대전 지상국의 가시성을 고려한 달천이(TLI) 및 달포획(LOI) 기동의 달탐사 최적 궤적 설계

  • 이 연구에서는 달천이(TLI: Trans Lunar Injection) 및 달포획(LOI: Lunar Orbit Injection) 기동 시 대전 지상국의 가시성을 고려한 최적의 임무를 설계하였다. TLI 기동은 탐사선이 지구 주차궤도에서 지구-달 천이궤적으로 진입하기 위하여 주어지는 기동이며, LOI 기동은 탐사선이 지구-달 천이궤적에서 달의 중력권으로 진입하기 위하여 주어지는 기동이다. TLI 및 LOI 기동 시 대전 지상국에서의 가시성의 확보는 실제적인 미래 한국의 달 탐사를 대비하였을 때 중요한 요소이다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 TLI 및 LOI 기동 시 대전 지상국에서의 가시성을 모두 고려하여, 최소연료로 지구 주차궤도에서 달 임무궤도 진입까지의 모든 단계에 대해 임무설계를 실시하였다. TLI 및 LOI 기동 시 추력은 순간 추력(Impulsive thrust)로 가정하였으며, KSLV-II 발사체의 성능을 적용하여 설계하였다. 임무 설계 시 태양, 지구, 달의 섭동력을 고려한 N체 운동 방정식을 탐사선에 적용하였으며, 지구의 비대칭 중력장, 태양 복사압, 달의 J2 섭동에 의한 영향도 고려하였다. JPL의 정밀 천체력인 DE405를 사용하였고, 상용 소프트웨어인 SNOPT(Spares Nonlinear OPTimizer)를 이용하여 비행 궤적의 최적해를 도출하였다. 임무 설계 결과를 통해, 대전 지상국의 가시성을 고려한 TLI 및 LOI 기동의 크기에 의한 임무설계의 분석을 수행하였다. 또한 최적화된 달 탐사 임무의 단계별 기동의 크기와 지구-달 천이 궤적의 형상 및 다양한 임무 요소들의 해석을 도출하였다.

Weak Stability Boundary를 이용한 지구-달 천이궤적 연구

  • 한국형 발사체 KSLV-2의 발사능력을 고려하면 달 탐사선의 총 무게는 약 550kg이 된다. 따라서 달 탐사선에 탑재할 수 있는 탑재체 무게를 최대화하기 위해서는 지구에서 달로 가는 천이궤적을 가장 효율적으로 설계하여 연료 소모량을 최소화하여야 한다. 본 연구에서는 최근에 달 탐사 천이궤적으로 가장 많이 사용되고 있는 Weak Stability Boundary 천이궤적에 관해 연구를 수행하였다. Weak Stability Boundary 천이궤적은 지구로부터 출발한 후 원지점 약 1.4 km(지구-태양의 L1 점 근처)까지 비행한 후 태양풍을 통해 에너지를 얻어 근지점 거리를 지구-달 거리만큼 증가시켜 LOI(Lunar Orbit Injection)시 ${\Delta}V$를 최소화하여 달 궤도에 들어가는 방법이다. Weak Stability Boundary 천이방법의 TLI(Trans Lunar Injection) 값은 직접천이 방법의 TLI 값보다 더 크지만 달 궤도 진입에 필요한 LOI ${\Delta}V$값은 25% 정도 덜 든다는 장점이 있다. 이 방법은 일본의 Hiten 탐사선이 최초로 사용하였으며, 달에 도착하기까지 수개월이 걸리는 단점이 있다. Weak Stability Boundary 천이궤적 시뮬레이션을 통해 최대로 절약할 수 있는 연료 소모량을 확인할 수 있었으며, 다른 천이방법들과의 장단점 비교를 통해 한국형 달 탐사선의 지구-달 천이궤적 후보로 사용 될 수 있음을 확인하였다.

