We surveyed natural enemies of Pachynematus itoi Okutani, newly recorded sawfly pest of Larix leptolepis, and investigated their occurrence and life cycle at Cheolwon and Taebaek, Gangwon Province in 2006~2007. Endasys liaoningensis was identified as main natural enemy of P. itoi Okutani. Parasitism of E. liaoningensiswas was 42%. Emergence period of E. liaoningensis was from May to September, and the peak of emergence was from 21th May to 20th June. It was suggested that the occurrence number and period of E. liaoningensis were quite closely relative to those of host, P. itoi.

오늘날 국민생활에 전기의 의존도는 날로 높아지고 또한 매우 다양하고 고품질의 전력공급을 요구하고 있으며 정보산업사회로의 진입에 따라 고객의 기대수준에 전력공급설비의 발달이 미처 따라주지 못하고 있어 고객에게 감동을 주는 서비스의 실현이 더욱 어려워지고 있는 것이 현실이다. 특히 서울 명동지역은 구건물의 밀집지역으로 상권이 형성되어 있고 외국인 관광객들의 명소로 점차 자리잡아 가고 있는데 반해 전력공급설비는 국내 초기 지중화지역으로 기기설치 공간이 부족하여 노후된 건물 옥상에 다수의 변압기, 케이블이 설치 운영되고 있어 설비관리의 어려움뿐만 아니라 신규전력공급에 부응치 못하는 한계에 도달, 특히 밀집상가의 화재발생 우려 등 많은 문제점으로 안정적 전력공급을 위한 대책이 절실히 요구되는 상황이 되었다. 따라서 이 난해한 문제의 해결과 설비개선을 위해 보다 근원적인 대책을 모색하고자 ‘99년 초 한국전력공사 서울지역본부에 설비혁신 Task-Force를 운영, 명동지역에 가칭 배전 Station 건설을 포함한 종합정비사업을 추진키로 하였다. $\ulcorner$배전 Station$\lrcorner$ 이란 건물 내에 개폐기, 변압기 등 전력기기를 모두 수용하여 전력을 공급하는 소형 배전형 변전소 형태로 국내는 물론 세계적으로도 찾아보기 힘든 경우라 할 것이다. 건울과 설비가 복잡하기로 유명한 유서 깊은 명동지역의 특수한 주변 환경과 조화된 안정적 전력공급의 획기적인 대안으로 실현되고 있는 영동 배전 Station은 현재 3개소를 추진하여 준공단계에 있으며 도심건물 밀집지역의 전력공급에 만전을 다할 것으로 기대하고 있다.

A new species of scale insect, Matsutoctus thunbergianae Miller and Park, is described using life history information and morphological characteristics of adult female, adult male, third instar male, and first instar. The species is morphologically similar to M. matsumurae (Kuwana) and M. resinosae Bean and Godwin; the most obvious structural differences are found in the adult male. The species is univoltine and overwinters as second instars, whereas M. matsumurae and M. resinosae are bivoltine and overwinter as first instars. Information is given supporting evidence that the same instar of different generations of multivoltine species differ significantly morphologically.

Among Korea's national folk cultural heritage, eight villages have been designated, and 37 years have passed since Hahoe Village was first designated in 1984. All eight villages have been constantly inhabited by residents from the past to the present, so the cultural value of inferring the lives of our ancestors in the past is very high. However, due to the inconvenience of the settlement environment in existing houses due to changes in the living environment, buildings such as various residential facilities and warehouses have been installed and expanded without permission, losing the original cultural property landscape and building. In addition, complaints and conflicts from residents are accumulating due to the poor living environment in the village. Therefore, this study intends to present guidelines for conservation and maintenance that can embrace changes in resident's housing and living environment, based on the 'maintenance of original form', the grand principle of the Cultural Properties Protection Law about the Jeju Seongeup Village. In particular, the maintenance plan is largely subdivided into legalization, demolition, expansion and reconstruction, and detailed standards for each item and examples applied are proposed. Through this, it aims to become basic data on the starting point of realistic improvement measures for cultural properties and residents to coexist.

Archaeological survey has been carried out to find some evidence of human occupation in 31 caves in Pyeoungchang, Danyang, Jincheon, Goesan, Munkyoung, Boeun, Sangju in central limestone area of the Korean peninsula. Among those caves, some archaeological evidences were observed in 11 caves. Various types of potteries, animal bones and stone artifacts were collected on surface of sediments in caves. Among them, the Mosan cave in Munkyoung and the Kwangcheonseongul in Pyeoungchang are very likely to yield important archaeological remains in the well preserved deposits in the caves. Further researches are expected to provide significant information for explaining human living from prehistoric time to historical periods.

