Development of Auto Traffic Light Control System for Prevention of Traffic Jam (교통 정체 예방을 위한 자동 신호등 제어시스템 개발)

  • This paper suggests a new system based on image-processed information which is designed to control traffic light by measuring two-way traffic at the same time with a surveillance camera. With this system, the existing way of using one camera for one lane or loop coil will be improved to the more effective way of using only one camera to monitor a two-way, 8 lane roads statistically. Car images can be detected clearly even in irregular condition because of the background updating in real time. In addition, more accurate measurement is possible to users by selecting extra attention-needed regions. The automatic traffic light controlling algorithm, suggested in this paper, will prevent users and drivers from wasting their time and energy by controlling the number of traffic in advance.

The Effects of the Gender Role Identity and Gender Stereotypes on the Prejudice Against Male Nurses of Hospital Workers (병원 종사자의 성 역할 정체감과 성 고정관념이 남자간호사에 대한 편견에 미치는 영향)

  • As more and more males are participating in the female dominated nursing profession in Korea, they are facing a number of discriminations such as department assignment on the job because of male gender stereotype. The purpose of this study is to examine hospital workers's gender role identity, gender stereotype, and the relationship between those attitudes and gender prejudice against male nurses. The results showed that the androgynous group had lower gender stereotypes and lower prejudice against male nurses than those of the other groups. Hospital workers had a strong tendency to believe that male nurses should work mainly in special departments such as emergency rooms, intensive care units, operating rooms and they think that the male nurses are not fit for caring patients because of the patients' unfamiliarity with male nurses. Gender stereotypes were positively correlated to prejudice against male nurses. Therefore, hospitals should consider developing a detailed plan to encourage a culture of gender equality by tackling the existing prejudice against male nurses so that male nurses can get the same opportunities as female counterparts in terms of department assignment and job promotion.

Development and Evaluation of Middle School Home Economics Teaching Plans Using Personal Color System: Focusing on the Unit 'Daily Outfits & Clothing Acquisition' (퍼스널 컬러를 활용한 중학교 가정과 수업안의 개발과 평가: 2015 개정 중학교 실과(기술·가정) 교육과정의 '옷차림과 의복 마련' 단원 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and implement new classes using the concept of personal color system to the section 'Daily Outfits & Clothing Acquisition' in the 2015 revision of middle school home economics curriculum, and find out the effects on middle school students. For this, We redesigned a curriculum for 'Clothing Outfits and Self-Expression' part using personal color system, developed teaching/learning plans and teaching/learning materials, and examined the changes in self-identity, attitude in clothing life, and class satisfaction among students at the end of the class. The results of this research are as follows. After the implementation of 'Daily Outfits & Clothing Acquisition' unit classes which included the concept of personal color system, the students' self-identity and attitude in clothing life were improved. And according to the results of the individual interviews, students were generally satisfied with the class. If the 'Daily Outfits & Clothing Acquisition' unit classes using personal color system is widely used in middle school home economics classes, it can have positive impacts on adolescents and is expected to be of great help to home economics teachers as a valuable class material.

Clinical Efficacy of Bunny Multifocal Intraocular Lens after Cataract Surgery (버니 다초점인공수정체의 임상적 효용성)

  • Purpose: To compare the postoperative clinical outcomes after cataract surgery and implantation using the BunnyLens $MF^{(R)}$ and $ReSTOR^{(R)}$ multifocal intraocular lenses. Methods: Sixty-five eyes implanted with multifocal intraocular lenses were divided into two groups involving either $ReSTOR^{(R)}$ (39 eyes) or BunnyLens $MF^{(R)}$ (26 eyes) lenses. In these two groups, the distant and near visual acuity, astigmatism, spherical equivalent, and contrast sensitivity test were examined at preoperative and postoperative 1 week, 8 weeks, and 24 weeks. We compared the clinical efficacy between the two groups before and after cataract surgery using statistical analysis. Results: The mean value of distant and near visual acuity, and spherical equivalent of both groups after intraocular lens implantation were significantly improved, compared with the preoperative values (p < 0.05), while there was no significant differences between the two groups (p > 0.05). The means of postoperative distant and near visual acuity, astigmatism, and contrast sensitivity test were not significantly different between $ReSTOR^{(R)}$ and BunnyLens $MF^{(R)}$ lenses (p > 0.05). The mean numeric error of spherical equivalent at the final postoperative 24 weeks was $-0.17{\pm}0.50$ diopters (D) for the $ReSTOR^{(R)}$ lenses and $-0.34{\pm}0.52D$ for the BunnyLens $MF^{(R)}$ lenses (p > 0.05). Conclusions: BunnyLens $MF^{(R)}$ and $ReSTOR^{(R)}$ lenses showed no significant difference in clinical efficacy, including distance and near vision, spherical equivalent error, and contrast sensitivity test after cataract surgery. However, it should be noted that BunnyLens $MF^{(R)}$ lenses had a tendency toward myopic shift compared with $ReSTOR^{(R)}$ lenses.

