  • This thesis is a study of the printed books of Liudao Pushuo(六道普說), one of Mengshan(蒙山)'s works. Mengshan De-yi(德異) lived in the Song(宋) and Yuan(元) Dynasty and was a Buddhist monk of Linji Chan(臨濟宗). Liudao Pushuo exists only in Korea, and there is no copy in China. Liudao Pushuo is a summary of the preachings of Mengshan about the Ten dharma-worlds(十法界) which include the six realms(六道) and the four kinds of holy men(四聖). There are 22 printed books in Korea. This study analyzed their physical descriptions and structures. As a result, all the printed books have 'sajudanbyoun(四周單邊)' except one book that is 'julchopjang(折帖裝)' of 'Bulgapsa(佛甲寺)'. There are also ten books with 'Heukku(黑口) and naehyang heukumi(內向黑魚尾)'. This indicates that those were typical of the printing type of the early days of the Joseon(朝鮮) Dynasty. In addition, the books with 13 characters in one line(13字本) were common. All 22 printed books were published in the $15^{th}$ and 16th century. This study confirms that Liudao Pushuo was handed down in the Goryeo(高麗) from China and actively published in the 15th and 16th century. This shows that Mengshan's Seon(禪) had a significant effect on Buddhism in Korea.

  • Most studies on the vibration analysis of a beam-column with ends elastically restrained and various intermediate constraints have been based on the Euler beam theory, which is inadequate for beam-columns of low slenderness ratios. In this paper, analytical methods for vibration and dynamic sensitivity of a Timoshenko beam-column with ends elastically restrained and various intermediate constraints are presented. Firstly, an exact solution method is shown. Since the exact method requires considerable computational effort, a Rayleigh-Ritz analysis is also investigated. In the latter two kinds of trial functions are examined for comparisions : eigenfunctions of the base system(the system without intermediate constraints) and polynomials having properties corresponding to the eigenfunctions of the base system. The results of some numerical Investigations show that the Rayleigh-Ritz analysis using the characteristic polynomials is competitive with the exact solutions in accuracy, and that it is much more efficient in computations than using the eigenfunctions of the base system, especially in the dynamic sensitivity analysis. In addition, the prediction of the changes of natural frequencies due to the changes of design variables based on the first order sensitivity is in good agreements with that by the ordinary reanalysis as long as the changes of design variables are moderate.

  • The purpose of this research was to find out the characteristics of secluded cultural landscapes that were retained by Eyogye Cho Lyeo(漁溪 趙旅) as a recluse or a schola at the early time of Chosun dynasty through his poems, residential site and his successors' landscapes. The study sites were selected such as Wonbukgae(院北齋), Chamijeong(採薇亭), Gomaam (叩馬巖) and his graveyard. In order to do that, Wonbukgae, Chamijeong, Gomaam and his cemetery were selected as studying sites. Also researching methods were used by grasping the landscape elements through reading ancient books such as "Eyogyezip(漁溪集)", field-researching, analyzing characters of his secluded landscapes and interpreting his poem's meaning. This research found that: 1) After Danjong(端宗)'s dethronement, he returned to his home town and never come out to the world again. He wanted to keep fidelity to his king forever. 2) He was affected for his seclusion from many people who were Ryu Gyebun(柳桂芬), Bae Junghu(裵仲厚) as his classmates at Sunggyungwan(成均館). Also Won ho(元昊) and Kim Sisyub(金時習) as members of Sangyuksin(生六臣) affected him for sake of their seclusion. 3) The meaning of his seclusion expressed the notation of seclusion as a fisherman from his pen name as 'Yeogye'. Also this kind culture has very particular behavior such as concentration phenomenon of action, absolute eccentricity of seclusion, tourism of nature and deep knoledge of feng shui, strong persistence of seclusion and confucian practical attitude of filial behavior. 4) The secluded cultural landscape is divided to four regions. They have two types of landscape such as secluded cultural landscape of his lifetime and landscape transmission of his posterity and scholars. 5) The interpretation of his poems and their aesthetic analysis found two characters. His poems were expressed by landscape substance like plants, natural and man-made elements. Their theme was confucian, peaceful and faithful seclusion.

  • This study attempted to examine the loving pigeon culture practiced in traditional gardens and to illuminate the aspect of pigeons as a landscape animal material. In order to understand the culture of enjoying old garden through pigeons, the contents were analyzed for the translated version of the old literatures and paintings. Pigeons have been used as Jeonseo-gu(傳書鳩) and also for medicinal purposes and food. Pigeons have various symbolic meanings such as abundance, hospitality, and longevity. From the Goryeo Dynasty to the early Joseon Dynasty, pigeons were raised in the palace and private garden. In the late Joseon Dynasty, temporary trend of ornamental pigeon culture occurred. Pigeons were synesthesia materials that enriched the forest. Various beautiful pigeons created a variable landscape of the primeval forest as a moving landscape material. The bell sounds that appear differently depending on the pigeon's movement led to a rich auditory experience of the landscape. The pigeon house was an ornamental element that enriched the old garden along with the pigeon. The owners of garden were involved in gardening through the act of buying a pigeon house and placing it in the garden or making a pigeon house themselves. In addition, the writers planted plum trees, peach trees, apricot trees, and hawthorn trees as a symbol of spring and a source of food for pigeons, and expressed them in poems and paintings. This study has a limitation in that the translation of the old text was used as an analysis data. The follow-up studies on specific cases of raising pigeons in the old garden, in modern and contemporary landscape spaces are urged.

