정전분무법으로 제작된 열경화성 Phenol-formaldehyde resin 코팅층의 1차원적 미세구조 형성 메카니즘 (1-D Microstructure Evolution of Electrostatic Sprayed Thermosetting Phenol-formaldehyde Resin Coating)

  • Microstructure evolutions of thermosetting resin coating layers fabricated by electrostatic spray deposition (ESD) at various processing conditions were investigated. Two different typical polymer systems, a thermosetting phenol-formaldehyde resin and a thermoplastic polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), were employed for a comparative study. Precursor solutions of the phenol-formaldehyde resin and of the PVP were electro-sprayed on heated silicon substrates. Fundamental differences in the thermomechanical properties of the polymers resulted in distinct ways of microstructure evolution of the electro-sprayed polymer films. For the thermosetting polymer, phenol-formaldehyde resin, vertically aligned micro-rod structures developed when it was deposited by ESD under controlled processing conditions. Through extensive microstructure and thermal analyses, it was found that the vertically aligned micro-rod structures of phenol-formaldehyde resin were formed as a result of the rheological behavior of the thermosetting phenol-formaldehyde resin and the preferential landing phenomenon of the ESD method.

  • An electrospray patterning method has been considered as a new and effective way for controlling very fine droplets. Drop-on-demand patterning for unstained nutrient broth on wafers was newly conducted with an electrospray pulsed jet. The patterns had been made under varying experimental conditions including flow rate, vibration frequency, and translational speed of the electrospray patterning system. In this experiment, especially, variation of nutrient broth droplet was measured under varying flow rate conditions. This new technique has a potential to be applied in biology experiments and hormone medical industry.

  • In various industries, many researches studies have been done in using nano thin film fabrication technology. In the field of printed electronics, various electronic devices can be fabricated using a direct printing process of on multiple functional materials. It has the advantages of low prices, environment-friendly environmentally friendly, flexibleility, large scale, mass production produced, simple process and so on. In this study, a viable thin film fabrication technology has beenwas introduced using the surface acoustic wave mechanism for thin film deposition. Fabrication of thin films using organic, inorganic and composite of organic/inorganic materials have been were analyzed through the experimental research. In this experiment, organic material MEH:PPV, inorganic material ZnO and composite material MEH:PPV/ZnO have been depo sited as thin films.

정전분무 방전극을 이용한 습식 전기집진장치의 미세먼지 집진효율 평가 (Evaluation of Particle Collection Efficiency in a Wet Electrostatic Precipitator Using an Electrosprayed Discharge Electrode)

  • The wet electrostatic precipitator (wet ESP) is an effective control device which removes submicron particles reentrained in a collection plate and water soluble gas. However, its collection efficiency decreases, as its operation is subject to water-induced distortion of the collection electrode. In order to make up for the limitation, we modified the wet ESP system by installing electrosprayed discharge electrodes. The modified wet ESP system can wash both the collection plate and discharge electrode. As a result, we were able to fabricate a compact wet ESP with a small specific collecting area ($0.18m^2(m^3/min)$) that can accomplish a high collection efficiency of fine particles (97.1%). In addition, the device obtained a relatively low specific corona power of approximately $10W/(m^3/min)$.

  • New process consisting of electrospray and epitaxial crystal growth processes was applied to the preparation of c-plane oriented barium ferrite ($BaFe_{12}O_{19}$) thin film for high density magnetic recording media. Sodium citrate aided process was proper to preparation of amorphous $BaFe_{12}O_{19}$ nanoparticles with geometric mean diameter of 3 nm and geometric standard deviation of 1.1. The electrospray was applicable to the prepare of amorphous $BaFe_{12}O_{19}$ thin film on a substrate, and the film thickness could be controlled by adjusting the electrospray deposition time. The c-plane oriented $BaFe_{12}O_{19}$ thin film was successfully prepared by 3 step annealing process of the $BaFe_{12}O_{19}$ amorphous film on a sapphire($Al_2O_3$) substrate; annealing at $350^{\circ}C$ for 30 min, annealing at $500^{\circ}C$ for 30 min, and annealing at $700^{\circ}C$ for 60 min.

