Text-mining Techniques for Metabolic Pathway Reconstruction (대사경로 재구축을 위한 텍스트 마이닝 기법)

  • Metabolic pathway is a series of chemical reactions occuning within a cell and can be used for drug development and understanding of life phenomenon. Many biologists are trying to extract metabolic pathway information from huge literatures for their metabolic-circuit regulation study. We propose a text-mining technique based on the keyword and pattern. Proposed technique utilizes a web robot to collect huge papers and stores them into a local database. We use gene ontology to increase compound recognition rate and NCBI Tokenizer library to recognize useful information without compound destruction. Furthermore, we obtain useful sentence patterns representing metabolic pathway from papers and KEGG database. We have extracted 66 patterns in 20,000 documents for Glycosphingolipid species from KEGG, a representative metabolic database. We verify our system for nineteen compounds in Glycosphingolipid species. The result shows that the recall is 95.1%, the precision 96.3%, and the processing time 15 seconds. Proposed text mining system is expected to be used for metabolic pathway reconstruction.

Feasibility of Pyrophyllite Ceramic Membrane for Wastewater Treatment and Membrane Fouling (국내산 납석기반 세라믹 멤브레인 수처리 적용 가능성 평가 및 파울링 현상관찰)

  • Performance of pyrophyllite-based ceramic membranes newly developed were investigated. Membrane fouling caused by microbial suspensions taken from a full-scaled MBR system at domestic wastewater treatment plant was observed at different airflow rate and distance between each membrane. For the pyrophyllite support, pore size was about $1.0{\mu}m$, but surface coating with $Al_2O_3$ solution decreased the pore size with the reduction of the pure water permeability. With the MLSS taken from the full-scaled MBR system (6 g/L), the fouling rate was decreased by increasing airflow rate under $20L/m^2{\cdot}hr$ of setpoint flux. However, the effectiveness of the airflow rate on the fouling control depends strongly upon the gap between each membrane. At fixed airflow rate, the fouling rate was decreased by increasing the gap between each pyrophyllite membrane. Nevertheless, further increasing the membrane distance from 3.5 to 5.4 cm resulted in higher fouling rate. Similar result was observed with the $Al_2O_3$ coated-pyrophyllite membrane. Nevertheless, the fouling rate was lower with the coated membrane than that observed with the uncoated pyrophyllite support. Regardless of surface coating, the suspended solids were removed almost completely and the surface coating on the pyrophyllite support improved organic rejection with PEG solution (MW : 8000 kDa) tested.

Bioactive Foam Reactors for the Enhanced Biological Degradation of Toluene (계면활성제 거품을 이용한 미생물반응기에서의 기체상 톨루엔 분해)

  • Biofilters packed with various materials have emerged as a sustainable technology for the treatment of volatile organic compounds (VOCs); however, problems including low performance and clogging are commonly encountered. Recently, a bioactive foam reactor (BFR) using surfactants has been suggested to ensure efficient and stable VOCs removal performance. This study was mainly conducted to investigate the feasibility of BFRs using toluene as a model compound. Prior to bioreactor studies, a series of bottle tests were used to select a suitable surfactant for the BFR application. Experimental results of the batch bottle tests indicated that TritonX-100 was the most appropriate one among the surfactants tested, since it showed a minimal effect on the toluene biodegradation rate while the other surfactants lowered the toluene biodegradation rate significantly. Using the selected surfactant, the BFR performance was determined by changing operating parameters including gas residence time and toluene loading. As the gas residence time increased from 0.5 minutes to 2 minutes, the toluene removal efficiency increased from approximately 50% to 80%. In addition, an increase of the toluene loading from $38\;g/m^3/hr$ to $454\;g/m^3/hr$ resulted in a decrease of toluene removal efficiency from approximately 70% to 20%. The BFR had a maximum elimination capacity of $108\;g/m^3/hr$ for toluene, which was much higher than those generally reported in the literature. The high toluene-elimination performance indicates that the BFR be a potential alternative to the conventional, packed-type biofilters. However, the limitation of toluene solubilization and foam stability at either high or low gas flow rate are still problems to be challenged.

