The Effect of the Turnover Intention of Flight Attendant on Job satisfaction -Focused on Supervisory Support- (항공사 승무원의 이직요인이 직무만족에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 -상사지원 조절효과를 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this research is to understand influence of personal turnover factors and work turnover factors on job satisfaction in career decision-making and to analyze the moderating effects of supervisor support in their relations. Meaningful difference between one group with high supervisor support and other group with low supervisor support is demonstrated in regard with a course; job burnout ${\rightarrow}$ job satisfaction, and work overload ${\rightarrow}$ job satisfaction. Hence from a perspective of the course of job burnout ${\rightarrow}$ job satisfaction and work overload ${\rightarrow}$ job satisfaction, it can be argued that a group with low supervisor support yields more influence. Also it is shown that conflicts on balancing between job and family do not have influence on job satisfaction for either group with high supervisor support or with low supervisor support. As the result of the research shows, it bears a quite significant meaning that career development/lack of opportunity out of personal turnover intentions disclose difference between these two groups with different levels of supervisor support. Especially, a group of flight attendants which females are consisted of a majority of employees would require that their supervisors have more emotional interactions with each employee, so as that better opportunity would be given to the employees. To this end, utmost efforts are needed that deep and genuine relations with a supervisor can be built up.

  • The College entrance examination stress syndrome is a kind of anxiety disorder. The underlying cause of this disorder is not a test anxiety itself. One's hidden inner and familial conflicts are more likely attributed to this disorder. Patient's the most common complaints are various psychosomatic symptoms but in severe cases underlying psychopathology may be activated and progress to major psychosis. In a broad sense adolescent's delinguent behavior, drug abuse, school drop-out and sucide are closely related to this syndrome. In clinical management of these patients, considering the special situation of impending examination, the therapist must access to central conflict theme in a short time without severe resistance. The authors classified this syndrome into 5 clinical subtypes ; 'the anxious group', 'the exhaustion group', 'the despair group', 'the emptyness group' and 'the boredome group'. Typical case of each subtype and it's management methods were presented briefly.

Helping Professional's Trauma Work-related Stresses : Do Secondary Traumatic Stress and Burnout differ? (외상피해원조실무자의 이차적 외상스트레스와 소진은 서로 다른가?)

  • The aim of the present study was to determine whether secondary traumatic stress and burnout of CPS workers in Korea differ, being significantly affected by different variables of each own. A two-way MANCOVA was conducted to determine the effect of trauma exposure and work-condition satisfaction on secondary traumatic stress(intrusion and avoidance) and burnout(emotional deprivation, depersonalization, personal achievement) while controlling for gender, age, and personal trauma history. Exposure to clients' traumatic material did not affect secondary traumatic stress and burnout either. Rather, it was found that both of secondary traumatic stress and burnout was significantly affected by the same independent variables(level of exposure to being threatened by violent abusers of victims and the level of workers' satisfaction of work conditions in workplace). Therefore, it was difficult to address that secondary traumatic stress and burnout have a completely different construct.

The Relationship of Violence Experience with Psychosocial Stress and Burnout in 119 Emergency Medical Technicians in the ICT Age (ICT 시대에서 119 구급대원의 폭력경험과 사회심리적 스트레스 및 소진의 연관성)

  • This study aimed to identify correlations among experience of violence, psychosocial stress and exhaustion in emergency medical technicians. In total, 393 emergency medical technicians were participated in the survey using an organized essay-type questionnaire. To determine psychosocial stress and exhaustion factors, a linear regression analysis was performed. In results, psychosocial stress factors were work units, the hope to keeping working in the present department, and verbal violence ($R^2=12.9%$), and the exhaustion factors were hope to keeping working at the present department, work units, and verbal violence ($R^2=14.5%$). In conclusion, it is suggested that strategies to deal with violence against subjects are educational programs to prevent violence and emotional support programs to decrease psychosocial stress, as well measures to improve the emergency rescue environment should be developed.

