  • In today's rapidly-changing business context with technology convergence among various fields, new technology development and technology commercialization capabilities are very important to the survival and growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This study develops the research model based on the open innovation perspective and empirically tests it by using 2,000 data from SMEs in South Korea. The empirical analysis result reveals that SMEs' external technology collaboration network and external information network diversities have positive effects on their technology commercialization capability, and these effects are fully mediated by their new technology development capability. Based on these results, the study provides meaningful implications especially in terms of SMEs' managers who pursue entrepreneurship.

  • This study was conducted to survey 178 current students at Seoul National University and to conduct a survey to prepare data for servant leadership based on the spirit of SMEs. The results of the study are as follows. First, the relationship between servant leadership and interpersonal relationship of university students in SMEs human resources appears to be a static relationship. This means that the higher the servant leadership of university students preparing for SME human resources, the higher the interpersonal relationship. Second, the consensus formation of university students had a positive effect on satisfaction, and the vision presentation had a statistically significant effect on understanding. In addition, stress relief showed a statistically significant effect on openness, and morality had a statistically significant effect on communication and openness. In addition, insight has a statistically significant effect on satisfaction and understanding.

  • This study aimed to examine relationships between founders' entrepreneurial leadership, team learning behavior, team boundary spanning, and perceived performance in early-stage startups. The following results were recorded: (i) the indirect effects of entrepreneurial leadership on perceived performance via team learning behavior were statistically significant (β=.309, p<.05). (ii) relationships between team learning behavior and perceived performance were strengthened by team boundary spanning behavior (β=.259, p<.05). In this study, three practical implications are provided as follows: (i) startups need to seek team learning readiness and external learning stimulus to facilitate generative and transformative team learning; (ii) accelerators need to develop an entrepreneurial leadership program for founders; and (iii) startups need to explore external information by interacting with investors, R&D institutions, and other startups to strengthen the impact of team learning behavior on performance. Furthermore, two directions for future research are suggested as follows: (i) future researchers need to test causal relationships between entrepreneurial leadership and team learning behavior based on a newly designed time-series measurement plan; (ii) the actual effects of entrepreneurial leadership, team learning behavior and team boundary spanning on financial performance need to be tested two or three years later when the financial performance of early-stage startups usually becomes evident.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the best structural model among CEO's entrepreneurship(innovation proactiveness and risk-taking) in small and medium enterprises, group goal orientation(learning and performance goal orientation) and collective efficacy of employees. The result of verifying the best structural model is as follows. First. it indicated that innovation proactiveness of CEO's entrepreneurship positively affected group learning goal orientation and group performance goal orientation of employees while it did not affect risk-taking. Second, it indicated that group learning goal orientation and group performance goal orientation of employees positively affected collective efficacy. Third, it indicated that CEO's innovation proactiveness positively affected collective efficacy through group goal orientation of employees(learning and performance goal orientation). In this study, we targed 162 CEOs and 486 employees in small and medium enterprises located in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Jeju and applied the reponses of employees to 162 enterprises by using the average value measured in three divisions of each enterprise. We conducted a survey as a study method and conducted covariance structure analysis to verify the study model. Implications of the research are as below. First, we provided academic discussions by expanding the study category of goal orientation with an individual level into a group level. Second, we expanded the study category with individual goal orientation and collective efficacy into group goal orientation. Third, we suggested the possibility of another mechanism's effect between entrepreneurship and collective efficacy.

  • Entrepreneurship and innovation are highlighted as a way to overcome limitations and risk factors caused by today's uncertain business environment. As the uncertainty in the business environment increases, organizations are required to adapt to ever changing business dynamics. For this adaptation, entrepreneurship and innovation are crucial factors. This study proposes a model to explain a structural relationship between entrepreneurship, technological innovation, and innovation performance. The unit of analysis focus is small and medium-sized businesses. Empirical results show that there are positive causal relationships from entrepreneurship to technological innovation, and from technological innovation to innovation performance. Additionally, no direct relationship from entrepreneurship to innovation performance can be achieved through innovation activities such as technological innovation. This study points out the importance of entrepreneurship and technological innovation, and suggests that entrepreneurship along with technological innovation should be internalized as business practices leading to increased performance.

  • The economy has deteriorated worldwide due to COVID-19, and the domestic economy has also been hit hard. Accordingly, the government implemented unprecedented financial support policies related to COVID-19 to solve the financial difficulties experienced by SMEs. In addition, as the spread of COVID-19 continued, the government implemented guidelines and measures along with recommendations for non-face-to-face contact. Organizations in the public and private sectors have introduced non-face-to-face work methods. Considering this situation, this study investigated the impact of COVID-19-related financial support policies on technological innovation of SMEs. External support is important for corporate innovation, but internal capabilities are also important. Therefore, the effect of entrepreneurship on product innovation was identified. In addition, as the non-face-to-face work method was activated, the effect of smart work was identified by comparing companies that introduced smart work and companies that did not. As a result of the analysis, entrepreneurship showed a positive (+) effect regardless of the introduction of smart work. Financial support policies related to COVID-19 were found to show mixed results according to the type of support.

  • The importance of entrepreneurship has been emphasized recently from academia and government officials and studies trying to investigate entrepreneurial alertness as core competence of entrepreneurial mindset in the research field of entrepreneurship continue. In domestic academic research, research on entrepreneurial alertness has not yet been conducted in earnest, unlike the active flow of research overseas. This paper aims to investigate what factors influence entrepreneurial alertness in the Korean environment, we conducted an empirical analysis through a questionnaire survey for CEOs of small and medium enterprises in Seoul, Gyeonggi province. In this study, we selected prior knowledge of markets and technology, positive attitude, social network, number of books per month as independent variables on entrepreneurial agility based on Ardichvili's Alertness model, and as control variables respondents' Demographic characteristics, such as gender, age, founding career were selected. According to the results of the empirical analysis, prior knowledge of markets and technology, positive attitudes, number of books per month as independent variables, showed positive influence on entrepreneurial alertness, showing statistical significance. However, the social network picked up measured variables by the number of regular meetings which are quantitative indicators, but found that there is no statistically significant effect on entrepreneurial alertness. Despite several limitations of this research, we investigate what factors influence entrepreneurial alertness through empirical research on entrepreneurial alertness impact factors that have not been explained in the domestic academic research. Although you saw it, it can be said that there is academic contribution.