  • In diffusion process exhaust line during semiconductor manufacturing process, In order to improve the transportation efficiency in the piping by removing "The reaction by-product, $ZrO_2$ and The unreacted material, TEMAZ, TMA, $O_3$, etc" and "Powder being deposited", the piping temperature was raised to $80^{\circ}C$ or more by using the heater jacket, and the bellows at the rear end of the vacuum pump ruptured. So conducted a case study and try to prevent the similar accidents from occurring through case studies. The causes of the accident were analyzed as follows: the inflow of outside air due to the generation of a gap on the suction side of the vacuum pump and heating the pipe with the heater jacket resulted in the overpressure in the pipe due to the volumetric expansion of the gas generated by decomposition of the unreacted TEMAZ, It can be assumed that the most vulnerable bellows of the piping has been ruptured. In order to prevent such accidents, This study is aimed to identify the cause of pipeline rupture accident and to establish safety measures for the prevention of similar accidents by evaluating physical hazards of TEMAZ, which is assumed to be the cause of pipe rupture accident.

A Study on Desalination Methods for Application of Outdoor Iron Artefacts (옥외 철제문화재 적용을 위한 탈염처리 방법 연구)

  • Outdoor iron artefacts are easily corroded by salts, especially $Cl^-$ion, from environmental pollutants and acid rain because of their location, so that they need conservational treatments such as stabilization. However the conservation of outdoor iron artefacts are limited to be consolidated for the present and there are a few the studies for the desalinization. The general desalinization method is that objects are immersed in reagent such as alkaline corrosion inhibiting solutions targeting on buried iron artefacts, thus they are not available for outdoor iron artefacts. In this study, concerning those difficulties, the different desalting method is experimented that materials soaked in alkaline solutions attach to objects and they are packed by waterproof to avoid evaporation. This paper experiment burial iron artefacts at first in order to fine out an adaptable method for outdoor iron artefacts. The soaking materials are Korean traditional paper, gauze, cotton wipers, spill pads and the desalting regent is NaOH 0.1M. Additionally the exiting desalinization method which is to immerse objects in solution is performed to compare. The analyses are microscopes, SEM-EDS, X-ray diffraction, pH meter and Ion chromatography. The result is that spill pads show the best desalting effect out of other materials similar to immersing desalting method.

A Study on the Effectiveness of Remanufacturing Technology for the Catalyzed Diesel Particulate Filter-trap(DPF) Deactivated by Diesel Exhaust Gas (촉매가 담지된 사용후 경유차 매연저감장치 DPF의 재제조 효과에 관한연구)

  • The deactivated catalyzed diesel particulate filter-trap (DPF) was remanufactured by ultrasonic wave treatment with various prepared solutions, followed by active component re-impregnation, and the emission control performance and surface properties of remanufactured DPF were studied at various remanufacturing conditions. The proper ultrasonic wave cleaning time at various prepared solutions and optimal re-impregnation amounts of active component for the best emission control performance of DPF were investigated and its performance tests were also carried out with various temperatures for the conversions of CO, THC (total hydrocarbon) and PM (particulate matter) by catalytic reaction test unit using bypass gas from the diesel engine dynamo system. It was found that the emission control performance of DPF remanufactured with the high-temperature air washing, ultrasonic wave cleaning at acid/base solutions and active component re-impregnation method was recovered to 95% level of its activity compared to that of the fresh DPF, which was caused by removing the deactivating materials from the surface of the DPF, through the analyses of performance test and their surface characterization by Optical microscope, EDX, ICP, TGA, and porosimeter.

