This study was carried out to obtain some informations on the species composition and distribution pattern of Polychate community on the continental shelf and slope area in the East Sea. Fauna samples were collected from three sampling cruises in April of 1985, and April and October of 1987. Total 112 polychaete taxa included in 36 families were collected. Dominant species in the study area were Chaetozone setosa, Aglaophamus malmgreni, Ampharete arctica Terebellides horikoshii, Tharyx sp., and Magelona pacifica. Northern and cold water species were major contributors of polychaete communities in this study area. Dominant species showed their specific depth ranges from shelf area to upper slope and middle slope depth. The overall density was 300 indiv./m$\^$2/ and species richness was around 12 species/0.2m$\^$2/. Significant changes in mean polychaete density and species richness along depth gradient were found approximately at 600 m or deeper depth. Among physical factors, water depth, temperature and clay content, mean grain size were significantly correlated with the mean density of dominant species.
A survey of Hongryu-Dong and Chi-in district. Gaya National Park, was conducted using 40 sample sites of 500$m^2$ size. TWINSPAN classification confirmed a complex pattern of both local and geographical variation in the vegetation: Dry and wet community types. Within dry community types, two floristic assocation of Pinus densiflora were defined according to local variation. Within wet community types. two floristic association were defined according to altitude. Those associations can be further subdivided floristically into eight subassociation. The vegetation pattern presented by DCA ordination corresponds to one of TWINSPAN at the first two division. The DCA ordination was successful in separating Pinus densiflora from broad leaf forest. Ordination of samples produced arrangements reflectly environmental gradient of soil. The correlation between the first axe of DCA and soil moisture, soil acid, altitude, maximum species diversity and species diversity was significantly negative. The similarity index between each community was very low level.

This study was a survey of the Wonju stream in Wonju city from May 2015 to September 2016. A total of three sites were selected from the upstream area Gwanseol-dong to the downstream area Hojeo-myeon. Physicochemical analysis, aquatic insect changes, cluster analysis, functional group analysis, rarefaction curve, and statistical analysis were compared between 2004 and 2016. A total of 19 species (38.78%) in 2004 and 22 species (36.67%) in 2016 were analyzed, with the largest number belonging to ephemeroptera. The individual ratio ranged from 27,759.2 (ind. $m^{-2}$, 84.30%) in 2004 to 4,573.2 (ind. $m^{-2}$, 41.64%) in 2016, with the highest number involving diptera. As a result of the community analysis, significant differences were detected in the indices of dominance, diversity, evenness, and richness in 2004 and 2016 (p<0.05). Burrowers of the habitat orientation groups showed the greatest variation with an average of -68.00% (${\pm}2.15$) and the collector-gatherers of the functional feeding groups showed the highest variation of -40.12% (${\pm}1.77$). The rarefaction curve analysis suggested that the species was the poorest in the midstream regions in 2004 and 2016. Physical factors and water quality showed a significant correlation with diversity index, evenness index, and the number of individuals. MDS analysis of the similarity of upstream and downstream regions was high in 2004, and low in 2016. The differences were attributed to physicochemical changes such as increase in flow velocity due to improvement of small dams and changes in bottom structure.

Microalgae are a promising resource in energy and food production as they are cost-effective for biomass production and accumulate valuable biological resources. In this study, CO2 assimilation, biomass, and lipid production of 4 microalgal species (Chlorella vulgaris, Mychonastes homosphaera, Coelastrella sp., and Coelastrella vacuolata) were characterized at different CO2 concentrations ranging from 1% to 9%. Microscopic observation indicated that C. vulgaris was the smallest, followed by M. homosphaera, C. vacuolata, and Coelastrella sp. in order of size. C. vulgaris grew and consumed CO2 more rapidly than any other species. C. vulgaris exhibited a linear increase in CO2 assimilation (up to 9.62 mmol·day-1·l-1) as initial biomass increased, while the others did not (up to about 3 mmol·day-1·l-1). C. vulgaris, Coelastrella sp., and C. vacuolata showed a linear increase in the specific CO2 assimilation rate with CO2 concentration, whereas M. homosphaera did not. Moreover, C. vulgaris had a greater CO2 assimilation rate compared to those of the other species (14.6 vs. ≤ 11.9 mmol·day-1·l-1). Nile-red lipid analysis showed that lipid production per volume increased linearly with CO2 concentration in all species. However, C. vulgaris increased lipid production to 18 mg·l-1, compared to the 12 mg·l-1 produced by the other species. Thus, C. vulgaris exhibited higher biomass and lipid production rates with greater CO2 assimilation capacity than any other species.
