WNW Trending Lineament and Criteria of Left-Lateral Displacement Around Haman-Uiryeong, Korea (함안-의령 일대 서북서 방향의 선상구조와 좌향이동 지시자)

  • Two half circular structures are developed in the northern and southern blocks which divided by the WNW-trending lineament around Uiryeong-Haman area, southern part of the Gyeongsang basin. By displacing one half circular structure to the other one about 750 m, a perfect circular structure is reconstructed. Thus the WNW-trending lineament is a left-lateral fault displacing the circular structure. The NNW trending ridges are dragged with anticlockwise sense near the WNW-trending fault, which indicates also the existence of a sinistral movement.

Low Phase Noise VCO Using Novel Harmonic Control Circuit Based on Composite Right/Left-Handed Transmission Line (혼합 우좌향 전송 선로 기반의 새로운 고조파 조절 회로를 이용한 저위상 잡음 전압 제어 발진기)

  • In this paper, a novel voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) using the harmonic control circuit based on the composite right/left-handed (CRLH) transmission lines (TLs) is presented to reduce the phase noise without the reduction of the frequency tuning range and miniaturize the circuit size. The phase noise is reduced by the novel harmonic control circuit having the short impedances for the second- and third-harmonic components. The proposed harmonic control circuit is designed by using the CRLH TLs with the dual-band characteristic by the frequency offset and phase slope of the CRLH TLs. The high-Q resonator has been used to reduce the phase noise, but has the problem of the frequency tuning range reduction. However, the frequency tuning range of the proposed VCO has not been reduced because the phase noise has been reduced without the high-Q resonator. The miniaturization of the circuit size is achieved by using the CRLH TLs instead of the conventional right-handed (RH) TLs. The phase noise of VCO is -119.17 ~ -117.50 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz in the tuning range of 5.731 ~ 5.938 GHz.

  • With the effect that the Yipsu-ryong(入首龍) of Ju-san(主山) influenced on the layout in the view of geomantic topography(形勢), how Ahn-san(案山) affected the layout plan of the Korean academics of classical learning(書院) is researched. And how the "Jirisinbeob(地理新法)" which had been written by Ho-sun-sin(胡舜申) was applied to the Korean academics of classical learning in the view of Li and Ch'i(理氣) is studied. In Fengshui, the method to pick out a site and to confirm the direction for building construction was divided into two, one of them was 'the geomantic topography', which included 'Ju-san following type(主山順應形)', 'Ahn-san stressing type(案山重視形)' and 'Ju-san & Ahn-san complex type(主 案山混合形)'. And the other is the 'Rule of direction(向法)'. The Korean academics of classical learning was applied by the geomantic topography of Fengshui for its layout and direction, regardless of political, regional and period factors. So when the Sa-rim(士林) needed to set direction for the Korean academics of classical learning, the ground that was appropriate to the geomantic topography of Fengshui was selected. Therefore, the Sa-rim who was abused in Neo-Confucianism had a mind of stressing geomantic topography of Fengshui and they applied it positively for building construction.

  • The purpose of this study is to clarify the site selection and orientation which have affected the western missionaries in construction of the first western house in Cheongju area. The results of this study are as follows; In the site selection, they chose Tap-Dong hill, by finding the higher position and taking a fine view of all natural elements, because the alters like the tomb of Confucius, the existing settlement Godang village, Dang Mt. are already located around this area. And also it was that they could easily go into Tap-Dong hill through the existing alleys, These alleys, generated near the original road of Tap-Dong hill, are developed to modern road system. These alleys affect western house's entrance and orientation. In deciding the orientation of house, korean people prefer to south and east by considering Feng-shui theory; otherwise western house, specially the first house has a southwestern aspect, because the western missionaries have a preference for the topography, entry, and view than a house facing south.

  • The meaning of the lay of the houses - traditional dwellings- was discussed and its application in the rural village was surveyed, The azimuth of the houses is considered to the direction of a sun and the house facing south is best. The houses are built with a low and comfortable hill for a background. The direction of the houses, which way the center of a house looks, usually looks the 70-80% point of a ridge line.   • "Seonweon Bogam" was made for the purpose of delivering information on the tomb of members of the royal family of the Joseon Dynasty. Accordingly, it covered all of Sando making a pictorial expression of the tomb. But its value has been doubted as it is roughly expressed and different from the picture of the actual scene. But "Seonweon Bogam" is the only book that covers Sando of all the kings of the Joseon Dynasty but contains the elements making it possible to estimate the possibility that the original Sando might be used in making Sando. Accordingly, it is a high time to make an in-deep study of this. This study attempted to investigate Sando included in "Seonweon Bogam" with a focus on the expressive style. For this purpose, it sought to analyze seven elements such as the exposure, the legend, locational information, direction, waterway and road, expression on water and Fengshui(風水) terminology. As a result, the following conclusion was drawn: Sando concerning the tombs of members of the Joseon Dynasty was continually made. It was made in two ways such as the way of drawing the scene on spot and the way of imitating the existing made material. And it could be estimated that there is a possibility that Sando of "Seonweon Bogam" might be copied by the figure with only a little expertise about Sando but on the basis of several materials about the existing Sando of the royal family.

변위가 발생한 매립부 지반에 대한 연구

  • 변위가 발생한 해안도로 옹벽에 대한 원인을 규명하기 위하여 기반암과 매립부 지반에 대한 조사를 실시하였다. 연구지역에서 지질구조선의 발달은 관찰되지 않고 지표에서 기반암의 거동은 낙석의 형태로 나타난다. 기반암은 생교란작용의 유무에 따라 상, 하부지층이 구분되며 하부 지층은 신선한 상태로 이완된 불연속면은 나타나지 않는다. 변위는 옹벽의 이음부에 집중되며 옹벽의 운동방향은 우향이동과 좌향이동이 반복되며 최초 변위 발생지점 (시 점부)에서 멀어짐에 따라 장력에 의한 확장 (벌어짐)이 우세하며 종점부에서 회전운동이 수반된다. 이음부의 확장과 회전은 최초 발생 지점에서 응력이 전달되는 과정에서 나타난 것으로 해석된다. 매립부 지반의 전기비저항탐사에서 상부의 매립층은 높은 전기비저항을 가지는 것에 반해 하부는 매우 낮은 전기비저항 값을 보여준다. 이는 매립부의 하부지반이 해수면 이하에 위치하여 해수와 같은 유체의 영향을 받으나, 상부는 유체의 영향을 거의 받지 않는 것으로 추정된다. 반면 최초 변위가 발생한 지점의 매립부 지반은 하부와 같이 낮은 전기비저항 값을 보여준다. GPR 탐사에서 최초 변위 발생 지점에서 매질의 이완 내지 공동으로 추정되는 구조가 관찰된다.

  • This study is about the co-relationship between the directional orientation of the houses and the geometric direction in the Korean traditional villages. The major mountain in the back of the village and the front mountain ranges give the most important influence for the direction of the houses. This paper, therefore, tries to identify how the houses of villages facing South-west direct the orientation. The village, where the natural environment face the South-west village, solves the problem by facing major direction rather than one all direction. All houses observe and respect the circumstance of geomantic surrounding to the extant that almost no houses revise its direction without any geomantic reference. This kind of research let us know the relationship between the natural direction, the direction of geomantic surrounding, and the direction of houses in traditional Korean villages.