  • PCB-based deployable solar panel is mainly used for CubeSat due to its lightweight and easy of electrical connection. However, as the size of solar panel increases, there is a limit to ensuring the structural safety of solar cells due to excessive dynamic displacement under launch vibration environment. In previous mechanical designs, for the minimization of dynamic deflection, panel stiffness is increased by applying additional stiffeners made of various materials such as aluminum or composite. However, it could have disadvantages for CubeSat design requirements due to limited mass and volumes. In this study, a high-damping 6U solar panel was proposed. It had superior damping characteristic with a multi-layered stiffener laminated with viscoelastic acrylic tapes. Basic characteristics of this solar panel were measured through free-vibration tests. Design effectiveness of the solar panel was validated through qualification-level launch vibration test. Based on test results, vibration characteristics of a typical PCB solar panel and the high-damping laminated solar panel were predicted and a comparative analysis was performed.

  • The Jucheon-Pyeongchang area in the northwestern Taebaeksan Zone of the Okcheon fold-thrust belt preserved several thrust faults placing the Precambrian basement granite gneisses of the Gyeonggi Massif on top of the Early Paleozoic Joseon Supergroup and the age-unknown Bangrim Group. Especially, the thrust faults in the study area show the closed-loop patterns on the map view, showing older allochthonous strata surrounded by younger autochthonous or para-autochthonous strata. These basement-involved thrusts including Klippes will provide important information on the hinterland portion of the fold-thrust belt. For defining Klippe geometry in the thrust fault terrains of the Jucheon-Pyeongchang area by older on younger relationship, the stratigraphic position of the age-unknown Bangrim Group should be determined. The Middle Cambrian maximum depositional age by the detrital zircon SHRIMP U-Pb method from this study, together with field relations and previous research results suggest that the Bangrim Group overlies the Precambrian basement rocks by nonconformity and underlies the Cambrian Yangdeok Group (Jangsan and Myobong formations). The structural geometric interpretation of the Pyeongchang area based on newly defined stratigraphy indicates that the Wungyori and Barngrim thrusts are the same folded thrust, and can be interpreted as a Klippe, having Precambrian hanging wall granite gneisses surrounded by younger Cambrian strata of the Joseon Supergroup and the Bangrim Group. Further detailed structural studies on the Jucheon-Pyeongchang area can give crucial insights into the basement-involved deformation during the structural evolution of the Okcheon Belt.

  • Shinyemi skarn deposits occur as Fe-Mo skarn type and Pb-Zn-Cu hydrothermal replacement type along the contact between Cretaceous Shinyemi granitoids and Cambro-Ordovician mixed limestone and dolostone sequence of the Choseon Supergroup. In the lower part of Western Shinyemi ore body two stages of skarn formation have been observed: the early, stage I (magnesian) skarn with Fe mineralization and the late, stage II(calcic) skarn with Mo mineralization. The stage I skarn spatially is overprinted by stage II skarn. The stage I skarn is predominantly composed of olivine, magnetite and diopside whereas, the stage II skarn is dominated by hedenbergite and garnet. The skarnification process occurred in two stages, both prograde and retrograde for stage I and stage II skarns. In stage I, the prograde skarns, mainly composed of anhydrous silicate minerals, were formed at relatively higher temperatures (about $400\;to\;550^{\circ}C$) under low $CO_{2}$ fugacity ($X_{CO2}<0.1$) conditions. On the other hand, the retrograde skarns that consisted of hydrous minerals were formed at lower temperatures (about $300\;to\;400^{\circ}C$).

  • The performance of fuel cell is enhanced with increasing reaction surface. Narrow flow channels in flow plate cause increased pumping power. Therefore it is very important to consider the pressure drops in the flow channel of fuel cell. Previous research for pressure drop for micro channel of fuel cell was focused on effects of various configuration of flow channel without electrochemical reaction. It is very important to know pressure loss of micro flow channel with electrochemical reaction because fluid density in micro channel is changed due to chemical reaction. In this paper, it is investigated that the pressure drops in micro channel of various geometries at anode and cathode with electrochemical reaction and compared them to friction coefficient (fRe), velocity, pressure losses for corresponding non reacting flow channel. The results show that friction factors for cold flow channel could be used for parallel and bended flow channel for flow channel design of fuel cell. In the other hand, pressure drop for serpentine flow channel is the lowest among flow channels due to bypass flow across gas diffusion layer under reacting flow condition although its pressure drop is highest for cold flow condition.

  • Design sensitivity analysis and topology design optimization for a piezoelectric crystal resonator are developed. The piezoelectric crystal resonator is deformed mechanically when subjected to electric charge on the electrodes, or vice versa. The Mindlin plate theory with higher-order interpolations along thickness direction is employed for analyzing the thickness-shear vibrations of the crystal resonator. Thin electrode plates are masked on the top and bottom layers of the crystal plate in order to enforce to vibrate it or detect electric signals. Although the electrode is very thin, its weight and shape could change the performance of the resonators. Thus, the design variables are the bulk material densities corresponding to the mass of masking electrode plates. An optimization problem is formulated to find the optimal topology of electrodes, maximizing the thickness-shear contribution of strain energy at the desired motion and restricting the allowable volume and area of masking plates. The necessary design gradients for the thickness-shear frequency(eigenvalue) and the corresponding mode shape(eigenvector) are computed very efficiently and accurately using the analytical design sensitivity analysis method using the eigenvector expansion concept. Through some demonstrative numerical examples, the design sensitivity analysis method is verified to be very efficient and accurate by comparing with the finite difference method. It is also observed that the optimal electrode design yields an improved mode shape and thickness-shear energy.
