Gender Differences in Perception of Utilitarian and Hedonic Gift Attributes among American Consumers

  • 본 연구는 두 가지 선물상황(생일, 크리스마스)과 선물수용자(가족, 친구)에서 성별에 따라 선물 속성지각에 차이가 있는지를 밝히고자 하였다. 질문지를 이용하여 미국 남녀 비자 97명을 대상으로 자료수집 하였으며, 자료분석을 위해 MANOVA(Multivariate Analysis of Variable)를 실행하였다. 분석결과, 가족과 친구를 위한 생일선물상황에서 성에 따라 쾌락적 속성(독특한, 유행하는, 재미있는)의 중요성 지각에 차이를 보여 여성이 남성보다 선물의 쾌락적 속성을 더 중요하게 지각하였다. 또한 가족과 친구를 위한 크리스마스 선물상황에서도 성별에 따라 쾌락적 속성에 차이를 보여 여성이 남성보다 가족을 위한 선물로써 독특한, 유행하는 속성을 더 중요하게 지각하고, 친구를 위한 선물은 독특한, 재미있는 속성이 더 중요하게 지각되었다. 그러나 실용적 속성(내구성있는, 실용적인, 비싸지 않은)에서는 두 가지 상황의 가족과 친구를 위한 선물지각에 대해 성별에 따라 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 따라서 본 연구결과. 소비자들은 선물구매상황에서 일반제품과 달리 쾌락적 가치를 더욱 중요하게 인식하고 있으며, 성별에 따라 선물 상황과 수용자에 대한 선물의 쾌락적 속성지각에 차이를 나타냄으로써 성별에 따른 차별화된 선물상품개발 및 이미지 포지셔닝 전략을 통해 효과적 마케팅 관리가 이루어져야 할 것이다.

The Effects of Individualism/Collectivism Disposition on Adopting the Information according to the Types of Information (정보형태에 따른 정보수용에 대한 개인주의/집단주의 성향의 효과)

  • 본 연구는 개인주의-집단주의 문화 개념을 도입하여, 타인의 의견이나 집단규범이 내포된 합의정보와 제품의 속성이 나타난 속성정보가 불일치한 상황에 접했을 때 개인의 문화지향성에 따라 정보의 수용과정에 차이가 있는지를 탐구하였다. 본 연구는 접근성-진단성 프레임웍에 근거하여 정보의 수용과정 모델을 개발하고 이를 중국 및 한국의 개별소비자차원에서 검증하였다. 본 연구의 실증분석 결과, 소비자의 개인주의-집단주의 성향에 따라 불일치 정보의 수용과정이 다르게 나타났다. 집단주의 성향의 소비자들은 합의정보의 합의성 지각수준을 높게 지각할수록 합의정보의 집단자아 접근성과 집단동조 진단성 수준이 증가하여 집단의견수용의도가 높아지는 것으로 밝혀졌으며, 속성정보의 속성성 지각수준을 높게 지각할수록 속성정보의 개인자아 접근성과 개인화가치 진단성이 증가하여 개인의견반영의도가 높아지는 것으로 나타났다. 한편, 개인주의성향의 소비자들은 속성정보의 속성성 수준을 높게 지각할수록 개인화가치 진단성 수준이 높아져 개인의견반영의도가 높아지며, 합의정보의 합의성 수준을 높게 지각할수록 집단자아 접근성 수준이 높아져 집단의견수용의도가 높아지는 것으로 나타났다.

  • This study is to observe the correlation between user properties and user behavior on the mobile game, one of the most prominent digital contents with the most mutual interaction. Among various factors affecting on behaviors of game users, the user properties itself was accentuated, and the effect of individual and psychological quality on the use of game was evaluated. The user properties were mainly categorized into five factors of "interpersonal relationship", "level of game skill", "inclination of innovation", "self-esteem", and "competitive spirit", and the use behavior of game was categorized mainly into two types - quantitative behavior of "amount of use (time of use, consumption cost)" and qualitative behavior of "perceived satisfaction level (perceived enjoyment, perceived service quality, and perceived price)". As a result of study, in general, as the user quality subjected in this study is stronger, the amount of use and satisfaction level are higher. This study is to observe what type of user qualities leads to the more use, consumption, and satisfaction level of game contents to contribute to the study about the use of conventional digital contents and heavy use.

