A Logit Model for Repeated Binary Response Data (반복측정의 이가반응 자료에 대한 로짓 모형)

  • This paper discusses model building for repeated binary response data with different time-dependent covariates each occasion. Since repeated measurements data are having correlated structure, weighed least squares(WLS) methodology is applied. Repeated measures designs are usually having different sizes of experimental units like split-plot designs. However repeated measures designs differ from split-plot designs in that the levels of one or more factors cannot be randomly assigned to one or more of the sizes of experimental units in the experiment. In this case, the levels of time cannot be assigned at random to the time intervals. Because of this nonrandom assignment, the errors corresponding to the respective experimental units may have a covariance matrix. So, the estimates of effects included in a suggested logit model are obtained by using covariance structures.

  • This paper discusses how to construct a generalized marginal logit model for analyzing repeated polytomous response data when some factors are applied to larger experimental units as treatments and time to a smaller experimental unit as a repeated measures factor. So, two different experimental sizes are considered. Weighted least squares(WLS) methods are used for estimating fixed effects in the suggested model.

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate the benefits associated with the opportunities of multiple destination trips using a mixed logit model. The opportunities that affect the destination choice can be one of the external environments of recreational sites. The data for this study were taken from a survey conducted to the multiple destination trip participants at Seorak National Park in Korea. The results of the research show the specific values of complementary opportunities in the study area.

Using Mixed Logit Model and Latent Class Model to Analyze Preference Heterogeneity in Choice Experiment Data (선택실험법 자료에서의 선호이질성 분석을 위한 혼합로짓모형 및 잠재계층모형의 활용)

  • Conditional Logit (CL) model is widely used since its model estimation and interpretation of results of the model is relatively easy, on the other hand, it has the limit of preference heterogeneity of respondents being not fully considered. In this study we used the two models, Mixed Logit (ML) Model and Latent Class Model (LCM) to explain preference heterogeneity of respondents for protection for Boryeong Dam wetland. As a result of the examination for heterogeneity in Boryeong city and six metropolitan areas, we found there was significant difference between two regions. While there was explicit preference heterogeneity within respondents in Boryeong city, we found little heterogeneity within respondents in six metropolitan areas. Thus in the case of six metropolitan areas, CL model can be used for parameter estimation while in the case of Boryeong city, WTP estimates are based on parameter estimates from ML model to reflect the heterogeneity within respondents. Additionally, ML model with interaction and 2-class LCM for respondents in Boryeong city were used to explain the sources of the heterogeneity. The ML model with interaction has advantage of explaining individual unobserved heterogeneity. However The comarison between these two models reflects the fact that LCM provided added information that was not conveyed in the ML model with interaction. Thus, Preference heterogeneity within respondents in this study may be better explained by class level through LCM rather than indiviual level through ML model.

  • A parking facility choice model. which can be applied to analyze of the driver's parking behavioral changes in response to the local government's parking policy changes and to predict parking demand by the facility types, is developed. Under the context of the stated preference discrete choice model, socioeconomic variables and parking alternative characteristic variables are introduced as explanatory variables. A parking facility choice model for the shopping trip purpose is derived using multinomial logit model and nested logit model and the stated preference data collected in Taegu metropolitan area. The result shows that the sign of all the estimated parameters are logically consistent and the model's goodness of fit is reasonably good. As a result of the elasticity analysis of the model, the elasticity of parking cost is highest, and the elasticity of walking distance between parking place and the destination is higher than parking place searching and ingress time. This means that the parking places are supplied around the destination in the form of small-size parking place. The findings in this study is expected to provide a fundamental data for various short-term parking policy analyses and for parking facility's demand estimations.

  • This study aims to investigate the effects of regular participation in physical activity on personal happiness by analyzing the "2014 National Leisure Sports Participation Survey". By using cross-tabulation and the binary logit model, it is found that there is a positive correlation between those two variables. The effect of positive affect on happiness index was found to be influenced by age, education level, occupation, income, marital status, appear. The results of the analysis of the relationship between the presence of sports facilities and the participation of regular physical activity using crosstab analysis and the analysis of physical activity showed positive relationship between two variables. Hence, it is expected that providing more opportunities to participate in sports programs can lead the public to more regular participation in physical activity.

