Landscape Changes Assessment of the National Road-Focused on the National Road in Suburb Areas- (국도의 경관변화 평가-교외지역 국도를 중심으로-)

  • In this study, landscape changes were examined by periods through the analysis of visual quantity on the landscape components of national road including the mountains, the sky, road pavements, street trees, paddy fields and dry fields, billboard, telegraph pole, building, structure, slope, guard fence, soundproof wall, and median strip etc. For this, subject national road in suburb arreas was selected to grasp its landscape characteristics, and divisional criteria of landscape type of the national road were suggested to look into the trend of landscape changes by periods. Findings of this study are as follows:1.Divisional criteria of landscape type of the national road include location and geometry, structure, land use, perspective, and surrounding buildings of the national road. 2.The highest visual quantity was found in road pavements by periods among landscape components of the national road. It was found that this result has a thread of connection with previous study emphasizing the importance of road geometry as one of landscape components, and road geometry shall be regarded as a visually significant component in analyzing and evaluating landscape of the national road. 3.Most distinguished factors of landscape changes of the national road by periods were median strip(F=33.296) and street tree(F=32.881), and then the sky(F=24.735) and mountain(F=23.477) showed similar level of statistically significant difference. However, statistically significance difference was not found in buildings and structures. 4.It was shown that natural elements decreased gradually but structural landscape made of artificial elements became the main in construction of the national road. This result implies that although the scenic and ecological soundness is recognized in construction of the national road, it is not out of the limitation of functionalities that is, access and mobility.

  • Recently, flowerbed median strips are being installed in urban highways for safety and scenery. In addition, efforts to enhance urban image through roadside flowerbeds and trees are being exerted for afforestation to enhance the urban environment. The sensibility of humans, such as the feeling of agreeableness of drivers must be considered when planning roads. However, not many researches on users on road environment are being conducted. Accordingly, KANSEI Engineering that is attracting attention nowadays was applied to form the image or sensibility of humans as definite object, in order to grasp the relation between the personal attributes of users and road formation with sensible factors considered when the road users evaluates the road scenery. As the result of research, streetscape was not evaluated based on individual factors such as roads, trees and buildings that form roads, but was based on sensibility image based on harmony of the overall road formation according to the changes of each factors.

Computational Flow Analysis on Applicability of Vehicle-Induced Wind to Highway to Wind Power Generation (차량 유도풍 풍력발전 활용 가능성의 전산유동해석)

  • The possibility of whether the induced wind from a vehicle traveling on highway can be used in wind power generation has been verified through computational flow analysis. The bus which is presumed to accompany relatively strong and wide range of induced wind compared to passenger vehicles because of its wide frontal area has been set as the subject of research. In order to ensure the reliability of research, the flow analysis surrounding the bus on a flat road where median strip is not installed has been compared with a preceding research while the validity of grid system and interpretation method used in this research have been assured by a qualitative method. In case of the median strip type wind power generator system, because it has been verified that a strong streamwise wind speed (5 m/s) is derived from the contraction effect of flow passage between the bus and the median strip while maintaining a relatively consistent upwind wind speed (1.4 m/s) in vertical direction in the wake area after the bus passes by although the change of wind speed is intense, it was decided as having some possibility of wind power generation. In case of the traffic sign panel type wind power generator system installed at the upper top of highway, because the wind speed of 2 m/s level has been derived for a limited time only at a section equal to the length of the bus and a faint induced wind speed less than 0.5 m/s was shown at other regions, it was decided as having almost no possibility of wind power generation.