A Study on Optimal Earth-Moon Transfer Orbit Design Using Mixed Impulsive and Continuous Thrust (순간 및 연속 추력을 이용한 지구-달 최적 전이궤도 설계에 관한 연구)

  • Based on the planar restricted three body problem formulation, optimized trajectories for the Earth-Moon transfer are obtained. Mixed impulsive and continuous thrust are assumed to be used, respectively, during the Earth departure and Earth-Moon transfer/Moon capture phases. The continuous, dynamic trajectory optimization problem is reformulated in the form of discrete optimization problem by using the method of direct transcription and collocation, and then is solved using the nonlinear programming software. Representative results show that the shape of optimized trajectory near the Earth departure and the Moon capture phases is dependent upon the relative weight between the impulsive and the continuous thrust.

Development and Application of Instructional Module for the Conceptual Change of the Earth and Moon's Movement in the Elementary Science Class (초등 과학수업에서 지구와 달의 운동 개념변화를 위한 수업모듈의 개발 및 적용)

  • The purpose of this study is to categorize preconceived notions by elementary science gifted students about the reason why only one side of the moon is visible and develop an instructional module to correct these notions scientifically. The effectiveness of these modules will then be tested. The participants of this study were 15 (5th and 6th grade students) from Gwangju Metropolitan City and Chonnam Province who passed a gifted student assessment test developed by J university. The student's notions about the reason only one side of the moon is visible were assessed through questionnaires, interviews, and reenactments. Instructional modules to minimize these notions were developed and then improved upon by class reenactments. And then these modules were used to teach a real class with cameras recording the students. Protocols were analyzed using this footage, and emphasis was placed on how the developed class module changed student's misconceptions. The instructional module developed in this study was: student conception assessment writing materials exploration activity stage 1 (moon's orbit) exploration activity stage 2 (moon's rotation) - exploration activity stage 3 (moon's orbit and rotation) - exploration activity stage 4 (verbalizing the moon's orbit and rotation) - exploration activity stage 5 (thinking about moon movement considering earth's rotation - exploration activity stage 6 (relating the earth and moon's movement) and verifying student conception change. An important conclusion of this study was that all 15 students had misconceptions that could be divided into categories A, B, and C. Category A could be separated with more specifics into A-1 and A-2, and C into C-1 and C-2. After the instructional module was utilized, the student categories show positive change in the following stages: Category A at exploration activity stage 1 and 2, Category B at exploration activity stage 3, Category C-1 at exploration activity stage 4 and 5, and Category C-2 at exploration activity stage 6. Category C-1 students immediately changed to Category C-2 after going through a few stages, and their misconceptions were finally corrected after going through exploration activity stage 6. The misconceptions of students in all categories were corrected scientifically after completing stage 6 education. This study proposes that a combined education of reenactments, exploration materials development, and exploration activities by stages will effectively correct misconceptions about the Earth and moon's movement.

Middle School and Science-gifted Students' Conceptions about Motion of Objects on the Surface of the Earth and the Moon (지구와 달 표면에서 물체의 운동에 대한 일반 중학생들과 과학영재학생들의 개념)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate middle school and science-gifted students' conceptions about motion of objects on the surface of the earth and the moon. The subjects were 61 first-, 51 second-, 51 third-year students, for a total of 163 in a middle school and 32 science-gifted students from a university-affiliated sciencegifted education center for secondary school students. The research contents were conceptions about motion of objects by the vertical direction, an inclined plane and horizontal plane on the surface of the earth and the moon. The questions were as follows: If two balls, same size but different mass, were put on, thrown over, by the vertical direction, an inclined plane and a horizontal plane on the surface of the earth and the moon at the same time and speed, which one would arrive faster than the other?; In the same mass in the earth and the moon, how fast could the object reach to which location, the earth or the moon? The results showed that science-gifted students offer meaningful difference on the concept of objects in motion at the vertical direction, an inclined plane and a horizontal plane on the earth and at the vertical direction on the moon than general middle school students. There were meaningful difference on the vertical up direction, an inclined plane and a horizontal plane in the same situation in the earth and the moon. Finally, based on the results of our study, we discuss possible educational implications for teaching the concept of objects in motion.