  • 지금까지 우리나라에서는 도시하수, 공장폐수 등의 점오염원에 국한하여 중점적으로 수질관리를 실행하여 부분적으로 효과를 얻을 수 있었으나, 하천과 호소의 수질은 크게 향상되지 않고 있다. 이는 급속한 도시화와 산업발달로 토지개발이 가속화되고 대지, 도로, 주차장 등 불투수층 면적이 늘어남에 따라 비점오염원에 의한 하천, 호소의 수질영향도가 커지고 있기 때문이다. 인구증가로 인해 물 사용량 뿐만 아니라 이에 따라 배출되는 오염원의 종류 및 오염부하량 역시 함께 증가하고 있다. 장래의 수질관리 성공여부는 비점오염원의 효율적인 관리여부가 큰 변수로 작용할 것으로 본다. 따라서 공공수역의 수질관리를 위해서는 토지이용과 지역특성을 고려한 비점오염원 부하량의 합리적인 조사, 오염 부하량 절감을 위한 관리기술의 개발, 비점오염원 관리정책의 개발 및 수질모형을 이용한 정확한 수질예측 등이 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 공간정보를 바탕으로 한 낙동강 유역에서의 비점오염원 정량화 분석을 수행하고자 한다. 우선 대상유역으로 낙본 G유역을 선정하여 이에 대한 조사를 통해 점오염원의 실측자료를 구축하고 이를 HSPF의 입력하여 모의를 수행하여 대상유역에 대한 실측치를 이용해 모형의 보정과 검증을 수행한다. 이러한 과정을 통해 도출된 결과는 대상유역의 총 오염량을 의미한다. 따라서 위의 과정에서 도출된 매개변수를 이용하고, 점오염원을 제거한 뒤 모의를 재수행하여 나온 결과가 대상유역의 비점오염원의 양이라 판단하였다. 모의 결과 대상유역인 낙본 G유역에서 약 39% 정도의 비점오염원 비율을 보였다. 그러나 수질 및 유량 관측치를 지금까지는 국립환경과학원 낙동강물환경연구소 유량측정데이타를 사용하고 있는데 이 자료는 8일 이상 간헐적으로 측정이 수행되고 있다. 따라서 검 보정 대상이 되는 실측치의 자료의 부족과 부정확한 유역이 있음이 한계점으로 작용한다. 그러므로 추후의 신경망 모형이나 기타 실측치 보간에 있어서의 신뢰도를 높이는 기법 개발이나 측정제도의 보편적인 기술의 증대도 앞으로의 모델링에 있어서 중요할 것으로 판단된다. 또한 유역수질모형의 모델링 과정에서 좀 더 신뢰도 높은 측정자료와 그 측정자료를 활용하여 PEST 보정기법을 적용한다면 더욱 정확한 예측이 이루어질 수 있을 것이며, 본 연구에서의 평가방법을 바탕으로 유역수질모델링이 이루어진다면 보다 더 정확성 높은 비점오염원 정량화와 수질 예측이 수행될 수 있을 것이며 더 나아가 오염총량제의 수행에 효과적으로 적용될 것으로 판단된다.

