British housing types began with detached houses using wood based on early Germanic cultures, and gradually divided into multi-story houses such as terraces houses, with the influx of houses using stone from Latin cultures influenced by France. Today, various types of housing types such as detached houses, townhouses, and apartments are mixed, and their origins can be found in housing types that have continued from the past. Housing types existing in the UK continue their context through this historical development process, but housing types in the UK also have been combined with those of other cultures, leading to modern housing types. In this paper, we examine the process of the UK's peculiar development of housing types superimposed with the recurring motion to the traditional European urban structures prior to the industrial revolution during contemporary years, and perimeter block collective housings of today; then, we study the process of applying the UK case as a concept of practical design and planning in order to continuously consider Korea's modern urban structure and corresponding types of housing. Through this process, we explore the identity of the housing type in Korea, which is pursuing fundamental changes in residential culture beyond quantitative housing supply in the process of rapid urbanization.

As the 3D Greenery system is known to improve the urban environment, it works as new alternative for eco-friendly building and warrants further study for application to the domestic field. This study aimed to apply the design components for eco-friendly composition by investigating the spatial characteristics of the 3D Greenery System reflected in interior and exterior of buildings and to analyze the organization and design elements of domestic and foreign cases. The results showed that instances of the Greenery System tended to be a large scale and high-density development in order to expand various exterior spaces. Although its early forms were often found in such public facilities as exhibition and education purpose, cases of multi-unit dwelling have been growing. Allowing apartment residents to prefer intimate space by providing various such spaces for residential units and offering independent green spaces would induce diverse residents' lifestyles rather than monotonous design. The analysis also indicated that community space composed of various outdoor spaces and atmosphere would change life patterns of multi-housing and establish a real neighborhood through social interaction. Moreover, further investigation of the design patterns of outdoor space arrangement is needed since the Greenery system actively reflects the environmental characteristics of building sites and clearly shows a tendency to utilize natural terrain and slope in building shapes.
This objective of this study is to thoroughly analyze the policies of international organizations and major advanced countries relevant to the realization of Green port To construct Green ports, there first must be competition to build such ports in sustainable, fixed quantities. Second, there is a great need for cooperation and support networks made binding by mutual agreements on ship recycling. Third, there is a need for scientific research on responses to changes in environmental regulations and on environmental issues. Today, the majority of the world's ports use gasoline or electric energy, and improving capacities for self-sufficiency through development of new and renewable energy is judged to be a pressing task. The conditions for an eco-friendly port is that it must be an important center for economic and industrial activity, and valuable as a site where people live and work, with residences and work places existing in close proximity.

COVID-19 has had a detrimental effect on urban vibrancy, particularly in urban commercial districts. Against this backdrop, the goal of this study is to examine the changes in social and economic vitality in Seoul's commercial area before and after the COVID-19 outbreak, and to identify influential factors for the changes in vitality using multinomial logistic analysis. The following are the key findings derived from the study. First, an examination of the changes in the vitality of commercial districts by type revealed that the decline in economic vitality was greater than the decline in social vitality. Second, the greater the residential ratio, the less harmful the impact of COVID-19 on urban vibrancy. Third, unlike other types of commercial districts, traditional markets had a minor increase in credit card sales even though the floating population fell during the COVID-19 pandemic. Fourth, the accessibility of the subway did not play a positive role in reversing the decline in social and economic vitality caused by the pandemic in the commercial district of Seoul; rather, the accessibility of private automobiles contributed to the increase in social and economic vitality. These results imply that the development and activation of commercial areas accessible by non-motorized modes in the residential neighborhood are becoming crucial in the post pandemic era.

From 1960, the government decided to build apartment houses on a large scale in order to resolve the rising housing problems. However, the maintenance issues that have arisen from the deterioration of housing has not received adequate attention. The policy focuses only on the supply of housing. By passing new laws, the durable period during which buildings allowed reconstruction was increased, and long term maintenance plans were treated as important issues. The government was then obligated to establish certain long term maintenance plans and costs by legislating a Housing Act and requiring it be adjusted every three years. However, when planning long-term repair costs, doing so without considering the time value of money would become a problem. In addition, if differences between the planned repair costs and actual costs occur, it becomes necessary to adjust the long-term repair costs but, as of yet, the criteria to adjust such things does not exist. For these reasons, if there is lack of money to execute large-scale repair work, a building is unlikely to respond to deterioration of housing; on the other hand, an unnecessary reserve or pool of money can lead to conflict among residents. Therefore, this paper will propose estimation and adjustment models considering the time value of money for long term maintenance costs of apartment houses.

