  • Digital documents takes place of paper (off-line) documents, because of the advantages of digital (on-line) documents: supply of information using dynamic contents and good to communize. However, users prefer paper documents to digital documents with the advantages of paper documents: inexpensive, handy to carry, and good to read. Therefore, for providing advantages of digital documents to users who prefer paper documents, many laboratories study about methods which augment digital documents to paper documents. In this paper, we propose the Hybrid Documents Authoring Tool (HDAT), which can insert, delete, and modify on-line information to the off-line. The proposed system is a unified authoring tool for reading and writing of on-line information. And we provide the most natural environment to users using computer vision technology without additional devices such as markers or patterns to retrieve documents. As shown by experimental results, we make sure that our proposed system has high usability and good efficiency on various environments through we measure the low-level of system requirement.

  • Mesenchymal cystic hamartoma of the lung is quite rare lesion which has an unknown prevalence, firstly described in 1986. It is characterized by multiple nodules and variable sized cysts in both lung field. The nodules of immature mesenchymal cells gradually enlarge and become cysts which are lined with normal or metaplastic respiratory epithelium and have the cambium layer of primitive mesenchymal cells. Main symptoms are hemoptysis, recurrent pneumothorax, and hemothorax. It is known to benign tumor, but has possibility of malignant degeneration. In gross findings in opertive field, multiple and variable-sized cystic lesions and nodules were observed. The cysts were lined with normal respiratory epithelium and had the cambium layer of primitive mesenchymal cell. Gross and microscopic findings were compatible with mesenchymal cystic hamartoma. We report a case of mesenchymal cystic hamartoma in a 27-year-old woman who had recurrent pneumothorax and hemoptysis.

  • The purpose of the study was to introduce the fish fauna and distribution in the Shinpo district, North Korea. Sampling was carried out in October 1997, July 1998, May and October 2002, in sites located in the upstream, middle and down of the southern river of Bukcheong and three brackish lakes of Hommanpo, Daein and Hyunkum, respectively. A total of 29 species belonging to 11 families were found. Family Cyprinidae showed the prosperity in species number, comprising 28% among total species found. No natural monument fishes or rare fishes were captured. Ten commercial species, five anadromous ones and five brackish ones were identified. Feeding guilds was identified as 11 carnivores, 2 herbivores and 7 omnivores. Twenty species belonging to 7 families inhabited in the river, 18 species of 6 families in Lake Homanpo, 21 of 7 in Lake Hyunkum and 23 of 8 in Lake Daein, respectively. Ecological indices of richness, diversity and evenness were highest in Lake Daein and the dominace index was highest in Lake Hyunkum.

  • The present study is aimed to evaluate forest health in a fragmented urban forest using characteristics of insect communities. Ants (Formicidae) and ground beetles (Carabidae) surveyed by pitfall trap method in the Hongneung forest located in the urban area of Seoul were compared with those in the Gwangneung forest. The Gwangneung forest is supposed to be health due to its high biodiversity and well-conserved nature. Ants of the Hongneung forest was much more abundant compared with those of the Gwangneung forest. However, ground beetles showed the opposite patterns; much more abundant in the Gwangneung forest than in the Hongneung forest. Species richness was higher in the Gwangneung forest than in the Hongneung forest, but species diversity was higher in the Hongneung forest. In the Hongneung forest, forest specialist species and generalist species were balanced, whereas few forest specialists dominated in the Gwangneung forest. This dominance decreased species diversity in those Gwangneung forest. Thus, characteristics of insect community in the Hongneung forest were greatly different with those in the Gwangneung forest.

  • Species composition and seasonal variation of fish eggs and larvae were investigated from 2017 to 2018. During the study period, the fish eggs were identified as belonging to 6 taxa. The dominant species of fish eggs were Engraulis japonicus, Leiognathus nuchalis, and Konosirus punctatus. These three species accounted for 96% of the total number of individuals collected. The collected larval fishes were identified into 17 taxa, 11 families, and 5 orders. The dominant species of larval fish were Engraulis japonicus, Leiognathus nuchalis, and Konosirus punctatus. These three species accounted for 70% of the total number of individuals collected. The diversity index of the larval fishes was the highest in summer (H'=1.78) and the lowest in winter (H'=1.34). The economically important species in this area were Engraulis japonicus, Konosirus punctatus, Sebastes schlegelii, Cynoglossus joyneri and Stephanolepis cirrhifer.

  • Four sites and one site were used to analyze fish diversity at the water systems of the Sineun reservoir and the Jeonchon reservoir, respectively. The field experiments were conducted to test the density dependence that could lead to population regulation by artificial inferences and environmental changes. We examined the effects of environmental factors on fish densities using SMATR freeware. It was estimated to be reduced to the density effect at four sites in 2012. Shannon-Weaver indices of the diversity (H’) of the Sineun reservoir were similar to those of the Jeonchon reservoir. Species diversity was in a range of 0.645 to 2.105. The H’ value of the upper region was higher than those of middle and low regions were, and values of richness were lower in downstream than upstream. Using the maximum likelihood solution for the removal estimators of two low regions of the river stations, the estimated migration probabilities from the resident fish to the migrated fish for five species (Cyprinus cuvieri, Carassius auratus, Pseudorasbora parva, Misgurnus mizolepis, and Oryzias latipes) had a mean of 0.623. Especially, migration probabilities from the Jeonchon reservoir to the Sineun reservoir for five species were high (a mean of 0.681). The period of migration was suggested to be about one month because of short geographical distances (50 m). We found no significant difference between the three categories in the distribution of the other four species, indicating the species probability was similar among stations.

  • The aim of this study was to isolate a potential multifunctional biocontrol agent from bacteria for control of multiple plant diseases as an alternative to fungicides. A total of 201 strains were isolated from soil undamaged by repeated cultivation in Sunchang and their ability to produce antibiotics, siderophores and extracellular enzymes such as protease, cellulase and amylase was investigated. Selected strain SCS3 produced cellulose, protease and amylase. This strain also produced siderophores and showed excellent antifungal activity against various phytopathogens. SCS3 was identified as Bacillus subtilis using 16S rRNA sequencing, and named Bacillus subtilis SCS3. Finally, physiological and biochemical characteristics of B. subtilis SCS3 were examined. From the results, B. subtilis SCS3 was found to be a useful multifunctional biocontrol agent against various phytopathogens.

  • Volatile flavor components from various edible portions of Commelina communis L. were collected by simultaneous steam distillation-extraction(SDE) method using diethyl ether as solvent. Essential oils were analyzed by gas chromatography(GC) and combined gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS). Eighty nine volatile flavor components, including 33 hydrocarbons, 4 aldehydes, 9 ketones, 23 alcohols, 6 esters, 10 acids and 4 miscellaneous ones were confirmed in whole samples. Twenty three components, including 14 hydrocarbons, 7 alcohols and 2 esters were confirmed in leaves. Six components, including 3 hydrocarbons and 3 alcohols were confirmed in stems, and 18 components, including 13 hydrocarbons, 1 ketone, 3 alcohols and 1 acid were confirmed in roots. The kinds and amounts of volatile flavor components revealed different patterns depending upon various edible portions. Relatively greater numbers of volatile flavor components were identified in leaves compared with other portions of this wild plant.