A Study for Removing Road Shields from Mobile Mapping System of the Laser Data using RTF Filtering Techniques (RTF 필터링을 이용한 모바일매핑시스템 레이저 데이터의 도로 장애물 제거에 관한 연구)

  • It is a global trend to give attention to generating precise 3D navigation maps since eco-friendly vehicles have become a critical issue due to environmental protection and depletion of fossil fuels. To date, Mobile Mapping System (MMS) has been a efficient method to acquire the data for generating the 3D navigation maps. To achieve this goal so far in the Mobile Mapping System using the data acquisition method has been proposed to be most effective. For this study the basic RTF filter algorithm was applied to modify to fit MMS quantitative analysis derived floor 99.71%, 99.95% of the highly non-producers to maintain accuracy and high-precision 3D road could create DEM. In addition, the roads that exist within the cars, roadside tree, road cars, such as the median strips have been removed to shields it takes to get results effectively, and effective in practical applications and can be expected to improve operational efficiency is considered.

  • The purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness of road safety features by spatial scope Spot & Section-based safety Improvement project. Empirical data was collected from black-spot study of Jeonbuk and "Traffic Safety Improvement Project on National Highway 17". Evaluation model of effectiveness was developed by using Empirical Bayes (EB) method. And Relative Effectiveness was measured by Odds Ratio. The result indicates that Section-based safety improvement was $7.09{\sim}77.27%$ more effective than the spot-based. It means that section-based improvement projects should be expanded while considering the characteristics of the section in spot based improvement.

  • Increasing traffic volumes and excessively high speeds on national highways through small towns often increases the frequency of accidents. Extensive paved areas, narrow sidewalks, median barriers and little greenery have resulted in a dangerous and destructive living environment for residents. The reason for this problem is that throughways were expanded without considering the harmony between the throughways and the small towns. Construction of bypasses and reclassification of highway functions would solve the problem by reducing vehicle speeds in small towns, but this method is too costly and time consuming. Therefore, this study analyzes national highways through small towns as a case studies using positive guidance in order to improve safety and develop alternatives. As a result of the case study, the biggest problem was observed to be the excessively high vehicle speeds, This study also identified places were information should be given or posted but is currently absent. Therefore, this study concludes that notional highways through small towns need installation of speed reduction facilities and additional information provision to drivers.

Architecture of SIP-based Effective Hybrid-type Multimedia Conference (SIP 기반의 효율적인 혼성형 멀티미디어 컨퍼런스 구조)

  • SIP-based tightly coupled conference, which has a centrally located conference server for controlling and management, can be classified several models according to location of focus and mixer. These are centralized server model, endpoint server model, media server component model and distributed mixing model. However each model has its strength and weakness. In this paper, we propose and implement a SIP-based effective hybrid-type conference model which decreases amount of SIP signaling messages, lowers load of server media mixer, and can be easily expandable to large scale conference. In this model, when the number of participants exceeds a pre-defined limit, the conference server selects some participants which posses specific functions and let them share functions of notifications of conference state event package and media mixing. When each participant subscribes conference state event package to the server, it can indicates its possession of such functions by a specific header message. The server stores the indication to the conference information database, and later uses it to select participants for load sharing. The performance of our proposed model is evaluated by experiments.

A Development of Traffic Accident Model by Random Parameter : Focus on Capital Area and Busan 4-legs Signalized Intersections (확률모수를 이용한 교통사고예측모형 개발 -수도권 및 부산광역시 4지 교차로를 대상으로-)

  • This study intends to build a traffic accident predictive model considering road geometrics, traffic and enviromental characteristics and identify the relationship of 4-legs intersection accidents in Seoul and Busan metropolitan area. The RPNB(Random Parameter Negative Binomial) model shows improvement over the fixed NB(Negative Binomial) and out of 53 variables, 10 variables (main road number of lane, main road vehicle traffic volume(left), minor road vehicle traffic volume(right), main road drive restriction, minor road sight distance, minor road median strip, minor road speed limit, minor road speed restriction) showed to have significant variables affecting traffic accident occurrences in 4-legs signilized intersections. Also, among 10 significant variables, 2 variables(minor road sight distance, minor road speed restriction) found to be random parameters.