  • Objectives: To define the difference in the identity of the authors of 『傷寒論』 and 『黃帝內經』 by analyzing the etymology of 巫, 毉, 醫, and 工. Methods: We analyzed the meaning of three Chinese characters based on oracle bones and bronze inscriptions, and considered examples of their utilization in two books. Results:In 『Gangpyeong-Shanghanlun』, 巫appears once, 醫appears 28 times, and 工appears once. In 『Huangdi Neijing』, 巫appears twice, 醫appears 24 times, and 工appears 64 times. Conclusions: The authors of 『傷寒論』 recognized themselves as '醫', and they were doctors who mainly treated prescriptions in the liquid form represented by 湯(tang). The authors of 『黃帝內經』 recognized themselves as '工', and they were doctors who treated them with a tool represented by "acupuncture."

Experimental study on the Supersonic Jet Noise and Its Prediction (초음속 제트에서의 유동 특성 및 소음 예측에 관한 연구)

  • this paper the acoustic signature from a supersonic nozzle is measured and compared to the result of a program developed for a gas turbine noise prediction. In order to measure the jet Mach Number, the pressure and temperature at the settling chamber was measured along with pressures from a pitot-tube placed near the exit. The results are also compared to the ones obtained with a shadow graph technique. Jet noise produced by an imperfectly expanded jet contains shock associated noise, which consist of broadband noise and screech tone noise. For subsonic condition, the directivity is dominant to the downstream direction due to turbulence mixing noise. For supersonic conditions, however, the directivity is dominant toward upstream direction due to shock associated noise. The comparison with a jet exhaust noise prediction code shows good agreement at supersonic conditions but needs to be improved at subsonic speeds.

  • This research suggests improvement strategies for the problems of 'public housing supplied through the purchase of existing house' by understanding the situation of supply to lowest income class in Seoul where there are many demands. Due to the heavy housing expenditure burden, in spite of the fact that the needs for affordable housings are increasing, the number of 'public housing supplied through the purchase of existing house' which has been supplied to Seoul by LH & SH has decreased since 2009. It is caused by the low standard purchasing price set by government especially Seoul. Since 'the public housing supplied through the purchase of existing house' is targeted for indigenous inhabitants, different supply stocks among different regions cause equity problem. Generally regions with low income class are in short supply, on the contrary the supply is especially concentrated specific regions in outskirts of Seoul. The main reason of such new supply stagnation and regional concentration is the low standard purchasing price. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the government's standard price according to the actual transaction price. Also it is needed to associate actual transaction price's increasing rate with the government's standard price. The housing supply based on demands must be established. In addition, the provision of 'public housing supplied through the purchase of existing house' should be expanded to low-middle income inhabitants and low income youth in the regions where the supply of the affordable housing excess demands.

Development of high performance and low noise compact centrifugal fan for cooling automotive seats (자동차 시트 쿨링용 고성능·저소음 컴팩트 원심팬 개발)

  • In this paper, a high-performance and low-noise centrifugal fan is developed for cooling automotive seats which provide a driver with pleasant driving environment. First, the flow characteristics of the existing fan unit was analyzed using a fan performance tester and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations. The analysis of the predicted flow field indicated vortex flow near the tip of fan hub and stagnation flow on the top of fan hub. Two design points are devised to reduce the vortex flow and the stagnation flow observed in the existing fan unit. First, the cut-off clearance which is the minimum distance between the fan blade and the fan housing is increased to reduce the vortex strength and, as a result, to reduce the overall sound pressure level. Second, the hub shape is more modified to eliminate the stagnation flow. The validity of proposed design is confirmed through the numerical analysis. Finally, a prototype is manufactured with a basis on the numerical analysis result and its improved flow and noise performances are confirmed through the P-Q curves measured by using the Fan Tester and the SPL (Sound Pressure Level) levels measured in the anechoic chamber.