The Relationship between Online Shopping Attributes and Purchase Intention among American Consumers (미국 소비자들이 지각만 온라인 쇼핑속성과 구매의도와의 관계)

  • 본 연구는 미국 소비자들이 지각한 온라인 쇼핑속성에 대한 차원을 밝히고. 온라인 속성에 대한 중요성과 상품범주별 구매의도와의 관계를 밝혀 상품범주별 마케팅 전략과 인터넷 소비자 관리 및 교육 프로그램 개발에 기여하고자 하였다. 조사대상자는 가정에서 인터넷을 사용하고 있는 미국 소비자 303 명으로 구성되었으며, 질문지법에 의해 자료 수집되었다. 자료분석을 위해 탐색적 요인분석을 실행하였고, LISREL8에 의해 측정모델과 구조적 관계 모델을 동시에 검증하였다. 자료 분석결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 소비자가 지각한 온라인 쇼핑에 대한 속성은 거래 및 비용, 사이트 디자인, 구매유인 프로그램, 상호 관계성의 4개 차원으로 분류되었다. 둘째, 온라인 상품은 구매의도에 따라 인지적 상품, 경험적 상품, 서비스 3개 범주로 분류되었다. 셋째, 지각된 온라인 쇼핑속성의 중요도와 각상품군 구매의도와의 구조적 관계모델을 추정한 결과,“거래 및 비용”은 3개의 상품군에 대한 구매의도에 모두 유의한 영향을 주었으며,“구매유인 프로그램”은 경험적 상품과 서비스에 대한 구매의도에 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 따라서, 소비자들에게 중요하게 지각되는 인터넷 특정 속성 즉, 보완, 배달 및 비용을 초점으로한 상품범주별 차별화된 이점을 제시하여 효과적인 마케팅 전략을 수립해야 할 것이다. 또한, 전자 상거래와 관련 보완, 환불정책 등에 관한 소비자 교육과 보호법이 요구되고 있다.

  • Despite the PB diffusion introduced as a strategic competitive factor from the change of a retailing business, the study of PB perceived quality in a customer aspect is poor. Therefore, this study led the influential factors to retailer attribute and product attribute through overall analysis. Also, the study found the influential attributes affecting the perceived quality and analysed the influential power linking to customer satisfaction and preference through the perceived quality. The examined results of the study have known that each attribute links to customer satisfaction via the only perceived quality. The strategic PB sales advantage should be achieved as giving customers the overall perceived quality, and has shown that it can increase the customer preference for PB.

  • The purpose of this study is threefold. Firstly, what are some attributes of brands that affect perceived authenticity of brands? Secondly, how do the product characteristics such as public goods and private goods change the impacts of attributes on the perceived authenticity of brands? Thirdly, does the perceived authenticity influence consumers' brand attitude and mediate the relationship between brand attributes and the brand attitude? With regard to the role of authenticity in performance of marketing, the authors examined the relationship between the perceived authenticity and brand attitude. The study expands understanding of the relationship between brand attributes and authenticity while at the same time answering the call for further studies on the role of the perceived authenticity in improving brand attitude. The finding also demonstrates that the influence of attributes could be different depending on product categories.

