  • This study, for the first time, examined predictive validity of stress mindset-the beliefs about the effects of stress-on perceived stress and self-control in college students. To do so, 159 college students completed self-reported questionnaires on stress mindset, perceived stress, and self-control. The results indicated that compared to students who believed stress can be utilized, those who believed stress is strictly harmful tended to experience higher level of stress, which, in turn, predicted lower self-control. These findings suggest that changing college students ' stress mindset may be a good way to help them to thrive mentally and behaviorally.

Methods : Subjects were 96 patients with pain who visited pain clinic. All patients were administered the Multidimensional Health Locus of Control Scales, the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory, the Coping Strategies Questionnaire, and rating for perceived pain intensity, distress, and duration. Results : Correlational analysis revealed that patients who viewed outcomes as controlled by internality tended to have better ability to control and decrease pain. Also they tended to be less depressed and anxious. Regression analysis indicated that patients having a internal locus of control were more likely to use coping self-statement and reinterpreting pain sensation. Powerful others and chance locus of control orientation were predicted reliance on catastrophizing. Conclusion : The clinical implication of the present study is that cognitive factors of patients with pain such as locus of control influence emotional distress and coping. this study show that these factors should be applied to cognitive behavioral therapeutic intervention.

  • Mindfulness is being used as one of the techniques for emotional regulation. In emotional regulation, mindfulness is considered as an uncontrolled way in that it observes the present experience as it is, rather than attempting to reduce or eliminate negative affective experiences. However, in this study, the purpose of this study is to confirm that mindfulness can affect emotional regulation through perceived control. To confirm this, I verified whether perceived control had a mediating effect on the relationship between mindfulness and difficulty in emotional regulation. For this 366 university students (179 males, 187 females) were surveyed using the scales of mindfulness, perceived control, and difficulty in emotional regulation, and mediation was analysed using Hayes' PROCESS macro. As a result of the analysis, it was found that perceived control had a fully mediating effect in the relationship between mindfulness and emotional regulation difficulties. These results suggest that mindfulness affect emotional regulation through perceived control.

  • The author tried to verify the mediating effect of the variable, perceived behavioral control, in the relationship between the independent variables(cosmetics-related variables, consumer's preference, advice & inducement), and the dependent variable(purchasing behavior), through AMOS structural equation modeling. As a result of analyzing the mediating effect in the impact relationship between latent variables, it was found that PBC(perceived behavior control) plays a mediating role in the impact relationship between CQ(cosmetics quality) and PB(purchasing behavior). Author found that the higher the quality of cosmetics and the greater the perceived behavior control in domestic cosmetics purchasing behavior, the more likely it will lead to purchasing behavior. In this context, while efforts are being made to improve cosmetic quality, measures to increase perceived behavior control, which can be said to be autonomy in purchasing behavior, should be sought.

  • This study has investigated how social exclusion affects privacy concerns and intention to provide personal information. And to examine the moderating effect of perceived sense of control in the process. As a result, it was found that social exclusion increases users' privacy concerns and reduces the intention to provide personal information. In addition, it was verified that the moderating effect of social exclusion on the privacy concerns and intention to provide personal information was significant. In other words, it was proved that sense of control can reduce the influence on privacy concerns and personal information provision intentions due to social exclusion. The results of this research suggest that social exclusion can act as a factor influencing privacy concerns and intention to provide personal information, and that perceived control can reduce the effect of social exclusion. In conclusion, the results of this study suggest that individual psychological factors should be considered as influencing variables in privacy research.

  • People tend to perceive their loved others (e.g., children, spouse, romantic partner) as their extended selves and then control over the loved others' fashion style corresponding to their self-concept. The study conceptually suggested that people's perceptions on legitimacy to interfere the others and their own fashionability would separately or interactively influence their control over the loved others' fashion style. To investigate the suggestions, an experiment with female participants in their 20's was conducted by using a scenario. The results indicated that participants' perception of legitimacy to interfere their boyfriends or their own fashionability did not have a separate effect on control over their boyfriends' fashion style. However, the legitimacy and the fashionability did have an interactive effect on the control. In particular, for high legitimacy groups, there was no difference in the control between low and high fashionability groups. For low legitimacy groups, the control was stronger in high fashionability group than in low fashionability group.

  • The purpose of the present study is to examine effects of anger expression and perceived emotional competence on school anger in adolescents. The participants were 304 high school students (134 males, 170 females). They were administered the anger-related subscales (anger-out, anger-in, and anger control) of the Korean Version of the State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory (STAXI-K), the Korean Version of Trait Meta-Mood Scale (K-TMMS), and the Korean Version of School Anger Inventory(SAI-K). The results showed that school anger positively correlated with anger-out and anger-in, and negatively correlated with anger control and perceived emotional competence. Neither interaction effects of anger-out and perceived emotional competence nor interaction effects of anger-in and perceived emotional competence on school anger were significant. On the contrary, interaction effects of anger control and perceived emotional competence on school anger were significant. The results of post-hoc analysis revealed that the effect of anger control on school anger was significant in the case of high perceived emotional competence but not significant in the case of low perceived emotional competence. Based on these results, it was suggested that psychological programs designed to reduce school anger in adolescents need effective measures to enhance not only anger control skills but also perceived emotional competence.

  • As the post-COVID-19 consumer life environment is rapidly becoming non-face-to-face, changing non-face-to-face financial life services are having a significant impact on consumers' daily lives. People who do not have access to digital devices and services that have become essential goods are at risk of being left behind in the "digital blind spot," where they are marginalized not only in their daily lives but also in society and the economy as a whole (Kim Min-Jeung A, Kim Min-Jung B, Park Joo-Yung, 2022). In this study, we examined the effects of perceived control factors, Cognitive control, behavioral control, and decisional control, on intention to use digital finance. For this study, we surveyed 133 customers who are aware of and intend to use digital finance. The results show that cognitive control, behavioral control, and decisional control have significant effects on intention to use digital finance. In this relationship, the moderating effect of privacy concerns differs from the effect of decision control on intention to use digital finance. These findings suggest that digital financial services firms should consider whether to reduce or increase customer control. Based on these findings, we discuss marketing strategies and implications for digital financial services companies.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the perception of elder abuse, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control and to examine what factors influence attitudes toward elder abuse. The subjects were 404 nursing students at D and S universities in G province. The data were collected from November 20th, 2017 to January 26th, 2017. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise regression using the SPSS / WIN 22.0. The results show that perception of elder abuse had a score of 3.60, subjective norms had a score of 2.69, and perceived behavior control and attitude had scores of 2.62 and 2.97. Perception of elder abuse, subjective norms, and behavioral control and attitudes showed significant positive correlations and showed significant differences according to elderly nursing education. Factors influencing attitudes toward elder abuse were perception of elder abuse, subjective norms, and perceptions of behavioral control and grade. The results of this study indicate that it is important to increase awareness, subjective norms, and behavioral control for the intervention of elder abuse. We suggest that nursing education of the elderly is important for the intervention of elder abuse.