Analysis of Delta-V of Earth-Moon Transfer Trajectories for Minimization of Fuel Consumption (연료 최소화를 위한 지구-달 천이궤적의 Delta-V 분석)

  • After lunar explorations were restarted in 1990s, the world space advanced countries have been competing actively to preoccupy the Moon from the 2000s. Korea has been also conducting precedent study on lunar exploration to carry out that by ourselves in 2020. This study analyzed delta-V of various Earth-Moon transfer trajectories for minimization of fuel consumption. Through the simulation, the best Earth-Moon transfer trajectory for Korean lunar mission is suggested and it will be used as useful materials of Korean lunar mission.

The Effect of Observing Material on the Phase Change of Moon Considering the Orbits of Earth and Moon (지구와 달의 공전궤도를 고려한 달의 위상 변화 관찰 교구의 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of observing material on the phase change of moon considering the orbits of earth and moon for elementary school students. For this study, the material which shows the orbit of moon tilted at $5^{\circ}$ with the orbit of earth is developed. 110 6th grade students in an elementary school are sampled. They are divided into the experimental group and the control group. The lessons using the material developed in this study are implemented to the experimental group, and the lessons using the material proposed in ordinary textbook are implemented to the control group. The pre, post, delayed concept tests on the phase change of moon are administered to the students of the experimental group and the control group, and semi-structured interviews are conducted for each concept level. According to students' responses, the concept levels are divided into 'Phase recognition', 'Space viewpoint', 'Earth viewpoint', and 'No recognition'. The experimental group and the control group are homogeneous in the pre-test. The result of this study shows that the experimental group gains significantly more scores than the control group in the post and delayed tests. Also, in the post and delayed tests, more students of the experimental group are in the highest level 'Phase recognition' than the control group. Finally, students of the experimental group who were in the 'Phase recognition' and 'Space viewpoint' explain more scientifically than the students of the control group. Therefore the results of this study show that the observing material on the phase change of moon considering the orbits of earth and moon is effective.

The Earth-Moon Transfer Trajectory Design and Analysis using Intermediate Loop Orbits (중개궤도를 이용한 지구-달 천이궤적의 설계 및 분석)

  • Various Earth-Moon transfer trajectories are designed and analyzed to prepare the future Korea's Lunar missions. Minimum fuel trajectory solutions are obtained for the departure year of 2017, 2020, 2022, and every required mission phases are analyzed from Earth departure to the final lunar mission orbit. N-body equations of motion are formulated which include the gravitational effect of the Sun, Earth and Moon. In addition, accelerations due to geopotential harmonics, Lunar J2 and solar radiation pressures are considered. Impulsive high thrust is assumed as the main thrusting method of spacecraft with launcher capability of KSLV-2 which is planned to be developed. For the method of injecting a spacecraft into a trans Lunar trajectory, both direct shooting from circular parking orbit and shooting from the multiple elliptical intermediate orbits are adapted, and their design results are compared and analyzed. In addition, spacecraft's visibility from Deajeon ground station are constrained to see how they affect the magnitude of TLI(Trans Lunar Injection) maneuver. The results presented in this paper includes launch opportunities, required optimal maneuver characteristics for each mission phase as well as the trajectory characteristics and numerous related parameters. It is confirmed that the final mass of Korean lunar explorer strongly depends onto the initial parking orbit's altitude and launcher's capability, rather than mission start time.

3차원 BRDF 모델을 이용한 달의 조도 및 전 지구 알베도 변화 추이 수치모사

  • Hapke의 양방향 분포 함수를 균일하게 입힌 실 크기 3차원 달표면 BRDF 모델을 이용한 달의 조도 수치모사 와 Big Bear Solar Observatory(BBSO)의 달빛 조도 관측 결과를 비교하였다. 1999년 9월 5일 UT9:30에서 UT12:30까지 지구상의 $34^{\circ}$ 15'30.04"N $116^{\circ}$ 55'16.49"W 위치에서 계산된 달의 조도가 관측된 조도와 1% 이내의 차이를 보이는 것을 확인하였다. 이후 검증된 달의 BRDF 모델과 램버시안 산란 지구 모델을 이용해 시간별 전 지구 알베도 추이를 광선 추적 수치 모사한 결과와 실제 BBSO에서의 측정결과 간 1% 이내의 차이를 보이는 것을 확인하여, .BRDF 모델과 광선추적 수치모사 기법의 타당성을 검증하였다.