For example as they being the goods for the summer season I have tried to know the physical quakity and the characters of koreans by the weather conditions and estimated the demand by setting up the target customers of the PAC as the customers' environment. And I analyzed the acts in the living room in the apartments as the living envinorment which has the direct relation with PAC and also became a help to the moulding work of PAC by analyzing the complete interior image in the living room. In the practical moulding work the Design concept was classified into the envinorment of customer, living and products to drive as the below. Firstly - New shape (Round slim) has been realized which leads the minimizing the moulding space and visul sense of opening as its being spacious. The 2nd - the high class sense of the products which are harmonious with the atmosphere of the living room by making it interiorized has been visible. The 3rd - The shape stimulating the sensitivity of the users and surface treatment are emphasized by making it be touched. Objective : Postpartum depression(PPD) was known to be caused by many factors including various psychosocial risk factors. This study was performed to identify the psychosocial risk factors for ppd, preliminarily in Korea. Methods : A group of 119 postpartum women, each of whom was at 6 to 8 weeks after delivery was identified at the time when they visited to the child health clinic or postnatal check-up clinic. The risk factors were surveyed by the self-reported questionnaire. The items of questionnaire were consisted of known risk factors in other studies and other possible stress-related factors. PPD was assessed by the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale(EPDS) and the degree of postpartum depression was determined by its score. Results : 16 women(13.45%) in the high risk group were diagnosed as PPD among the 119 women. Risk factors including past experience of depressive symptoms and low level of marital satisfaction were founded more frequently in women in the high risk group than in the low risk group. The score of EPDS was significantly high in the group who experienced depressive symptoms in the past, anxiety or depression during pregnancy, stressful life event during the period of recent pregnancy and postpartum, and who had low level of marital satisfaction. There was a positive correlation between age and the score of EPDS. However, the postpartum depressive symptoms were not influenced by the level of education, job, retirement due to pregnancy and delivery, wanted or unwanted pregnancy, delivery method, feeding method, the hospitalization of infant, expected and real gender of infant. Conclusion : These results suggest that PPD is quite frequent at postpartum period. Various risk factors contribute to the development of PPD. If clinicians pay attention to the risk factors of PPD and give appropriate psychiatric intervention to the mothers during pregnancy and postpartum, it will be easy for the clinicians to recognize and treat PPD in the early stage.

These studies were carried out to examine the developmental process of galls caused by aphids in Rhus gavanica and the effects of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) and ${\alpha}$-naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) on the tannin accumulation in the callus induced from that galls. The results are follows. The development of fist-shaped galls has begun at the beginning of June earlier than the case of finger-shaped galls, and also, the growth of fist-shaped galls has last to September longer than the period of finger-shaped galls. These results indicate that the life cycle and feeding activity of the aphids inhabited in fist-shaped galls were longer and mire active than the case of the aphids inhabited in finger-shaped galls. Tannin contents of fist-shaped galls revealed about 60${\sim}70%$ of total dry weights during the whole growth periods, however, the contents in finger-shaped galls were under 10% at the maximum value. These facts mean that finger-shaped galls seem to be as a habitat of aphids rather than as a major source of tannin such as fist-shaped galls. The growth of callus induced from fist-shaped galls was the most effective in the plot of $10^{-5}$ mole IAA, but the tannin accumulation in callus growth was not even caused in any plots of IAA treatments as wells as in any NAA plots. These results considered that the tannin accumulation in fist-shaped galls may be caused only in specific relation between host plant and life cycle of aphids.

It is well documented that physiological and nutritional condition of wintering birds is strongly related to migration success to breeding sites, and also breeding success. However, how abiotic factors during winter affect the migration and breeding successes still remains unclear. Thus, this study developed a dynamic-state-dependent model for wintering life-history to identify the potential impact on the life-history, success to breeding site and breeding success of wintering birds, which are related to temperature fluctuation, interspecific competition and human disturbance at the wintering sites. To find the best-fit-model, we referred to the existing research data on wintering ecology of Red-crowned cranes (Grus japonensis) in Cheolwon, Korea, which is well documented as a long-term wintering study. Our model predicted that the higher temperature fluctuation and a higher rate of human disturbance are negatively related to migration success to breeding sites and their fitness, ultimately breeding success via changing of proportion in resource allocation (for e. g., lower energy compensation or higher level of stress accumulation). Particularly, the rate of body mass compensation after arrival at wintering sites may be accelerated when there are less temperature fluctuations and a lower rate of human disturbance. In addition, the rate of interspecific competition sharing the wintering foraging sites is negatively related to the rate of body mass compensation. Consequently, we discussed the conservation strategies of wintering birds based on the outcomes of the model.