The mushrooms collected at seven areas of Mt. Chiak in 2002 and 2003 were classified to analyse the distribution and species diversity. Frequency (number of mushroom : N), number of species (S), relative species density (RSD), similarity index (C), richness index (R1), variety index (V1), evenness index (E2), and dominance index(D1) were investigated. Total N and S was 143 and 84, respectively. The RSD was 0.179 ~ 0.226 of the 7 areas. The yearly C of the total area (0.213) was 8.2%. more higher than the average C of 7 areas (0.131). The order in the coefficient of variation (CV) of the indicator for 7 areas was N (10.5%) > D1 (9.2%) > V1 (8.9%) > S (8.5%) > R1 (7.4%) > E2 (2.2%). The average R1 of the 7 areas was 5.36 with the range from 4.85 to 6.01, and 16.72 for the total area. The average V1 of the 7 areas was 16.24 with the range from 14.44 to 18.66, and 68.82 for the total area. The average E2 of the 7 areas was 0.95 with the range from 0.926 to 0.982, and 0.819 for the total area. The average D1 of the 7 areas was 0.071 with the range from 0.055 to 0.073, and 0.081 for the total area. The correlation between N and 5 kinds of diversity indicator (S, R1, V1, E2, D) was not statistically significant, but the correlation between R1, E2 and D1 was statistically significant each other.
The purpose of this study was to conduct ecological health assessments by using the fish communities in the Manchurian trout habitat. Sampling was conducted twice in July and September 2018. In the survey, 1,119 individuals belonging to 16 species and seven families were collected. The dominant species by number was Rhynchocypris kumgangensis and the subdominant species was Zacco koreanus. Korean endemic species represented 73.33% at Geybang Stream and 76.92% at Naerin Stream. Community analysis revealed that the structure of the fish community was unstable by the dominance index 0.63 (±0.09)-0.97 (±0.01), the diversity index 1.63 (±0.23)-0.33 (±0.09), the evenness index 0.79 (±0.06)-0.24 (±0.07) and the richness index 0.67 (±0.14)-1.80(±0.16). According to the analysis of the tolerance guilds, the total individual number of sensitive species was higher than the intermediate and tolerant species. The insectivore species accounted for 65.09-98.56% of the total trophic guilds, which was the highest observed. The value of the QHEI (Qualitative habitat evaluation index) in the Brachymystax lenok tsinlingensis habitat was 119.5 (±0.5)-153.5 (±0.5), indicating an optimal-suboptimal condition. The FAI (Fish assessment index) stream health value was A to B in the study sites. Correlation analysis with FAI and various factors was conducted and a high correlation in QHEI, Brachymystax lenok tsinlingensis individuals, species, individuals, diversity, richness, sensitive species, carnivorous species, insectivorous species, and omnivorous species was found. The similarity analysis was divided into three groups from A to C, based on 56.9%.
This study was carried out to provide the preliminary data for study of zooplankton community structures and coastal pelagic ecosystem by understanding the seasonal change of zooplankton community depending on environmental factors at Dangdong bay in Tongyeong city. In this study, the environmental factors and the change of zooplankton community were analyzed for 2008 to 2011. In the results, a total of 80 species of zooplankton was sampled with a mean density of $1,599inds.m^{-3}$. The dominant species changed seasonally, and the most dominant species was Acartia steueri in winter and spring, Penilia avirostris in summer, and Evadne nordmanni in autumn. The Canonical Correspondence Analysis was conducted between the major dominant species and environmental factors. And for the environmental factors that effect the zooplankton community, the high correlation was observed with the water temperature, COD, DO and T-N, though there was slight difference among species. Therefore, more various research and environmental study are necessary to understand of planktonic ecosystem because the zooplankton community is affected by the interaction of both physical and biological factors.
