Analysis on Reliabilities of Seoul's Trunk Bus Lines Using BMS Data (through Data Envelopment Analysis) (BMS 자료를 이용한 서울시 간선버스의 정시성 분석(자료포락분석기법을 적용하여))

  • The purpose of this paper is to identify unreliable routes in the view of users. After headway error ratio per route and travel time error ratio per route were calculated by using BMS data, reliability which incorporated two indicators each route was calculated through data envelopment analysis. Reliability among routes and among traffic zones was compared through the results, the needs to improve severely unreliable routes and to show passengers adjusted bus schedule information considering current reliability were suggested. As a future study, reliability evaluation framework of each route needs to be developed considering operation environment by analyzing bus card data (passengers and operation speed etc.) and pooly unreliable route should be managed strictly and reformed.

  • Punctuality of bus operation can be defined as "timely operation of buses according to their operation schedules." It tis often considered as one of the important measures of bus operation reliability in evaluating bus operation performance from the viewpoint of bus users. Passenger waiting times are severely influenced by the punctuality of bus operations. However, there exist many situations that predetermined schedules cannot be met. In these cases, other definitions of punctuality should be given. This paper is to develop punctuality indexes of bus operation based on various bus operating situations. Bus operation data sampled from Seoul bus system were analyzed to calculate punctuality indexes for a number of bus routes. Then, bus operation punctuality was characterized by various operating conditions. Several interesting results were obtained and explained.

  • Since Successive introduction of BMS(Bus Management System) into the local governments has been able to collect each bus data on the road and valuate the bus operation by the quantitative index not qualitative index. we need a study on punctuality index for evaluation of service level for bus operation using bus location information. We propose punctuality index for bus operation using time-space diagram and valuate the index by application to real bus data.

Identifying Key Factors to Affect Bus Headway Deviation using Hierarchical Linear Model (Seoul Case Study) (HLM을 이용한 버스차두간격 편차에 미치는 요인분석 (서울시사례를 중심으로))

  • It has been known that bus route and company related characteristics have influences on punctuality, but fewer research have been conducted. Independent variables used in this study were selected using correlation analysis, and OLS(Ordinary Least Square) and HLM(Hierarchical Linear Model) were employed to identify factors affecting bus punctuality(headway deviation). The results showed that ICC(intraclass Correlation Coefficient) is 0.10, indicating that hierarchical linear models are more adequate for these data because there is effective variation in the subjects between companies. Punctuality was found to be negatively associated with the number of vehicles, the number of persons per vehicle, and total travel time. On the other hand, average headway and company size have a positive relationship with punctuality. Therefore, the number of vehicles per route, average headway, and the number of vehicles managed by a company should be considered for more accurately evaluating the management of piunctuality.

  • 항공서비스에 있어서 여러 중요한 요소가 있지만 그 가운데 가장 중요한 요소로 운항의 정시성을 들 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 마코프 체인을 이용하여 항공사 및 공항의 정시성을 평가하고 예측하고자 하였다. 실험용 데이터로 선택한 미국 항공운항 데이터를 기상 악화에 따른 도착지연시간을 기준으로 정시성이 우수한 항공사를 제안하는 기능을 테스트하였다. 본 논문에서는 과거의 항공운항 데이터를 활용하여 미래의 운항 지연을 예측할 수 있도록 마코프 체인을 기반으로 한 예측 방법을 제시하였다.

