV)을 조절할 수 있다는 점은 광전소자의 응용에 큰 잠재성이 있음을 나타낸다. PECVD 방식으로 성장된 비정질 SiC 박막은 태양전지의 Window층이나 발광다이오드, 광센서, 광트랜지스터 등에 응용되어 오고 있다. 본 연구에서는, RF-PECVD(ULVAC CPD-6018) 방법에 의하여 비정질 Si1-xCx 박막을 2.73Torr의 고정된 압력에서 RF 전력(50~300W), 증착온도(150~30$0^{\circ}C$), 주입 가스량 (SiH4:CH4)등의 조건을 다양하게 변화시켜가며 증착된 막의 특성을 평가하였다. 성장된 박막을 X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy(XPS), UV-VIS spectrophotometer, Ellipsometry, Atomic Force Microscopy(AFM)등을 이용하여 광학적 밴드갭, 광흡수 계수, Tauc Plot, 그리고 파장대별 빛의 투과도의 변화를 분석하였으며 각 변수가 변화함에 따라 광학적 밴드갭의 변화를 정량적으로 조사함으로써 분자결합상태와 밴드갭과 광 흡수 계수간의상관관계를 규명하였고, 각 변수에 따른 표면의 조도를 확인하였다. 비정질 Si1-xCx 박막을 증착하여 특성을 분석한 결과 성장된 박막의 성장률은 Carbonfid의 증가에 따라 다른 성장특성을 보였고, Silcne(SiH4) 가스량의 감소와 함께 박막의 성장률이 둔화됨을 볼 수 있다. 또한 Silane 가스량이 적어지는 영역에서는 가스량의 감소에 의해 성장속도가 둔화됨을 볼 수 있다. 또한 Silane 가스량이 적어지는 영역에서는 가스량의 감소에 의해 성장속도가 줄어들어 성장률이 Silane가스량에 의해 지배됨을 볼 수 있다. UV-VIS spectrophotometer에 의한 비정질 SiC 박막의 투과도와 파장과의 관계에 있어 유리를 기판으로 사용했으므로 유리의투과도를 감안했으며, 유리에 대한 상대적인 비율 관계로 투과도를 나타냈었다. 또한 비저질 SiC 박막의 흡수계수는 Ellipsometry에 의해 측정된 Δ과 Ψ값을 이용하여 시뮬레이션한 결과로 비정질 SiC 박막의 두께를 이용하여 구하였다. 또한 Tauc Plot을 통해 박막의 optical band gap을 2.6~3.7eV로 조절할 수 있었다.

Vertical Buoyant Jet in Tidal Water -Crossflowing Environment- (흐름 수역(水域)에서 연직상향부력(鉛直上向浮力)?)

  • A plane buoyant jet discharged vertically upward into a crossflow is analyzed by numerical solution of the governing equations of continuity, momentum and constituent transport. The turbulent transport is modelled by the Prandtl's mixing length theory. In the numerical solution procedure, the governing equations are transformed by stream function and vorticity transport, non-dimensionalyzed by discharge velocity, slot width, and parameters representing flow characteristics, and solved by Gauss-Seidel iteration method with successive underrelaxation. The numerical experiments were performed for the region of established flow of buoyant jet in the range of discharge densimetric Froude number of 4 to 32 and in the range of velocity ratio of 8 to 15, which is the ratio of discharge velocity to crossflow velocity. Variations of velocities and temperatures, flow patterns and vorticity patterns of receiving water due to buoyant jet were investigated. Also investigated are the effects of velocity ratio and discharge densimetric Froude number on the trajectories of buoyant jet. Computed are velocities, temperatures and local densimetric Froude numbers along the trajectory of the buoyant jet. Spreading rate and dispersion ratio were analyzed in terms of discharge densimetric Froude number, local densimetric Froude number and distance from the source along the jet trajectory. It was noted that the similarity law holds in both the profiles of velocity and temperatures across the jet trajectory and the integral type analysis of Gaussian distribution is applicable.