  • 총인처리시설에서는 응집제를 주입하여 인이나 오염물질을 침전시켜 처리하고 있으며 PAC(poly aluminum chloride)나 $FeCl_3$, $Al_2(SO_4)_3$, 등 다양한 종류의 응집제가 사용되어지고 있다. 하지만 기존에 사용되어 지고 있는 알루미늄계열의 응집제는 처리수에 잔류이온이 존재하게 되어 인체에 축적돼 알츠하이머 병 등 신체질환을 유발할 수 있는 단점이 있다. 따라서 이러한 단점을 사전에 예방하기 위해 $TiCl_4$와 같은 티타늄계열 응집제에 대한 연구가 진행되고 있다. $TiCl_4$ 응집제는 인 제거에 효과적으로 적용할 수 있으며 수중에 잔류이온을 유발하지 않으며 Ti이온은 치과임플란트나 의료장비로 사용될 만큼 인체에 무해하다고 알려져 있다. 응집제 사용에 따라 생성된 응집슬러지의 처리방안에 있어서 기존 응집제의 경우 생성된 슬러지의 대부분은 하수슬러지 위탁처리업체를 통해 소각 및 매립, 재활용 되고 있으나, $TiCl_4$를 응집제로 사용할 경우 생성된 슬러지를 인발하여 건조 및 소성을 통해 이산화티타늄으로 재활용할 수 있어 슬러지를 친환경적으로 처리가 가능해 기존 슬러지 처리방안의 경제적, 환경적 부담을 줄일 수 있는 장점이 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 $TiCl_4$를 하수처리장 방류수에 주입하여 수중의 총인(T-P)을 처리한 후 생성된 슬러지를 인발하여 건조와 소성과정을 거쳐 이산화티타늄을 제조하였다. 방류수를 취수해 2.5mg/L의 초기 총인 농도를 가진 원수를 제조하였으며 제조된 원수에 $TiCl_4$를 0.6mL 주입하였을 때 99.93%의 총인제거효율을 얻을 수 있었다. 응집 실험 후 생성된 슬러지를 인발하여 건조 후 $300{\sim}1000^{\circ}C$의 각각 다른 온도조건에서 소성하여 이산화티타늄을 제조하였으며, SEM과 XRD를 통해 제조된 이산화티타늄의 표면특성과 결정성 분석을 실시하였다. 제조된 이산화티타늄은 $500{\sim}800^{\circ}C$에서는 아나타제, $900{\sim}1000^{\circ}C$에서는 루타일 결정구조가 나타났다. 또한, $TiCl_4$ 주입량에 따른 이산화티타늄의 최종 생산량과 제조 시 사용되는 건조로 및 소성로의 경제적 비용 등을 고려하여 이산화티타늄 1Ton을 제조하기 위해 필요한 단가를 산출하였다. 본 연구에서 제조된 이산화티타늄 1kg의 생산단가는 약 5,400원으로 나타났으며, 가장 많이 사용되는 P-25 광촉매 보다 저렴한 가격으로 제조 및 판매를 기대할 수 있다. 따라서 하수처리장에 적용 시 기존 응집제 보다 비싼 $TiCl_4$ 비용을 보완하고 친환경적인 슬러지 처리로 제조된 이산화티타늄의 유통 및 현장적용을 통해 경제적, 환경적으로 우수하다고 판단된다.

The Effect of Hydraulic Retention Time on The Power Density in a Horizontal Flow Microbial Fuel Cell (수평 흐름형 미생물 연료전지에서 수리학적 체류시간이 전력수율에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of hydraulic retention time(HRT) on the power density in a horizontal flow microbial fuel cell(MFC) reactor. When HRTs were 15min, 30min, 60min and 180min, maximum power densities were $24.7mW/m^2$, $27.3mW/m^2$, $22.8mW/m^2$ and $17.2mW/m^2$, respectively. The highest power density was obtained at HRT of 30min. It was 59% improvement when compared to the power density at an HRT of 180min. When HRT was increased, COD removal rate increased whereas the coulombic efficiency remained constant. The result shows that the optimal performance of the horizontal flow MFC reactor could be achieved at HRT of 30min.

  • The 46th Davos Forum of the World Economic Forum (WEF) predicts the continued growth of the 4th industry in the future. Currently, the 4th industry is attracting attention in various academic and practical fields. As a core technology of the 4th industry, Big Data is regarded as a major resource to lead the 4th industrial revolution along with artificial intelligence. As the growing interest in Big Data, researches on it are actively being done. However, literature studies on existing Big Data are focused on qualitative research, and quantitative research is insufficient. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the big data research flow in MIS field and to make academic thirst for quantification. This study has collected 145 abstracts of big data papers published in major journals in MIS field and confirmed that a majority of papers are published in Decision Support Systems Journal. Text mining and text network analysis were performed only for DSS journals to eliminate bias. As a result of the analysis, it was found out that researches on combining big data in the management field between 2012 and 2014, and researches on system development and analysis method for using big data from 2015 to 2017 were conducted.