  • Residential environment is not only the physical aspects affected by the unique characteristics of the residents, social, economic, cultural, etc. are closely related to many environmental factors. This research is based on choice attribute theory that substantially explains how housing choice attributes affect loyalty via image, perceived value in Secho. This paper investigate empirically relationship between selection properties of residential environment and loyalty, moderating effect of image and perceived value. Results were computed using SPSS 20.0 statistical analysis programs. The results are summarized as follows. First, The elements of choice attribute are divided into six factor, such as regional reputation, green environment, convenience, property value, safety, housing status. In the results of the analyses, housing choice properties gives a positive influence to the loyalty. Second, testing its mediating role, I use the three regression equation models by Baron and Kenny. When the mediator effect of image, perceived value was represented, the effect of image and perceived value was statistically significant. Thus, the mediating role of image and perceived value was supported. It means the higher image and perceived value can enhance loyalty of Secho.

  • This study focused on smartphone adoption of foreign students who are studying in Korea in digital media era. Smartphone is not only new media but also social media. Based on former research, factor for smartphone adoption of foreign students will be analyzed. Based on TAM theory technological attribute, individual attribute and social attribute were taken out as independent variables. Perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness are applied as mediator variables. In conclusion, some hypotheses for example service quality and individual attribute are rejected as variables which influence positively to mediator variable perceived easy of use. For the next research more various variables and nationwide sampling will be needed.

  • The purpose of this research is to investigate effects of perceived attributes of a salesperson on the customer s satisfaction with the salesperson. cross-buying intentions, and intentions to recommend the retailer, in the context of consumer durable goods. The data for analysis was obtained from 252 consumers who experienced buying consumer durable goods in a metropolitan area. Our results show as following: first, the effects of perceived attributes of the salesperson such as expertise, trustworthiness, likability, and customer orientation, have a significant influence on customer's satisfaction with salesperson; second perceived customer-orientation of salesperson affects customer's satisfaction with the retailer; third, a customer s satisfaction with salesperson not only plays a mediating role between perceived attributes of the salesperson and the customer's satisfaction with retailer but also between perceived attributes of salesperson and cross-buying intentions and intentions to recommend the retailer; and fourth customer's satisfaction with retailers performs a mediating role between perceived attributes of the salesperson and cross-buying intentions or recommendation intentions of retailers. In addition, managerial implications are suggested for industry practitioners.

A Study on the Influence of the Selective Attributes of Home Meal Replacement on Perceived Utilitarian Value and Repurchase Intention: Focus on Consumers of Large Discount and Department Stores (HMR(Home Meal Replacement) 선택속성이 지각된 효용적 가치, 재구매 의도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구: 대형 할인마트와 백화점 구매고객을 대상으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze products for good taste and convenience, which become an engine to constantly create customers. In addition, this study is aimed at investigating the relationship between the selective attributes of Home Meal Replacement, the perceived utilitarian value, and the repurchase intention, and drawing new suggestions on the Home Meal Replacement market from a new marketing perspective. Based on a total of 215 samples, this study reviewed the reliability and fitness of the research model and verified a total of 5 hypothesized using the Amos program. The result of study modeling was GFI=0.905, AGFI=0.849, NFI=0.889, CFI=0.945, and RMR=0.0.092 at the level of $x^2$=230.22 (df=126, p<0.001). First, the food quality (${\beta}$=0.221), convenience (${\beta}$=0.334), packing (${\beta}$=0.278), and employee service (${\beta}$=0.204) of home meal replacement consideration attributes had a positive (+) influence on perceived utilitarian value. Second, perceived utilitarian value (${\beta}$=0.584) had a positive (+) influence on repurchase intention. The factors to differentiate one company from other competitors in terms of the utilitarian value are the quality of food, convenience, wrapping, and services by employees. This study has illustrated the need to focus on the development of a premium menu to compete with other companies and to continue to research and develop nutritious foods that are easy to cook. Moreover, the key factors to have a distinct and constant competitive edge over other companies are the alleviation of consumer anxiety over wrapping container materials, the development of more designs, and the accumulation of service know-how. Therefore, it is necessary for a company to strongly develop the key factors based on its resources as a core capability.
