Trend and Prospect of Thin Film Processing Technology (박막제조 기술의 동향과 전망)

  • The technique of producing thin film plays a crucial role in modern science and technology as well as in industrial purposes. Numerous efforts have been made to get high quality thin film through surface treatment of materials. PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) and CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) are two of the most popular deposition techniques used in both scientific study and industrial use. It is well known that the film deposited by PVD and CVD commonly possesses a columnar microstructure which affects many film properties. In recent years, various types of deposition sources which feature high material uses and excellent film properties have been developed. Electromagnetic levitation source appeared as an alternative deposition source to realize high deposition rate for industrial use. Complex film structures such as nano multilayer and multi-components have been prepared to achieve better film properties. Glancing angle deposition (GLAD) has also been developed as a technique to engineer the columnar structure of thin films on the micro- and nanoscale. In this paper, the trends and major issues of thin film technology based on PVD and CVD have been discussed together with the prospect of thin film technology.

A Systematic Literature Review of Manufacturing Companies' Innovation Strategies in Korea (한국의 제조기업 혁신전략에 대한 체계적 문헌 연구)

  • When discussing a company's technology management, manufacturing companies' innovation strategy is vital because it is connected to each company's competitive advantage in various ways, such as technology acquisition, R&D, and product innovation. The research on manufacturing companies' innovation strategies has been studied in various ways, such as performance and resources for innovation; however, very little research has been done to synthesize existing research outcomes. In this study, we conduct a systematic literature review of 51 articles related to manufacturing companies' innovation strategies. By doing so, we synthesized the results of extant studies based on three perspectives: the research target, the research focus, and the types of innovation strategies. In addition, I derived the unique properties of the research on manufacturing companies' innovation strategies. The analysis indicated that Korea's research on manufacturing companies' innovation strategies had been unequally distributed. Based on this, we suggested research agendas for future research on manufacturing companies' innovation strategies.

Production of Fine Metal Oxide Particles in Supercritical Water (초임계수를 이용한 금속산화물 미세입자 제조)

  • The production of fine metal oxide particles in supercritical water has been studied. Cobalt nitrate solution and manganese nitrate solution have been selected as model solutions for metal salt aqueous solution and the particles of cobalt oxide and manganese oxide have been produced. It was observed that the production of fine metal oxide particles in supercritical water was feasible and the dehydration rate was remarkably high in supercritical water. In spite of a short residence time (3~100 seconds), fine particles ($0.5{\sim}2{\mu}m$) have been produced. In the supercritical water process, the temperature of mixer had a significant effect on particle size and size distribution. It was observed that a change in reaction temperature resulted in the control of particle size.

Implementation of Paper Cutting Defect Detection System Based on Local Binary Pattern Analysis (국부 이진 패턴 분석에 기초한 지절 결함 검출 시스템 구현)

  • Paper manufacturing industries have huge facilities with automatic equipments. Especially, in order to improve the efficiency of the paper manufacturing processes, it is necessary to detect the paper cutting defect effectively and to classify the causes correctly. In this paper, we review the problems of web monitoring system and web inspection system that have been traditionally used in industries for defect detection. Then we propose a novel paper cutting defect detection method based on the local binary pattern analysis and its implementation to mitigate the practical problems in industry environment. The proposed algorithm classifies the defects into edge-type and region-type and then it is shown that the proposed system works stably on the real paper cutting defect detection system.

The Effects of R&D Investment on Managerial Performance by Manufacturing Sector : Focused on Sales and Patent (제조 산업별 연구개발 투자가 경영성과에 미치는 영향 : 매출액과 특허를 중심으로)

  • This study is designed to analyze the status of R&D investment and managerial performance related to the domestic manufacturing. To accomplish the purpose of the study, We have regression analyzed 6,054 companies based on the data of 'Business Activity Survey' disclosed by Statistics Korea. Result of the study are as follows. First, electronics, IT, and auto industry account for 25.6% of the country's manufacturing companies and take up 75.8% of the total R&D funding for the manufacturing industry. Second, R&D funding exercises positive influence on sales and the number of registered patents, which last exerts positive influence on sales.

  • For the purpose of development of an effective process for purified CHMI particles, a series of experimental researches on the synthesis of CHMI from CHMAIE, purification and precipitation of CHMI were preformed. It is turned out that n-heptane reflux imidation is more beneficial than toluene put-out imidation not only to the synthesis but to the precipitation of CHMI. By washing the synthetic CHMI with cold n-heptane twice, purified CHMI with 99.7% purity could be obtained at the cost of 11.7% weight loss. And CMHI particles were effectively prepared by spouting molten CHMI through the spiral nozzle with 3 mm diameter under the pressure of $1.5{\sim}2.0kg/cm^2$.

  • Mayonnaise has probability of fatness and adult disease because main components of it contain high calorie. We prepared dietary mayonnaise used for corn starch paste. And also, dietary mayonnaise with hot taste was manufactured by using both O.R.capsicum and O.R.paprika. It was observed that the calorie of general mayonnaise was 748 Kcal and the calorie of dietary mayonnaise used for starch was 237∼240 Kcal. The dietary effect was certified by animal experiment.

  • Zipper manufacturing belongs to the small and medium industry. And it requires very accurate process and perfect quality control. In addition it is necessary to assure customers zipper qualify to explore new market. TQC as well as integration of existing quality control techniques for accurate and perfect processing should be implemented to assure product quality. To implement TQC zipper firms should invest in education programs for employees. Y zipper firm has succeeded in implementing the education program for TQC and Quality Circle and achieved the perfect quality control and quality assurance of products.

  • Among the Covid-19 vaccine platforms, mRNA-platform vaccines are summarized qualitatively in this paper. Manufacturing mRNA vaccines consist of serial processes; the preparation process of DNA template, the transcription of mRNA, nanoemulsion process, and the fill and finish unit combined with formulation stages. It is noticeable that major players are collaborated for producing mRNA vaccines. In particular, the nanoemulsion process is recognized to the key process requiring formulated lipid materials to protect modified mRNA until they arrive in intracellular cytosol. It is known that the nanoemulsion process adapts well-designed microfluidic devices. We expect that the nanoemulsion process will stimulate pharmaceutical industries to develop diverse applications.

Comparison of Quality Characteristics and Antioxidative Activities of Cookies Containing Blueberry Powder and Different Types of Egg Yolk (액란과 생란의 난황으로 제조한 블루베리 쿠키의 품질특성과 항산화능 비교)

  • We evaluated the quality characteristics and antioxidative activities of cookies containing different types of egg yolk (LEY, Liquid Egg Yolk; FEY, Fresh Egg Yolk) and percentages of blueberry powder (5, 10, and 15%). As the amount of blueberry powder increased, the levels of antioxidants based on ABTS and DPPH radical scavenging activities increased in general. Within the 15% group, contents of polyphenols and flavonoids were higher in the FEY group, whereas content of anthocyanins was higher in the LEY group. Measurement of ABTS radical scavenging activity showed that the FEY group had a higher value within the 10% group, whereas the LEY group scored higher within the 15% group. Comparison of sensory properties showed no significant difference between the two egg yolk types. If commercialized, manufacturing cookies with FEY or LEY will not make a significant difference. Regardless, 15% blueberry powder would be the most appropriate, as it scored the highest in terms of antioxidant activity and sensory characteristics.