  • 2008년부터 시작된 세계경제 위축은 전 세계 해상물동량 감소로 이어져 컨테이너선업계의 불황이 더욱 심화되고 있다. 선사들은 불황을 극복하기 위하여 여러 가지 전략들을 구사하고 있다. 대부분의 선사들은 잉여 선박의 추가투입으로 감속운항을 통해 선박 운영비용을 절감하고 있는데, 이와 같은 시도는 선사입장에서는 비용절감이 되지만 감속운항이 화물의 정시성을 저해하는 요소로 작용하고 있기 때문에 화주입장에서는 불만요인이 될 수 있다. 이러한 상황에서 'M'선사는 "On Time Delivery"를 보증하기 위해서 아시아-유럽항로에서 새로운 서비스인 Daily Maersk Service를 2011년 10월부터 적용하고 있다. 본 서비스는 아시아발 북유럽행 특정 기간 포트구간 수송에서 100% "On Time Delivery"를 보증하고, 또한 매일 화물수탁을 가능하게 한 신서비스이다. 본 연구에서는 업계 1위를 달리고 있는 'M'선사가 감속운항을 하면서도 화물의 정시성을 높이기 위해 실시하고 있는 Daily Maersk Service를 통하여 가격 경쟁과 더불어 서비스 경쟁에서도 우위를 확보하려는 전략이 효과를 나타내고 있는 지에 대하여 사례연구를 통하여 확인하였다.

  • This study analyzed the quality of a commuter rail service of Incheon line 1 with respect to two service measures such as occupancy (crowdedness) and punctuality based on transit smart card data collected in 2009. In order to analyze the metro services by individual fleet, we aggregated the personal level card data into the fleet operated in each planned schedule. The results show a low level of service for both crowdedness and punctuality during peak hours at the line segment from 'Gyeyang' to 'International business district'. Further, a close relationship between vehicle occupancy and punctuality is found, which illustrates high passenger demand causes successive metro delay.

  • The Seoul metropolitan government introduced the bus information systems, bus rapid transit to increase travel speed and punctuality but still suffer from insufficiency. This paper delivers a study verifying the external factors at near the bus stops. The dependent variable was set to the standard deviation of (1) travel time and (2) travel time to and from the bus stop in this study. The independent variables were set to (1) the number of routes, (2) traffic volume by bus type, (3) the number of bus bays, (4) the possibility of passing, (5) the distance to crosswalks and intersections, and (5) the presence of residential road. The results showed that the most significant factors included the link section speed, number of bus bay, distance to crosswalk, and the possibility of passing.

  • In airlines, on-time performance (OTP) is a measure of an airline's reliability and can be used as an important indicator when compared to other airlines. This study analyzed the effects and strength of delay factors on airline punctuality by analyzing the data of domestic K airlines for one year before and after March 2020, when the number of flights drastically decreased due to the corona virus. In addition, delays caused by seasonal weather effects were analyzed, and how the number of passengers who plummeted due to the corona situation had an effect on delay factors was studied. As for the delay factors, the delay codes of K airline which added its own codes to the delay codes of IATA, were applied. Based on the results of the analysis, we would like to suggest a method to minimize the delay.

  • 물관련 정보화에 대한 우리나라의 수준을 평가하기 위해 건설교통부 및 산하기관에서 구축되어 운영되고 있거나 현재 구축 중인 14개 시스템에 대한 현황, 연혁, 구조 등을 조사하였으며 미국, 영국, 일본의 정보화 관련 조직과 시스템에 대한 조사 및 분석을 통해 우리나라의 물관련 정보화가 향후 지향해야 할 방향을 제시하였다. 관련 시스템 및 정보화 환경에 대한 조사성과를 바탕으로 우리나라의 물 관련 정보화 수준을 4가지 정보화 영역별(수자원정보화, 물관리정보화, 하천정보화, 수문정보화)로 평가하였고, 기본원칙 다섯 가지(공공성, 정확성, 정시성, 다양성, 연계성)를 설정하여 정량적인 지표로 결과를 제시하였다. 분석결과, 4개 정보화 영역에 대한 기본전략을 수립할 경우 향후 목표로 하고 있는 수준에 도달하기 위해서는 정확성, 정시성, 다양성의 원칙에 부합하는 지표들에 대한 시스템에 우선 집중하여야 할 것으로 나타났으며, 다음으로는 공공성 및 연계성 부분에 집중함으로써 향후 다양한 기능을 갖춘 물관련 정보 종합시스템의 구축을 추진해야 할 것으로 나타났다.
