  • Among various methods to compare reference signatures with an input signature, the segment-to-segment matching method has more advantages than global and point-to-point methods. However, the segment-to-segment matching method has the problem of having lower recognition rate according to the variation of partitioning points. To resolve this drawback, this paper proposes a signature verification method by considering linear discriminant analysis as well as segment-to-segment matching method. For the final decision step, we adopt statistical based Bayesian classifier technique to effectively combine two individual systems. Under the various experiments, the proposed method shows better performance than segment-to-segment based matching method.

  • In this paper, the algorithm discriminating the existence and nonexistence of bolts and nuts using image processing in an automobile T-Bar influencing the vibration of a frame, is introduced. To distinct whether bolts and nuts exist or not, the features of bolts and nuts are learned, and then these feature values are matched using a statistical pattern matching algorithm. Furthermore, the minimum and maximum variation rate of pixel values are used since the matching rate is low with the large variation of pixel values of bolts and nuts in each image. The proposed method in this paper is very efficient in the automation of inspection requiring real time since the inspection time is significantly reduced compared with the conventional methods.

  • This paper prrsents shape matching of two-dimensional object. This shape matching is applied to two-dimensional simple c10sedcurves represented by polygons. A large number of shape matching procedures have proposed baseed on teh view that shape can be represented by a vector of numerical features, and that this representation can be matched using techniques from statical pattern recognition. The varieties of features that have been extracted from shapes and used to represent them are numerous. But all of these feature-based approches suffer from the shortcoming that the descriptor of a segment of a shape do not ordinarily bear any simple relations hip to the description for the entire shape. We solve the segment matching problem of shape matching, defined as the recognition of a piece of a shape as approximate match to a part of large shape, by using relaxation labeling technique.

  • This paper proposes an architecture of two-stage string matching engine with content-addressable memory(CAM) and parallel bit-split string matchers for deep packet inspection(DPI). Each long signature is divided into subpatterns with the same length, where subpatterns are mapped onto the CAM in the first stage. The long pattern is matched in the second stage using the sequence of the matching indexes from the CAM. By adopting CAM and bit-split string matchers, the memory requirements can be greatly reduced in the heterogeneous string matching environments.

  • A new system for logic optimization at gate-level is proposed in this paper. Ths system is rule-based, i which the rules represent the local trnsformation replacing a portion of circuits with the simplified equivalent circuits. In this system, 'rule generalization' and 'local optimization' are proposed for effective pattern matching. Rule generalization is used to reduce the circuit-search for pattern matching, and local optimization, to exclude unnecessary circuit-search. In additionk, in order to reduce unnecessary trial of pattern matching, the matching order of circuit patern is included in the rule descriptions. The effectiveness of this system is shown by its application ot the circuits which are generated by a hardware compiler.

  • This study materialized an FPGA-based system to extract PCB patterns. The Printed Circuit Boards that are produced these days are becoming more detailed and complex. Therefore, the importance of a vision system to extract defects of detailed patterns is increasing. This study produced an FPGA-based system that has high speed handling for vision automation of the PCB production process. A vision library that is used to extract defect patterns was also materialized in IPs to optimize the system. The IPs materialized are Camera Link IP, pattern matching IP, VGA IP, edge extraction IP, and memory IP.

  • This paper proposes an high speed pattern matching algorithm and its implementation. The pattern matcher is used to check patterns from realtime input packet. The proposed algorithm can find exact string, range of string values, and combination of string values from input packet at high speed. Given string and rule set are modelled as a state transition graph which can find overlapped strings simultaneously, and the state transition graph is partitioned according to input implicants to reduce implementation complexity. The pattern matcher scheme uses the transformed state transition graph and input packet as an input. The pattern matcher was modelled and implemented in VHDL language. Experimental results show the proprieties of the proposed approach.

  • Due to advances in DNA sequencing technologies, its medical value continues to grow. However, once genome data leaked, it cannot be revoked, and disclosure of personal genome information impacts a large group of individuals. Therefore, secure techniques for managing genomic big data should be developed. We first propose a privacy-preserving inner product protocol for large data sets using the homomorphic encryption of Gentry et al., and then we introduce an efficient privacy-preserving DNA matching protocol based on the proposed protocol. Our efficient protocol satisfies the requirements of correctness, confidentiality, and privacy.

  • In recent network intrusion detection systems, regular expressions are used to represent malicious packets. In order to process incoming packets through high speed networks in real time, we should perform hardware-based pattern matching using the configurable device such as FPGAs. However, operating speed of FPGAs is slower than giga-bit speed network and so, multi-byte processing per clock cycle may be needed. In this paper, we propose a hardware architecture of multi-byte based regular expression pattern matching and implement the pattern matching circuit generator. The throughput improvements in four-byte based pattern matching circuit synthesized in FPGA for several Snort rules are $2.62{\sim}3.4$ times.