  • Using the Choice Experiment Method, this paper identified whether subsidy to the household around landfil in Seoul metropolitan area is being provided corresponding to the scale of the environmental damage. Since 2001, the subsidy program has been operating for nearly 20 years to compensate for various environmental damage (foul odor, noise, air pollution, water pollution, etc.) from landfill site in the metropolitan area, but it is not clear on what ground the subsidy is allocated. This paper estimated the marginal WTP by attribute (odor, noise, air pollution, and water pollution) based on mixed logit model and compared them with current subsidy level per household in each town. As a result of the comparison, it was found that the subsidy for each town was not allocated in proportion to the amount of the marginal WTP for each household in the corresponding town. In addition, this paper constructs a level-by-level scenario for environmental improvement attributes and compares economic benefits and current subsidy levels. As a result, the current subsidy level is insufficient compared to the level at which environmental damage is completely eliminated, but excessive subsidy is allocated compared to partial improvement levels.

  • Destination choice analysis is an important issue of transportation demand research. The current study analyses the influential factors for university students' trip destination choice. The university students differ from other population groups in many aspects. The study is concerned with shopping, leisure and amusement purposes of trips, other than obligatory trips such as going to school. University students' daily life differs from those of employees and middle and high school students in the sense that a lot of flexible activities are mixed with fixed activities such as work and school attending. A multinomial logit analysis investigates the significance of the impact of a set of variables including residential location, gender and income of the university student. The results show that these variables affect the destination choice of shopping, leisure and amusement. The analysis also provides interesting interpretation of the relationships of the variables with the location choices, which are particularly relevant to the university students.

Life Satisfaction of Urban-to-Rural Migrants in South Korea - Income vs. Nature - (귀농·귀촌인의 소득만족도와 자연환경만족도 비교 분석)

  • 농촌인구의 급격한 감소와 고령화 속에서 농촌의 지속가능성을 위한 방안으로 귀농·귀촌의 확대가 부각되고 있다. 본 연구는 귀농·귀촌인의 생활만족도 결정요인을 분석함으로써 도시민의 농촌 이주와 성공적인 정착을 촉진하기 위한 정책적 시사점을 제공하고자 한다. 본 연구는 특히 귀농·귀촌의 주요 동기가 소득이나 농촌의 자연환경이라는 점에서, 생활만족도를 자연환경만족도와 소득만족도로 구분하여 비교 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 분석에는 순서형 로짓모형과 일반화 로짓모형을 사용하였고, 분석자료는 2016년 「귀농귀촌실태조사」 원자료이다. 분석결과, 귀농·귀촌인의 자연환경만족도는 상당히 높으나 소득만족도는 보통 수준에 미치지 못하였다. 귀농·귀촌의 이유가 자연환경이거나, 귀농·귀촌 시 가족의 지지가 있었거나, 귀농·귀촌 이후 주변 이웃들과 좋은 관계를 유지하거나, 지자체로부터 귀농·귀촌 지원을 받은 경우, 귀농·귀촌인의 소득만족도와 자연환경만족도가 모두 높았다. 이러한 공통적인 요인 이외에 귀농·귀촌인의 소득만족도와 자연환경만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인은 뚜렷한 차이를 보였다. 소득만족도는 현재 가구소득이나 귀농·귀촌 전·후 소득 변화와 같은 경제적 요인에 의해 영향을 받으나, 자연환경만족도는 귀농·귀촌 시 배우자의 동행 여부나 지역사회 참여와 같은 사회적 요인에 의해 주로 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다.

A Study on the Transport Mode Choice for Asian Highway No.6 Route (아시안하이웨이 6번 노선의 국제여객 교통수단선택에 관한 연구)

  • By promoting the international transportation and the improvement of advanced exchange between South and North Korea, the Asian Highway plan was expected to make considerable economical effects in the North-East Asian region. This study focuses on a part of AH6 route (i.e., South Korea-North Korea-China-Far East Russia) and aims to analyze the behavioral change of international passenger transport around the Korean Peninsula by assuming the non-existent North Korea land transport network connectivity. The study was performed using two main methods. First, a stated preference survey was performed to derive the actual modal share of each travel mode. Second, a disaggregate analysis was performed to develop possible mode-choice models for international passenger travel and find out the suitable choice. Based on the results of the model estimation, it is found that over 90% of the international passenger transport would be converted to land transport (rail+highway). In addition, international railroad modal share rate would be increased from 62.8% to 66.1% and international bus would be decreased from 29.6% to 21.9% as the distance lengthened (903km~1,631km).
