  • Collimator has important functions with control primary X-ray that decrease radiation exposure dose for patients and reduce scatter ray and make better quality of image. But there are no regulations for X-ray mammography device of collimator, so widely used device adopt rectangularly controlled collimator. Though digital X-ray mammography device expand supply recently, rectangularly controlled collimator of film/screen mode still used. After searching for real condition of beam field with digital mammography, we made a multi-leaf collimator which is able to adjust the beam field in accordance with size and shape of breast, and we measuring up the transitions of image quality, average glandular dose(AGD) and, Dose area product(DAP). There are no significant differences between rectangularly controlled collimator and multi-leaf collimator, and DAP value decreased by 50.72%. As conclusion, there needs to expand the use of multi-leaf collimator for optimum adoption of beam field in digital mammography, and also need to develop an automatic regulation of beam field for reduce of exposure dose to patients.

  • In this paper we have studied an optical system according to the aperture position of an off-axis TMA telescope for satellites. An off-axis TMA telescope should have high resolution and wide field of view (FOV). In addition, the optical system should have a wide tolerance range, because it is structurally located off-axis and is difficult to assemble. However, there are differences in performance and sensitivity according to the aperture-stop position, so it is important to select a suitable aperture-stop position. Therefore, in this paper we have designed each off-axis TMA telescope according to the aperture-stop position, and have analyzed the performance and sensitivity to suggest a suitable aperture-stop position.

  • We have evaluated the effects of experimental factors on transmitted electron beam intensities for quantitative analysis in electron tomography. For the correct application of Beer's law in electron tomography, the transmitted beam intensity should reflect the net effect of mass properties on beam path. So, the any other effects of the objective aperture and the specimen holder on beam path should be removed. The cut-off effects of objective aperture were examined using Quanti-foil holey carbon film and a transmission electron microscope operated at 120 kV. The transmitted beam intensities with $30{\mu}m$ objective aperture dropped about 16.7% compared to electron beam intensities without the objective aperture. Also, the additional losses of about 14.2% at high tilt angles were occurred by cut-off effects of the objective apertures. For the precise quantitative analysis in electron tomography, the effect of the objective aperture on transmitted electron beam intensities should be considered. It is desirable that 2-D tilt series images are obtained without the objective aperture for correct application of Bee's law.

  • This paper presents a superresolution demosaicing technique that can restore high-resolution color image from differently blurred low resolution images in Bayer domain. The proposed superresolution demosaicing algorithm uses an aperture mask wheel to get differently blurred low resolution images, so we just need to estimate point spread function at each frame. In addition, it does not require image registration because there is no translational motion between low resolution images. By using a rotatable aperture mask wheel, consecutive captured images provide sufficiently exclusive information for superresolution. Therefore, the proposed method can reduce the registration error between the low-resolution image as well as the calculation amount for superresolution restoration. The existing lens system of the camera can be extended to obtain a superresolution image by only adding an rotatable aperture mask wheels. Finally, in order to verify the performance of the proposed system, experimental results are performed. The proposed method showed the significant improvements in the sense of spatial and color resolution.

  • A hemiconfocal resonator equipped with an intra-cavity adjustable aperture and a beam splitter has been studied experimentally to achieve a controlled low beam divergence operation in a vapor laser system. The dependences of output characteristics both on the aperture diameter and on the angle of beam splitter have been investigated. By adjusting the aperture diameter from 14mm to 2mm to 2mm, we were able to reduce the beam divergence from 3.1 mrad to 0.25 mrad and achieved the 8-times increase in the far-field power density.

  • To design a wide-field two-mirror system, the system must feature an off-axial field, to avoid ray obstruction and field screening by the secondary mirror. The off-axial aberrations of the system cannot be corrected sufficiently, though, because there are only a few design parameters. The present study designs an improved off-axial-field two-mirror system using a decentered aperture stop.

  • In this paper, we present a novel digital multifocusing approach using adaptive region-based histogram equalization for the multiple color-filter aperture (MCA) system with insufficient amount of incoming light. From the image acquired by the MCA system, we can estimate the depth information of objects at different distances by measuring the amount of misalignment among the RGB color planes. The estimated depth information is used to obtain multifocused images together with the process of the region-of-interests (ROIs) classification, registration, and fusion. However, the MCA system results in the low-exposure problem because of the limited size of the apertures. For overcoming this problem, we propose adaptive region-based histogram equalization. Based on the experimental results, the proposed algorithm is proved to be able to obtain in-focused images under the low light level environment.

  • This paper presents a superresolution restoration technique that can restore high-resolution images from differently blurred low resolution images rather than using the motion information between low-resolution images. In order to restore the super-resolution image the rotatable aperture mask lens system is proposed. The proposed technique does not need to estimate point spread function at each frame. In addition, it does not require image registration because there is no global translational motion between low resolution images. By using a rotatable rectangular aperture, two consecutive captured images provide sufficiently exclusive information for superresolution. Therefore, the proposed method can reduce the registration error between the low-resolution image as well as the calculation amount for superresolution restoration. The existing lens system of the camera can be extended to obtain a superresolution image by only adding an rotatable rectangular aperture mask. Finally, in order to verify the performance of the proposed system, experimental results are performed. By comparing with the existing superresolution methods, the proposed method showed the significant improvements in the sense of spatial resolution.
