A Study on Estimation of Beat Frequency in a Water Level Measurement Radar (수위 측정 레이다에서의 비트 주파수 추정에 관한 연구)

  • A water level measurement radar estimates beat frequencies to extract the corresponding water level information for water resource management. Therefore, it is required to maintain the high degree of reliability and accuracy in beat frequency estimates. However, Beat spectra of water surface return echoes can have very widely varying shapes according to system frequency linearity, measurement environments and weather conditions. Therefore, serious problems may arise in maintaining the reliability and accuracy of the conventional level estimation method. Therefore, in this paper, high resolution spectrum estimates are analyzed for improvement of the conventional method. These methods show that the more accurate level measurement can be possible on the condition that SNR is higher than a certain required threshold. However, if SNR is too low, the conventional method shows that estimates are more reliable than the suggested method though absolute errors are too large.

  • 홍수와 가뭄, 수질오염 등의 피해에 대한 대책과 보다 효율적인 수자원 관리를 위해서 원자료에 대한 분석이 선행되어야 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 나주지점을 대상으로 하여 총유기탄소(Total Organic Carbon: TOC) 자료와 유출량 자료를 수집하였으며, 각 자료에 대하여 상세한 주기성분을 파악하기 위하여 웨이블렛 변환을 적용하였다. 대상지점으로 선정한 나주지점은 전라남도 나주시 나주대교 상류에 위치하고 있으며, 유역면적이 $2,0587.2km^2$이며, 유로 연장은 65.5km이다. 유출량과 수질자료의 주기성 분석을 위해 유기물의 양을 나타내는 수질지표인 TOC와 나주수위관측소에서 관측된 2003년${\sim}$2004년의 시수위자료를 유출량으로 환산한 값을 사용하였으며, 이 자료의 상세한 주기성 파악을 위해 웨이블렛 변환을 사용하였다. 일반적으로 주기성을 파악하기 위하여 푸리에 변환을 사용하지만, 푸리에 변환은 시간정보와 주파수를 동시에 파악할 수 없을 뿐만 아니라, 자료에 불연속성과 고주파수 성분이 포함될 경우 분석이 난이하다. 이러한 푸리에 변환의 단점을 보안한 것이 웨이블렛 변환이며, 푸리에 변환보다 계산속도가 빠르다. 또한 주어진 자료에 대하여 시간과 주파수 영역에서 동시에 파악하는 것이 가능하며, 불규칙한 자료를 평탄하게 함으로서 보다 상세한 주기성을 찾아낼 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서 추출한 각 자료의 상세 주기성분들은 향후 수자원 관리를 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

An Application of LTR Method in a DUOX System to Control a MDOF Structure Subjected to the Seismic Excitations (루프전달회복법(Loop Transfer Recovery: LTR)을 이용한 다자유도 DUOX 시스템의 지진동 제어)

  • Retaining large stability margin is essential in designing a feedback control system to deal with the uncertainties inherently existing in the mathematical model and the control apparatus. The LQG controller in general loses the stability margin due to the embed Kalman filter. The performance of a control system called LTR with a DUOX structure(LTR/DOUX) to overcome the demerit of LQG controller is to be investigated from the responses in both the time and the frequency domain. The results indicated that the LTR/DOUX recovered the gain margin of 30dB approximately 20 times more than that of LQG/DOUX, resulting in a robust stable control system.

  • 감조하천이 위치한 연안 지역의 경우, 강우 및 태풍과 발생과 동시에 만조위가 겹치게 되면 큰 홍수 피해를 입는 지역이다. 감조하천은 조석의 영향으로 인해 물의 흐름 및 수위가 주기적으로 진동하는 특성을 보이고 있다. 조석 현상은 주로 기조력에 의한 주기적인 운동이 발생하지만, 풍속, 저기압 등의 영향도 함께 포함되어 있다. 연안 지역에 대한 홍수 위험 관리를 위해, 본 연구에서는 연안 지역 내 위치한 조위 관측소의 조위 자료를 주기적인 운동을 보이는 조석 성분과 확률론적인 운동을 보이는 파고 성분으로 분리하고자 하였다. 자료 내 각각 세부적인 특성을 확인하기 위해 주파수 대역별 필터링이 가능한 이산형 웨이블릿 변환을 통해 자료를 6단계로 분해하였다. 분해된 각 성분 별 주기성 및 주파수 분석을 실시하여 조석 성분 및 파고 성분으로 분리하였으며, 최종적으로 자료 내 각각 66% 및 34%의 비중을 차지하고 있음을 확인하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 활용한다면, 파고의 영향을 고려한 연안 지역의 홍수 관리의 기초자료로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