Test Level of Domestic Concrete Barrier (국내 콘크리트 방호벽의 등급 고찰)

  • According to a domestic provision, test levels of the barrier are divided into seven categories(SB1 to SB7) and the corresponding crash conditions are specified. Meanwhile, standard types of concrete barriers with different dimensions have been constructed nation wide. Some studies aimed at finding a proper test level of each type of the concrete barrier have been carried out, but the reliable and consistent results have not been fully established yet. The purpose of this study is to find out the test level corresponding to the concrete barrier of type-2 through static test. AASHTO LRFD was referred to for the loading pattern and a magnitude of the load that simulate a vehicle crash assumed. The test results show that the ultimate strength of the type-2 satisfies the load level required for SB5. However, it seems that the type-2 does not comply with SB6, showing some differences in results from previous analytical studies. In order to take advantage of the static test in establishing the test level of the domestic barrier, more detailed provisions should be specified.

  • 도로설계기준(2012)에 따르면 노면 배수시설은 측구, 집수정, 배수관, 배수구(빗물받이, 맨홀) 등으로 구성되며 중앙분리대 배수에서 구조가 방호벽일 경우 원칙적으로 집수정과 종배수관, 횡배수관을 설치하여 노면수를 배수한다. 최근 기후변화에 따른 국지성 집중호우로 교량 배수시설의 배수능력 부족으로 교량의 노후화, 노면의 체수와 수막현상을 야기한다. 교량 설계 시, 교량의 외관은 점배수에 의한 배수불량으로 막힘부에서의 식물생육, 부식, 배수구의 오염 등으로 심미성에 악영향을 미치고 있다. 따라서 국토교통부 도로 배수시설 설계 및 관리지침에서는 기존의 집수정으로 유도하여 배수하는 점배수 형태에서 우수의 지체시간을 저감하기 위해 배수구로 즉시 배수되어 배수 효율을 증가시켜주는 선배수시설을 권장하고 있다. 그러나 선배수 구조의 일반적인 내용만을 기술하고 있으므로 보다 상세한 설계기준이 필요하다. 또한 국내에서는 교면 배수를 위한 횡배수구의 배수능력에 관한 설계 개념은 미국의 빗물받이 설계 개념을 그대로 적용하고 있어서 교량 배수시설의 배수능력 증대를 위한 수치 및 수리실험에 관한 기술적인 자료가 부족한 실정이다. 따라서 도로의 흐름해석 및 선배수를 위한 측구 횡배수관의 흐름개선에 관한 구체적인 연구가 필요한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 배수로 전반의 유향 분석 및 횡유입관 유입부에서의 상세한 흐름해석과 통수능력을 분석하기 위해서는 수리실험을 통한 연구가 필요한 실정이다. 그러나 최적 횡배수관의 형상 및 간격 설정에 대한 수리실험의 물리적 및 시간적 한계를 극복하기 위해 Fluent 모형(Ansys Workbench 13.0)을 활용한 수치모의를 수행하여 모형의 적용성을 검토하였다. 다상유동 해석을 위해 VOF(Volume of Fluid)방법을 적용하였고, 수치해석 방법으로는 비정상류, 난류 모형으로는 standard ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$모형을 적용했다. 도로 형상에 따른 우수유출량을 비교 분석하기 위하여 횡경사는 2%로 고정하고 종경사를 2%로 선정하여 수치모의를 통한 배수능력을 분석하고 설계에 직접적인 적용성을 검토하였다. 횡배수관의 간격변화 및 배수공의 위치 변화 등에 따른 차집량을 분석하였으며, 개략적인 수리실험 결과와 수치모의의 차집율을 비교 및 분석하여 Fluent 모형의 적용성을 확인하였다. 또한, 횡배수관의 유입부에서의 유속 변화 및 유출부에서의 유속이 모의가 가능하므로 배수시설에서 보다 정확한 흐름 해석이 가능하여 보다 적정한 배수능력 분석이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.
