  • Objective : This study was to evaluate the effects of a Neurofeedback(NFB) and Computer Assisted Cognitive Rehabilitation(CACR) training to improve on cognition and affected arm function in stroke subjects. Methods : Participants were randomly allocated to three groups: NFB(n=14), CACR(n=14) and control(n=16). All groups received occupational therapy and physical therapy for 5 session 30 minutes per week during 6 weeks. Also NFB and CACR group practiced additional NeuroComp training and RehaCom training for 30 sessions 30 minutes during 6 weeks. Results were evaluated by cognition, affected arm function. Results : There were significantly increased by CACR training that outcomes of MMSE-K(p<.05). And there weren't significantly difference by NFB and CACR training that outcomes of the affected arm function. And a difference between three groups wasn't found. Conclusion : The NFB and CACR training improves cognitive function. These results suggest that NFB and CACR training is feasible and suitable for individuals with stroke.

Accordingly, this study aims to find out which factors are related to families active coping with the mentally ill. This study is conducted the survey with 191 family members of the mentally ills in order to discover: 1) what kinds of relations do exist between sociodemographic factors of the respondents, care-burden toward the mentally ill, and social supports, and the active coping, and 2) in what extent do these related factors affect on the active coping. The major findings of the study are: 1) gender and educational background of the respondents are positively related to the active coping; 2) regarding care-burden felt by the respondents, there is statistically significant positive relationship between - the respondents' burden due to a lack of social and institutional support and their active coping; 3) considering the relationship with social support, there is highly positive relationship between decision. emotional. material supports and the active coping; 4) using a multiple regression, respondents' sociodemographic background, care-burden, social support affect significantly on the active coping by 26.2% of explanatory power; and 5) using a step-wise multiple regression, the most powerful influenced factors on active coping are emotional support, burden due to a lack of social and institutional support, and educational background of the respondents. In conclusion, this study recommends clinicians to use an educational and support model for the families. All these efforts will contribute to enhance active coping of the families with the mentally ill.

  • Objectives To evaluate the pattern identification tool for knee osteoarthritis and to investigate the relationship between pattern identification tool and knee ROM (range of motion), VAS (visual analog scale) and WOMAC (Western Ontario & McMaster Universities osteoarthritis index). Methods We studied 50 patients who are diagnosed as degenerative osteoarthritis. With one patient dropping out, total of 49 patient went through pattern identification tool. Re-test of the pattern identification tool was implemented after about a week. The reliability was analyzed by calculating ICC (intraclass correlation coefficient). Also, reliability of each pattern identification score was calculated along with influence factor and correlation between knee ROM, VAS and WOMAC. Results Reliability of the pattern identification tool was evaluated as 'poor agreement beyond chance' with ICC value of 0.396. Reliablility of each pattern identification score was calculated and four out of five were measured 'good' with one 'moderate' reliability. Two of inter-item consistency were 'good', two were 'acceptable' and one was 'questionable'. Correlation between each pattern identification and knee ROM showed 'clear negative linear relationship' with two patterns. VAS showed 'clear positivie linear relationship' with all five patterns. WOMAC showed 'positivie linear relationship' with all five patterns. Conclusions According to the results, pattern identification tool for knee osteoarthritis seems to have meaningful relationship with other agnedas. Also, further research is needed to develop the tool.

Method : The data were collected using raw data of the 2016 community health survey and compared between 2,592 adults living with dementia patients and 225,840 general adults. health were assessed for sleep time, stress level, depression, and subjective health status, and quality of life was measured by EQ-5D. Result : In comparison of demographic characteristics, age and family number of adults living with dementia patients were significantly higher than general adults (p<.001), income and eduation levels were low (p<.001), and marital status was higher rate of living with spouse (p<.05). In comparison of health status, adults living with dementia patients were significantly longer in sleep time than the general adults (p<.001), and stress level was higher (p<.001), the percentage of experience of depression was higher (p<.001), and the subjective health status was worse (p<.001). Adults living with dementia patients were significantly lower in quality of life total score and all sub-domain than general adults (p<.001). Conclusion : Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to seek ways to improve the health and quality of life of dementia patients' families.

  • Targeted memory reactivation (TMR) is a method whereby cues associated with previous learning are used to externally reactivate aspects of this learning. Research findings demonstrate that TMR can be a useful tool to enhance memory consolidation during sleep in both animals and humans, especially in the declarative/spatial domain. Neurocognitive processing during sleep with covert cueing via auditory or olfactory stimulation can benefit memory storage. These beneficial effects on memory consolidation during sleep are associated with the activation of memory-related brain areas. The purpose of the present review is to provide a short overview of the findings of studies that adopted the TMR method of sleep-dependent memory consolidation and to suggest the potential applications of TMR in variable areas.