  • As a check on calibration and drift in each discrete sub-system of a commercial frequency-domain airborne electromagnetic system, we aim to use causality constraints alone to predict in-phase from wide-band quadrature data. There are several possible applications of the prediction of in-phase response from quadrature data including: (1) quality control on base level drift, calibration and phase checks; (2) prediction and validation of noise levels in in-phase from quadrature measurements and vice versa and in future; and (3) interpolation and extrapolation of sparsely sampled data enforcing causality and better frequency-domain-time-domain transformations. In practice, using tests on both synthetic and measured Resolve helicopter-borne electromagnetic frequency domain data, in-phase data points could be predicted using a scaled Hilbert transform with a standard deviation between 40 and 80 ppm. However, relative differences between base levels between flight could be resolved to better than 1 ppm, which allows an independent quality control check on the accuracy of drift corrections.

  • Efficient power management plays a crucial role to strengthen competitiveness in the market of portable mobile commodities. This paper presents a proactive power management technique, called by Energy-Aware Scheduling policY (EASY), to exploit the sleep time information of running applications. Different from previous power management approaches focusing on power conservation in standby mode, the proposed scheme characterizes each application program's operational characteristic in active mode by observing how long the task stays in sleep state of CPU scheduler. Based on the measured sleep time, the proposed EASY speculates an adequate CPU clock frequency according to the current CPU workload and scales the frequency directly to the predicted one. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme reduces the power consumption by 10-30% on average compared to traditional DPM approach, with a minimal impact on the performance overhead.

An Active Interference Management Scheme for Cognitive Radio Systems (인지 라디오 시스템에서의 능동적인 간섭 관리 기법)

  • Cognitive radio systems have been considered as a strong solution of frequency scarcity due to the limit of frequency resources. This paper proposed an active interference management scheme that the secondary system can coexist with the primary system in the same frequency band without interference. Using the proposed protocol, the secondary user acquires interference channel information and transmit/receive filter information and designs precoding matrix using these information. Since interference from the secondary systems are collected to unused subchannels of the primary system, the primary system can suppress interference without additional process. The secondary systems suppress interference from the primary system using whitening matched filter so that the spectral efficiency can be improved. Numerical results provides that the proposed scheme improves performance of the secondary systems without interference to the primary system and do not degrade performance of the primary system even if the number of the secondary systems increases.

Determination of Optimal Accelerometer Locations for Bridges using Frequency-Domain Hankel Matrix (주파수영역 Hankel matrix를 사용한 교량의 가속도센서 최적위치 결정)

  • A new algorithm for determining optimal accelerometer locations is proposed by using a frequency-domain Hankel matrix which is much simpler to construct than a time-domain Hankel matrix. The algorithm was examined through simulation studies by comparing the outcomes with those from other available methods. To compare and analyze the results from different methods, a dynamic analysis was carried out under seismic excitation and acceleration data were obtained at the selected optimal sensor locations. Vibrational amplitudes at the selected sensor locations were determined and those of all the other degrees of freedom were determined by using a spline function. MAC index of each method was calculated and compared to look at which method could determine more effective locations of accelerometers. The proposed frequency-domain Hankel matrix could determine reasonable selection of accelerometer locations compared with the others.

  • This study is about the development of a system related to the CATV network. It intends to develop an automatically centralized Headend system and a distributive system to remove the ineffectiveness of the established manual system. To achieve this goal, we took a put of bandwidth, which is not used for the transmission of video signals in the established frequency bandwidth, and used it for the transmission and receiver of controlling signals. By this way we could design a system of transmission and receiver and a automatic distributive system. We developed an information management system for the 9600bps CATV using RS-232 of forward/backward communication and backward communication. Based on window, It consist of ID generation, transmitter/receiver, control and backup part.

  • Material Management is one of the most important task in construction projects. More than 50% of the cost in a construction project is related to material management process. Material management method using RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) is now trying to the construction field. However, there are no enough researches on effective material management in terms of how and where RFID transponder should be installed and there are no other research that which optimization method can be used for effective installation. Therefore, this paper suggest that where and how RFID transponder can be installed on the appropriate position in construction fields using Genetic Algorithm optimization method.