과수 방제기용 정전대전 노즐의 분무 및 부착특성 (Spray and Depositional Characteristics of Electrostatic Nozzles for Orchard Sprayers)

  • Spraying is one of the most efficient methods for pesticide and insecticide control. Generally, orchard sprayers(aircarrier sprayer) are used for such applications. However, when an orchard sprayer is used, only 20% of total amount of spray deposits on the target. The rest of spray are not only wasted but are also potential sources of environmental pollution. The research far the development of electrostatic spraying system for orchard sprayer was conducted to develop the new pesticide application technology for the reduction of environmental pollution and f3r the production of safe agricultural products. The spray characteristics for nozzles with the different charging methods were tested and the effect of electrostatic charge was analyzed, in the laboratory experiments. The results of this study indicate that the capacitive type of electrostatic spraying nozzle exhibits a large current deposition of water sprays on the sample target. The covering area ratio by conventional spraying system was 10.2%, while that of electrostatic sprays with pulse induction charging method gave the increased covering area ratio by 4.3 times.

  • Dye sensitized solar cells(DSCs) have been very economical and easy method to convert solar energy to electricity. DSC can reach low costs in future outdoor power applications. However, to commercialize the DSC, there are still many shortages to overcome such a low efficiency in a large size DSC. In this study, DSCs were fabricated by an electrospray coating method for the $TiO_2$ thin film. They were compared with DSCs prepared by conventional coating methods. We conducted an experiment to obtain the optimized parameters of voltage, flow rate, incident angle and distance in the electrospray method. After we fabricated $TiO_2$ film using that way, we investigated the characteristics of DSC through I-V Curve, SEM and EIS. This novel method shows stable performance with an energy conversion efficiency of 3.44 % under 1 sun illumination (AM 1, $P_{in}$ of $100\;mW/cm^2$).

미세먼지 집진을 위한 직접 하전 방식 정전분무의 최적 동작 조건에 관한 연구 (The Study on the Optimal Operating Conditions of Direct Charging Type Electrospray for Particulate Matter Collection)

  • This paper is an experimental study on the optimal operating conditions of direct charging type electrospray for particulate matter collection. To perform the research, a direct charging type electrospray visualization system was configured to photograph the spray shape of microdroplets, and experiments were performed with varying electrode distance, flow rate, and applied voltage, which are the main factors affecting the particulate matter collection efficacy. Through image processing, the total number of microdroplets according to each condition was analyzed, and the number of microdroplets with a diameter of 1.5 mm or less was confirmed. In addition, by calculating the number of microdroplets per power consumption according to the applied voltage, the optimal operating conditions were derived in terms of energy consumption efficacy, and the microdroplet size distribution was analyzed under the optimal operating conditions. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that the optimal operating condition was at a flow rate of 10 mL/min and a voltage of -20 kV in case of 5 mm electrode distance, and at a flow rate of 15 mL/min and a voltage of -30 kV in case of 100 mm electrode distance.

정전 분무법을 이용하여 제조된 Fe-Cr-Al 분말 다공체 금속의 고온 산화에 미치는 소결 온도의 영향 (Effect of Sintering Temperature on the High Temperature Oxidation of Fe-Cr-Al Powder Porous Metal Manufactured by Electrospray Process)

  • A new manufacturing process of Fe-Cr-Al powder porous metal was attempted. First, ultra-fine fecralloy powders were produced by using the submerged electric wire explosion process. Evenly distributed colloid (0.05~0.5% powders) was dispersed on PU (Polyurethane) foam through the electrospray process. And then degreasing and sintering processes were conduced. In order to examine the effect of sintering temperature in process, pre-samples were sintered for two hours at temperatures of $1350^{\circ}C$, $1400^{\circ}C$, $1450^{\circ}C$, and $1500^{\circ}C$, respectively, in $H_2$ atmospheres. A 24-hour TGA (thermo gravimetric analysis) test was conducted at $1000^{\circ}C$ in a 79% $N_2$+21% $O_2$ to investigate the high temperature oxidation behavior of powder porous metal. The results of the high temperature oxidation tests showed that oxidation resistance increased with increasing sintering temperature (2.57% oxidation weight gain at $1500^{\circ}C$ sintered specimen). The high temperature oxidation mechanism of newly manufactured Fe-Cr-Al powder porous metal was also discussed.

In order to examine the effect of cell size ($200{\mu}m$, $450{\mu}m$, $500{\mu}m$) in process, pre-samples were sintered for two hours at temperature of $1450^{\circ}C$, in $H_2$ atmospheres. A 24-hour thermo gravimetric analysis test was conducted at $1000^{\circ}C$ in a 79% $N_2$ + 21% $O_2$ to investigate the high temperature oxidation behavior of powder porous metal. The results of the high temperature oxidation tests showed that oxidation resistance increased with increasing cell size. In the $200{\mu}m$ porous metal with a thinner strut and larger specific surface area, the depletion of the stabilizing elements such as Al and Cr occurred more quickly during the high-temperature oxidation compared with the 450, $500{\mu}m$ porous metals.
