They knew about hospice a little and were aware of its necessity. They also knew about the necessity of visiting palliative care and were interested in receiving it when appropriate but did not know much about it. Conclusions : First, there is a large difference between Busan citizens' expectations on what constitutes a good death and what a good death really is. Second, Hospice palliative care should be provided to the community. Third, the older the patient is, the more palliative care visits are necessary. Fourth, 40s and 50s must make preparations for hospice palliative care in their future.
As the funeral service is on ritual of addressing death that is the final phase of life, it can be said to be the final stage of welfare service. It is developing into the stage of make-up, which reproduces the image of reality or expresses with the better appearance from the level of recovery technique, which restores the final form of the dead. This is caused by a request of the bereaved family with the aim of remembering the dead's final image with good looks. Methods, which are being changed by period, can be found in a record. As this funeral make-up is one field of special make-up, it is systematically made into proper application method along with the development in special materials. Thus, it will become one of the most important courses henceforth in our funeral culture available for beautifully decorating the dead's final image. In order to satisfy the request of the bereaved family, it is necessary to made floral decoration, casket cloth, and acoustic effect including the casket stage of worshipping the dead inside the funeral hall.
Nowadays, the attention of integrity increases in ethics by concerning about the self and reviving the virtue ethic. It's terminology is diverse because integrity is understood and translated in various dimensions. I am trying to translate integrity into self-integration. Firstly, the reason why is to bring the Latin language of integrity. The Latin language of integrity means an undivided and broken completeness or totality with nothing wanting. Secondly, This is the reason why it is related with the morally good life. This integrity is not an integration as a stream of consciousness and a substantial self identity given from an ancient Greek. I resolve a self integration through the unity of a narrative of MacIntyre. MacIntyre's point is like this. Integrity is connected with the unity of character which a self is embedded in character. The unity of character presupposes a self identity, ultimately the integrity of narrative requires the unity of character. But like a beginning and middle and end of a narrative, he says that the concept of self is based on the its unity in the narrative uniting birth and middle and death. This is in the course of life being his/her history and narrative because a self has a sustainability of time embedded in a life from birth to end. That self exists as a subject making its narrative shows being responsible for and responsible for experience and action constructing this narrative. This shows the relation with narrative and temporality. The self of present is talking about the self of past and brings the problem of responsibility by narrating the self of future. Then, who are those person who live life of their integrity. We can talk that comfort women live life of their integrity. Comfort women realized their integrity by narrating and become subject of their history.

The purpose of this study was to identify relationships between the awareness of well-dying, advance directives knowledge and attitude, according to patient's terminal care experience among nursing students. Participants were 321 nursing students, selected from 3 universities located in Gyeonggi-do, Chungcheong-do, Jeolla-do and data were collected using self-reported questionnaires. Data were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 25.0 program, with descriptive statistics x2-test, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe' test, Pearson's correlation coefficient. There was a significant difference in advance directives attitude among nursing students with experience of patient's terminal care or no experience of patient's terminal care (t=3.011, p<.003). In addition, the awareness of well-dying (r=.194, p=.008) and advance directives knowledge (r=.201, p=.006) were positively correlated with advance directives attitude in nursing students with experience of patient's terminal care, whereas advance directives attitude was positively correlated with the awareness of well-dying (r=.189, p=.029) in nursing students with no experience of patient's terminal care. This study suggests that there is a need for the development of systematic education programs to improve a positive attitude toward advance directives and awareness of well-dying of nursing college students.
Despite a recent increased nation's attention given to improving end-life care, we professionals need to be more critical and reflective on our realities surrounding hospice palliative care. The aim of this paper is to suggest that palliative care models can be used for patients/families in the last phase of life and examine whether they are appropriate for caring them in congruence with philosophy of hospice. The hospice experience model (HEM) of Eagan & Labyak and the developmental model of Byock are introduced and examined for their congruence with philosophy of hospice in applying to clinical practice. The HEM as a patient/family value-directed end of life care model emphasizes three principles; unique experience of patient/family, interactions/relationships among multiple dimensions of personhood and between family, and personal growth and development in the face of suffering through a life-completion. The developmental model stipulates dying as the last stage of living, a stage of life cycle in which patients/family may have growth through life-completion in multidimensional relationships of personhood. The model includes the developmental landmarks and tasks for life-completion as the framework to guide a means of professionals' to recognize their opportunity to grow. The landmarks and tasks include worldly and social affair, individual relationships, intrapersonal, and transcendent dimension. The models could work as appropriate palliative care models for patients/families in the last stage of living. The professionals need to be encouraged to apply the models to end of life care setting.
Purpose: The Assessing Care Of Vulnerable Elders project has developed indicators for the quality of the end-of-life (EOL) care. However, family members of cancer patients may have a different view on the quality indicators (QIs) established by health care experts. We evaluated the QIs from the family members' perspective. Methods: The information used in this study was gathered by surveying family members of cancer patients who were admitted to the inpatient hospice ward in Korea. A cross-sectional anonymous questionnaire was distributed to 120 potential respondents from July to October 2009. We included 69 responses in this study (effective response rate, 57.5%). Statistical analysis was performed by using SPSS for Win ver. 14.0, with independent t-test and Pearson's chi-square test. Results: Among QIs for good hospice care, families agreed the most on "Medical examination by the palliative care team or specialist" (88.4%) and "Dying in the family's presence" (88.4%). They agreed the least on "Discussing cardiopulmonary resuscitation with patients" (15.9%). Among QIs for bad hospice care, "Occurrence of fall or pressure ulcer are undesirable" showed the highest agreement rate (94.2%). The lowest agreement rate was 11.6% on "Dying in the hospital is undesirable." In addition, women, patients who were aware of their prognoses, and people with a high socioeconomic status tended to agree more on the QIs. Conclusion: Patients' families did not agree on some of the QIs recommended by previous studies. Family members' characteristics were related to their opinions on QIs.
