  • The present study was designed to investigate the effect of home based exercise program on balance recovery of stroke patients. In total, 20 participants were assigned to a control group(n=10) or exercise group(n=10) between September 2013 and December 2013. In addition to existing physiotherapy, the exercise group received home based exercise program consisting of weight transfer, training endurance, mobility, sensory retraining, lower limb exercise for 30 minutes, 2 times a week, for 8 weeks, every time for 30 minutes. Balance ability was assessed by measuring foot pressure(FP), limit of stability(LOS) and velocity sway(VS) by using Biorescue and by using the functional reaching test(FRT). To compare the improvement level of each group's balance ability, examination of independent sample T was done. Significant differences between control group and exercise group in LOS, VS of affect side and FRT were observed. This study showed that home based exercise program application was effective strategy on balance recovery in a post stroke population.

  • Disaster Experience, Perception and Core Competencies on Disaster Nursing of Nursing Students. This paper was aimed to investigate disaster experience, perception and core competencies on disaster nursing of nursing students and to provide basic data needed for development of disaster nursing program. 172 nursing students enrolled in a department of nursing completed questionnaires. The data were collected from December 1, 2012 to December 23, 2012. The result were as follows; The average level of perception about disaster nursing was 18.16 out of 25 points, suggesting that they generally perceived disaster nursing as an important matter. Core competencies of the subjects on disaster nursing was 41.56 out of 75 points, which was moderate for the core competencies on disaster nursing. There was statistically significant positive correlation between the perception about disaster nursing and core competencies on disaster nursing. It is necessary to develop disaster nursing program to reflect the needs of the field in Korea. Further research is needed to adequately address this issue.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify consciousness of bio-medical ethics of nursing and non-nursing students. The total mean scores of consciousness of bio-medical ethics between nursing(3.04/4) and non-nursing(2.88/4) were significantly different(t=6.79, p<.001). There were statistically significant differences between two groups in sub-categories of consciousness of bio-medical ethics: right to life of fetus, prenatal diagnosis of fetus, right to life of newborn, euthanasia, organ transplantation, brain death. The major predicting factors for consciousness of bio-medical ethics were experience of studying for biomedical ethics over 1 semester, experience of conflict for biomedical ethic problem, and ethical attitude in nursing department. Study results indicate that appropriate and various teaching-learning method for education of each department is deeded according to move up into a higher class with consciousness of bio-medical ethics, ability of decision making, critical thinking.

The subjects who participated in the study were patients diagnosed with fibromyalgia syndrome at a university hospital in G city. The total number of participants was 43, 21 in the experimental group and 22 in the control group. For the experimental group, a total of 16 yoga self-help management programs were held twice a week for eight weeks at the yoga center, and yoga DVDs, photographs, and educational booklets developed for the home were provided. The control group was subjected to pre - test and post - test without intervention. Data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 18.0 program. As a result of the study, it was found that the experimental group had significantly improved health status(Tender point, FIQ) and the depression was lower than the control group, which was effective in the intervention strategy of the fibromyalgia syndrome patients.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the mediating effect of somatic symptoms between depression and resilience of women undergoing assisted reproductive techniques. The data were collected by structured questionnaire from 97 infertile women who were receiving assisted reproductive techniques in clinic for fertility treatment. There was a significant correlation among depression, somatic symptoms and resilience. Somatic symptoms had a complete mediating effect(${\beta}=.73$, p< .001) on the relationship between depression and resilience(Z=6.32, p< .001). And impact of influence was 53%. Based on the findings of this study, it was found that the development and application of somatic symptoms management program for improving resilience should be needed for nursing women undergoing assisted reproductive techniques in the clinical setting.

  • The specific purpose was to determine the effect of walking on the body composition and hematological index of hemodialysis patients in order to confirm the relationship between activity and health level of hemodialysis patients. The research method is a cross-sectional descriptive survey conducted in hemodialysis patients. The subjects were 66 hemodialysis patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment in B city. As a result of the study, walking was decreased in hemodialysis patients, and there was a difference in hematological index according to walking, but there was no difference in body composition. As body weight increased, skeletal mass, body fat mass, body mass index, abdominal fat percentage, basal metabolism, and protein increased, but total cholesterol and high-density cholesterol decreased. This study proposes to expand the number of subjects of hemodialysis patients to investigate by adding nutritional intake in addition to walking, body composition and hematological index.

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate the attitudes towards death and euthanasia of Nurses and Nursing students live in convergence era. The participants were 380 nurses and nursing students and data were collected from May until June of 2014. The data were collected by means of self reported questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics t-test, one-way ANOVA and Scheffe test with the SPSS/WIN 18.0 program. The result showed that the fear of death of others with nursing students was higher than nurses (t=-3.34, p=.001) and nursing students supported euthanasia more than nurses(t=-3.06, p=.002). Among the death attitude, both of the nurses and the nursing students had the highest score 'fear of their own dying' and the lowest score 'fear of the dying of others'. Regarding attitude to euthanasia, both of them the most important factor was 'the right of the client'. These results suggest that death education program to deal with nursing services without ethical conflicts should be developed.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the influenza vaccination rate and vaccination-related factors in adult diabetics in Korea using the Korean Community Health Survey (KCHS). Data on 228,261 adults aged 19 years and over were derived from the KCHS, which was conducted in 2015. Sociodemographic factors, health behavior, comorbid diseases, and subjective health status were analyzed for their relationships with influenza vaccination by the chi-squared test and multiple logistic analysis. As a result, the level of influenza vaccination rate among adult diabetics in Korea was as low as 62.4%. For those with diabetes, Influenza vaccination was related with age, gender, education level, residency, marital status, occupation, smoking, health screening, and comorbid diseases (p<0.05). In conclusion, in order to increase the influenza vaccination rate among diabetic patients, systematic education and publicity are essential to raise awareness of vaccination. At the same time, the government should support them with their policies such as free vaccination expansion.

  • The purpose of this study was to survey the effects of convergence factors and time elapsed after kidney transplantation on self-care adherence. The study included 235 patients; the data was collected from September, to October, 2014. Old age, female gender and duration of transplantation were identified as factors significantly affecting self-care adherence. Self-care adherence also showed significant differences depending on the elapsed time, and the decrease in self-care compliance was most evident between 1 and 5 years after kidney transplantation. Therefore, development of a nursing strategy that would provide education and self-care improvement programs is needed to improve self-care based on convergence factors and elapsed time.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of smart phone video educational program on disease-related knowledge and anxiety in patients with coronary artery disease. A quasi-experimental study used a non-equivalent control group pre-post test design. A smart phone video educational program was developed and offered to the experimental group. Participants were drawn from a inpatient ward. Twenty eight were selected for the experimental group while 30 were assigned to a control group. The results of this study were as followed: Disease-related knowledge in the experimental group showed a significant increase after smart phone video education compared with the control group. But the score of anxiety did not show a significant difference between experimental and control group. Thus, it is necessary to develop interventions considering both educational and psychological factors at the same time for the patients with coronary artery disease.