Flow Characteristics of WIG-Effect Vehicle with Direct-Underside-Pressurization System and Propeller (DUP와 프로펠러가 있는 위그선 주위의 유동특성)

  • A three-dimensional numerical study of the WIG-effect vehicle with a direct-underside-pressurization (DUP) system and a propeller is performed to analyze the aerodynamic forces and moments acting on the vehicle. The computational model includes all the compartments of a WIG-effect vehicle, including a propeller in the middle of the fuselage and an air chamber under the fuselage. The DUP system and propeller help considerably reduce the take-off speed and minimize the effect of the hump drag when the vehicle accelerates to take off on water. The airflow is accelerated by a propeller, and the air then enters the air chamber through a channel in the middle of the fuselage, this air helps increase the lift since the dynamic pressure of air is converted to static pressure. However, the air accelerated by the propeller produces excessive drag and creates yawing moment. It is found that the effect of yawing and rolling moments on static stability is negligible.

  • 올해 국내 실물경기는 수출 증가세가 점차 둔화되고, 내수도 소비의 둔화와 투자의 감소 전환 등의 영 향으로 완연한 하락세를 보였다. 내수는 설비투자와 건설투자가 크게 감소하면서 급속한 조정 양상을 보이고 있으며, 소비도 연 2%대 증가율로 떨어지면서 둔화세를 기록하고 있다. 수출은 물량의 증가세가 유지되고 있으나, 단가는 기저효과로 인한 유가상승 폭의 축소 등의 영향으로 상승률이 떨어지면서 증가세가 둔화되었다. 2019년 세계경제는 선진권의 경기둔화와 개도권의 성장률 정체가 예상되는 가운데 하방 리스크 요인으로 인해 제한적 성장이 예상된다. 선진권은 미국경제의 성장률 하락이 예상되는 한편, 일본과 유로권도 전년보다는 약간 낮은 성장률이, 중국은 연 6%대 초반까지 성장률 하락이 예상된다. 국제유가는 글로벌 경기 둔화에 따른 원유의 수요 감소와 미 달러화의 가치 상승 등 금융 요인이 하방 압력으로 작용하나, OPEC의 감산 지속과 지정학적 불안정성이 상승 요인으로 작용하면서 연평균 보합이 예상된다. 환율은 미 달러화의 강세기조가 2019년 상반기까지 이어질 것으로 예상되지만, 하반기에는 유럽 등지의 통화긴축 전환과 미국경기 둔화 등의 영향으로 달러화가 약세로 전환하면서 연평균 기준 소폭 상승할 것으로 기대된다. 2019년 국내경제는 수출과 투자가 글로벌 경기 둔화 등의 영향으로 소폭 증가에 그치고, 소비가 전년대비 둔화세를 보이면서 2018년보다 약간 낮은 2.6%의 성장률이 예상된다. 소비는 실질소득 감소와 고용 부진 등이 예상되고, 대외 불확실성으로 인한 체감경기 약화로 증가세가 둔화되나, 보건 복지 고용의 지출 확대, 유류세 인하 등 정부 정책은 실질구매력 제고에 긍정적 요인으로 작용할 전망이다. 설비투자는 대외 불확실성과 대내 구조적 취약성 등의 영향으로 인해 제한적인 증가세가 예상되며, 건설투자도 정부의 부동산시장 안정화 대책과 SOC예산 감축 등의 영향으로 감소세가 이어질 전망이다. 수출은 세계경기의 성장세 둔화로 인해 수출물량이 소폭 증가에 그치고, 반도체의 가격 하락과 국제유가의 횡보 전망 등으로 수출단가도 하락 압력이 커지면서 2018년 보다 낮은 3.7%의 증가율이 예상된다.
