Input Error Amplification for the Ease of Mismatching Problem in the Analog PRML Decoder Implementation (아날로그 PRML 디코딩 회로 구현 시의 미스 매칭 문제 완화를 위한 입력 심볼 에러 값 증폭)

  • An idea to improve the performance of error correction with the amplification of input symbol errors is proposed to ease the mismatching problem which occurs in the hardware implementation of the differential analog PRML decoder. The differential analog PRML decoder is the decoder with two blocks of trellis diagram one of which is without branches of "0" and the other one is without the branches of "1". Decoding is performed by comparing the outputs of two blocks. The decoding error is likely to occur when the difference of two outputs is very small and the hardware implementation is not precise due to mismatching. The proposed idea is to increase the discrimination margin for the output "0" and "1" by amplifying the symbol error while the larger path metrics are saturated. To show the performance improvement of decoding with the proposed idea, simulation results are included

  • This paper introduces a thermal compensation circuit with improved compensation characteristic for amplifiers to provide stable output power regardless environmental temperature. The proposed thermal compensation circuit is composed of two branchline couplers having two diodes between them. And, the thermistor whose resistance varies significantly with temperature inversely and a operational amplifiers, so called as OP-amp, control the diodes in the compensations circuit to realize more effective thermal compendation characteristic compared with conventional circuit.

  • 현재 산업용으로 많이 쓰이고 있는 연축전지나 Alkali 전지의 충전용 충전기가 반도체화 이후 Thyristor식 자동충전기로 전환되고 있는데 발맞추어 본 연구에서는 현재의 충전기로서의 장점을 충분히 가지고 있으면서 부하단자가 단락되거나 개방되거나 또는 전원이 잘못 접속될 경우에도 충전기 부하나 회로를 충분히 보호할 수 있는 충전기를 설계하고져 했다. 본 연구의 연구대상은 Battery의 잔류전압을 이용한 UJT 이장발진기로 구동되는 SCR식 충전기 회로이다. 아울러 Soft start 회로와 동기회로 그리고 Pulse 증폭회로를 첨가시켜 보다 충전특성을 향상시켰으며 엄밀한 특성시험, 즉 지연회로 시험, 출력단자 개방시험, 단락시험, 출력단자 오결선시험등을 통해 여러가지 장해가 없음을 확인했다. 그리고 가급적 휴대가 가능하도록 소형화 시키면서 누구나 손쉽게 조작할 수 있는 간편하고 실용적인 충전기를 설계하는데 힘썼다. 그래서 다음과 같은 장점을 본래의 장점에다 부가시킬 수 있었다. (가) Soft start 회로를 첨가시켜 평균 30-50sec의 지연시간을 얻을 수 있었다. (나) 동기회로를 별도로 첨가시켜 Pulse 신호의 동기를 확실하게 할 수 있었다. (다) Pulse 증폭회로를 사용하여 SCR의 제어능력을 확실하게 할 수 있었다. 결론적으로 본 충전기는 Trickle 충전을 제외한 초충전 균등충전 부동충전 보정충전 급속충전등을 자유로이 할 수 있었고 소형 경량이고 취급이 간편하여 실용적이라고 본다. 그러나 여러가지 조건하에서의 현장실험을 다해보지 못한 것이 약간 아쉽다.

Study of frequency chirping of pulse amplified laser beam by using heterodyne method (헤테로다인 방법을 이용한 펄스 증폭된 레이저빔의 주파수 Chirping연구)

  • Amplified pulsed laser beam with narrow linewidth was generated from CW laser beam with narrow linewidth by using frequency doubled Nd:YAG laser beam and Bethune cell. The degree of the frequency chirping of the amplified pulse laser was measured by using the heterodyne method and obtained by calculating instantaneous phase change from heterodyne beating signals. The frequency chirping of amplified pulsed laser beam from CW laser beam with sub-MHz linewidth by 10 ns pulse was 80 MHz so that pulsed laser beam with very narrow linewidth was obtained.

  • A feedback loop with bandpass filter is introduced in erbium-doped fiber amplifier to clamp the amplifier gain by lasing the amplifier at a selected wavelength. The gain and the ASE (amplified spontaneous emission) output spectra are found to be independent of input signal power and pump power variation so long as the amplifier is lasing. Also they are found to be dependent only on the overall loss of the feedback loop. Even in the case of slowly modulated large signal input, signal distortion due to gain saturation is not observed.served.

A Numerical Analysis of the Amplification Properties of the Regenerative Amplifier (재생증폭기의 증폭특성에 관한 수치해석)

  • The simulation code was developed to analyze the amplification properties of the regenerative amplifier, such as gain narrowing, nonlinear effect, and energy saturation. To reduce gain narrowing in the regenerative amplifier, the input pulse with a symmetrical shape and the same center wavelength of the active medium should be amplified in the active medium with a broad fluorescence linewidth. In this respect, Ti:Sapphire with a low nonlinear refractive index, a high saturation fluence, and a broad fluorescence linewidth is the most appropriate medium for the regenerative amplifier. The knowledge and the important parameters were acquired for the optimum design of the regenerative amplifier.

  • We have analyzed the amplification of a signal wave in the optical parametric interactions of the pump, signal, and idler waves in planar waveguides, with the pump wave being Cerenkov radiation. Based on the coupled-mode theory, we have derived the first-order coupled-mode differential equations for no pump depletion. The equations can easily be solved numerically. The approximate analytical and numerical solutions of the equations show that the signal wave can be amplified parametrically.

Stability of average soliton propagation in a nonlinear amplifying loop mirror (비선형 증폭 루프에서의 평균 솔리톤의 안정성)

  • A numerical analysis based on the nonlinear Schroedinger equation is presented to analyze the propagation stability of the average soliton in a simple nonlinear amplifying loop mirror. The ratio of amplification period to soliton period and the length fraction of the erbium-doped fiber in the loop are varied to investigate their effects on the soliton stability. It is observed that stable soliton propagation is obtained even when the amplification period is only slightly shorter than the soliton period when the length fraction of the erbium-doped fiber in the loop is small, which is different from the previously published condition for stable average soliton propagation.

  • In this paper, a novel rail-to-rail input stage circuit with improved transconductance Is designed. Its excellent performances over whole common-mode input voltage Vcm range is demonstrated by circuit simulator HSPICE. The novel input stage circuit comprises additional 4 input transistors and 4 current sources/sinks. It maintains DC currents of signal amplifying transistors when one of the differential input stage circuits operates, but it reduces these currents to 1/4 when both differential input stage circuits operates, As a result, a operational amplifier with the novel circuit maintains nearly constant transconductance performance and unity-gain frequency in strong inversion region. The novel circuit allows an optimal frequency compensation and uniform operational amplifier performance over whole Vcm range.