The purpose of this study is to identify distribution patterns of hydrophytes in the Mokpo wetland in relation to the depth of water. Sample surveys were conducted based on plant species distribution status and water depths at 274 spots. This study also developed a detailed depth distribution map for Mokpo wetland, which was never done in any previous studies. Through this study, it was found that the average depth of the wetland was 77cm (${\pm}29cm$) and the maximal depth was 157cm. The outer edge was no deeper than 60cm and the center approximately 120~130cm in depth, forming a concave bowl-like shape. This research confirmed inhabitation of 6 types of submerged plants (Verticillate hydrilla, Vallisneria natans, Najas graminea, Potamogeton cripus, Ceratophyllum demersum, and Potamogeton brechtoldi), and three types of floating leaved plants (Euryale ferox, Hydrocharis dubia and Trapa japonica) in the surveyed areas of the wetland. The distribution of these hydrophytes showed a statistically significant difference (${\chi}^2=982.2$, df = 8, p < 0.01), which confirms the fact that distribution varies based on environmental conditions. The most frequently observed species was Trapa japonicas at 244 times, and it showed a distribution pattern by which coverage increased with greater depth, as was also seen in the case of Potamogeton cripus. Five species-Euryale ferox, Hydrocharis dubid, Verticillate hydrilla, Najas graminea, and Ceratophyllum demersum-showed a negative correlation to depth, by which coverage decreased with increasing depth. It has been shown that fundamentally, the distribution of hydrophytes based on depth is affected by ecological factors, but also reflects the environmental properties of Mokpo wetland.

A total of 95 broccoli (Brassica oleracea L. var. italica) accessions were evaluated for the identification of desulfo-glucosinolates and their content variation in the flower head using ultra performance liquid chromatography, to select the potentially functional broccoli breeding lines. The six individual desulfo-glucosinolates, including progoitrin, glucoraphanin, sinigrin, gluconapin, glucobrassicanapin, and glucobrassicin, were commonly identified, based on the chromatogram peak comparison with those of the nine individual glucosinolate standards. The total glucosinolate contents varied from 4.2 to $29.0{\mu}mol{\cdot}g^{-1}$ DW and the glucoraphanin (1.6 to $13.9{\mu}mol{\cdot}g^{-1}$ DW) was confirmed as a major constituent in the total glucosinolate profile among the six identified individual glucosinolate species, whereas the progoitrin, which was only detected in 13 accessions, showed accession-specific variation and negative correlation with glucoraphanin content. It was also revealed that the four major glucosinolates, such as glucobrassicanapin, glucoraphanin, glucobrassicin, and gluconapin, affected major content variation and showed higher positive inter-correlation. These results might be used for the selection of potential breeding materials as functional broccoli germplasm through the further evaluation on the stability and reproducibility of glucosinolate profile depending on environmental factors or cultural managements using the selected accessions.
This study was carried out to improve utility value as soybean genetic resources and to obtain basic information for color-soybean breeding. The 146 local color soybean lines collected in Kyongbuk province were investigated major agronomic characteristics. Seed coat-color showed seven different types which were black, white mottled on black, white mottled on brown, black saddle on green, green, raddish brown and brown. Major color types were black and green colors. The 90 percent of collected lines were purple in flower color. The 86 lines were green in color of cotyledonary part and 64 lines yellow. Great variations were observed in days to flowering and days from flowering to maturity, 51 to 81 days and 75 to 103 days, respectively. But days to maturity was 150 to 159 days and had smaller variation than days to flowering and days from flowering to maturity in all lines except those with white mottled on black (123 days). The 100 seed weight ranged below 10g to over 36g. Black seed color with green embryo seed was heavier seed weight than black seed color with yellow embryo seed. Seed shape of all collected lines was ellipsodial and average ratio of length: width: thickness of seed was 1:0.87:0.69. Positive correlation coeffieients were obtained among seed length, width, thickness and 100 seed weight.