Libraries are one of the essential living infrastructures in urban regeneration. Beyond its meaning as a basic living infrastructure, it is necessary to first understand the role, nature and forms of participation in existing urban regeneration projects in order for libraries to perform their functions and roles effectively as participants of urban regeneration. Therefore, this study investigates the contents related to libraries in the contents of the strategic plan related to urban regeneration projects, and considers them in terms of the role of the library and the form of participation. Through this, the city's library would seek to maximize its role and function as a participant in urban regeneration. As a result, the library in urban regeneration is expected to improve the quality of living environment, Urban vitality, culturally, educationally, socially/welfare role closely related to life, and the role of community as a hub. In addition, the types of library participation could be largely divided into regional and geographical libraries, hybrid libraries combined with various services, libraries based on community cooperation and linkage, and regional community hub libraries based on community participation. In the future, the library needs to promote a more active role change based on the five roles expected as participants in urban regeneration. In addition, more detailed discussions on librarians, services, and programs, which are the main subjects of library services, will be needed in developing urban regeneration plans in order for libraries to successfully fulfill their role as urban regeneration centers.

The government announced the Housing Welfare Roadmap (November 2017), to expand the supply of public rental housing by reconstructing aged long-term public rental complexes. Also, remodeling projects for complexes with low business feasibility of reconstruction projects are recognized as an alternative to supplying public rental housing in urban area. This study analyzed influence factors by dividing them into project feasibility, architectural plan, urban & residential environment plan, and legal system groups in order to establish a plan for long-term public rental housing remodeling project. Futhermore, this work conducted the principal component analysis to get the principal component factors among the influence factors of each group, and the weight analysis to calculate weighting of them. In addition, major influence factors were derived by calculating the relative importance score (RIS) of each factor. Lastly this paper validated the major influence factors and applicability of the procedure to select 3 complexes that can be reviewed for remolding project among 33 long-term public rental housing complexes located in Seoul. The results of this study are expected to be useful when establishing a remodeling project plan for long-term public rental housing.
In order to address housing issues, alleviate the concentration of urban populations, and resolve other issues regarding residential spaces, large residential complexes have been developed in Korea since the 1970s. The changes to the residential culture due to such development projects propagated rapidly, making the apartment complexes the most representative form of housing in Korea. In developing such large-scale complexes, plans for public open spaces, which play an important role in formulating the quality of residential environment, have been mostly the same, only utilizing the spaces remaining after planning other types of spaces. The current study looks at the case of Tama New Town development project, a Japanese new town development project that has a similar public open space system in large scale residential complex development projects in Korea. In doing so, the current study aims to identify the features of public open space plans. In the conclusion, the study first finds that various public open spaces must be reviewed and introduced in term of predicting social demands. Second, the study suggests the policy-makers should actively introduce pedestrian paths as a public open space. Third, the study deduces the planning implications of applying the principle of original landscape preservation.
Diverse problems in wind environment has occurred through rapid urbanization and growth of high-rise building numbers, This study aims to propose the CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulation method and evaluation standard of wind environment in site planning of high rise apartment housing. The CFD simulation method proposed in this study is not existing detail simulation, but it is the method that a designer can correct and develop the design through immediate evaluation of design options in concept design phase. Therefore, the proposed CFD simulation method of wind environment in this study uses the BIM based CFD tool in which the 3D model in concept design phase can be used as for the CFD simulation. In this paper, the study examines existing evaluation standards of comfortableness level in wind environment for pedestrian near buildings, and selects new evaluation method which is possible to apply to the proposed CFD simulation method. In addition, it is to examine calculation time-spending and appropriate mesh division method for finding CFD result which is useful to find the best design options in aspect of wind environment in concept design phase. Furthermore, it proposes the wind environment evaluation method through BIM based CFD simulation.