Factors Associated with Burnout of Korean Child Protective Service Workers (아동학대예방센터 상담원의 소진관련 요인에 관한 연구)

  • Relations of factors associated with burnout were investigated among 124 child protective service workers currently working in Korean Child Abuse Prevention Centers nationwide. Three categories of factors associated with burnout were examined; (1) individual characteristics, (2) job-related characteristics, and (3) job-satisfaction. Social survey method using questionnaires by mail was employed. MBI(Maslach Burnout Inventory) for measuring burnout, a part of Smith, Kendal & Hulin's JDI(Job Description Index) for job-satisfaction, and a scale measuring the special characteristics of job developed by researchers were used. Mann-Whitney test and Kruskal-Wallis test were employed to analyze the data. Across all burnout sub-scales(emotional depletion, dehumanization of clients, lack of feelings of achievement), subjects reported a high degree(above the cutting point) of burnout. Several factors were identified as associated with burnout. Child protective service workers who are young, single with front line worker status reported higher burnout. Lack of education and training before the job location were another factors which contributed to worker burnout. Lack of proper supervision stood out as another burnout provoking factor. Job-satisfaction was negatively correlated with all three burnout sub-scales, which meant the lower the job-satisfaction, the higher the burnout of service workers. The findings implicate that the administrators of Child Abuse Prevention Centers should pay close attention to their workers' sign of burnout and develop carefully designed support system which include provision of excellent supervision, proper education and training opportunities and organizational effort to strengthen employees' overall job-satisfaction to secure their quality of services toward abused children and their family.

The Impact of Work Stress and Job Satisfaction on Turnover Intention: A Study of Long-term Care Workers (노인장기요양 인력의 직무 스트레스와 직무 만족이 이직 의도에 미치는 영향)

  • The present study examined the impact of work stress and job satisfaction on intention to leave among staff including social workers, nurses, and care workers. The study subject included 235 staff in a welfare organization that provides long-term care services. Data was analyzed using multiple linear regression. The findings of the study show that work stress and job satisfaction affect intention to leave in the context of welfare organizations. Demographic variables were not the main focus of this study and thus these results are incidental. Staff with higher levels of work stress were more likely to think about leaving, while those with grater job satisfaction were less likely. There were several limitations in this study. Generalizability of the findings are limited to staff working in the province of Jeonnam. The results have important implications for the development of strategies to minimize turnover intention in long-term care. Reducing the intent to leave is desirable for issues of both cost reduction and quality of care. Managers could perhaps start to consider decreasing work overload assigned to staff. This study also provides some insight into the work status of new staff. Clearly this finding needs to be explored in further research studies. A more comprehensive model is likely required to adequately explain intention to leave the job.

  • EuiJae Hu BaekRyun is a symbol of Honam Namjonghwa and is respected as a teacher of Honam culture. He is from JinDo and is a relative of Sochi Heo Ryun and a disciple of Misan Heo Hyeong. The spirit of traditional Namjongghwa and the dignity of painting faithful to its technique have been obtained by themselves, and have made it his own. EuiJae organized a 'Yeonjinhoe' in Gwangju to raise his students. After liberation, a house was built under Mudeungsan Mountain. And showed another aspect as a social educator who emphasized and practiced national spirit while being a tea ceremony man. He excelled in Chinese poetry and painting theory, and expressed a unique field in calligraphy. especially worked as an artist good at poetry, caligraphy, and painting. EuiJae showed exceptional talent, especially in landscape painting. His tendency to paint was to follow Ye Chan's technique of drawing with a dry brush, placing importance on the energy of learning, and constantly trying new experiments with the technique of gisaeng. The world of EuiJae's works can be divided into three periods, based on the signature using the trend of painting or the change of perspective pursued, the era of EuiJae, the era of EuiJaeSanin, and the era of EuiDoin, which had a tendency of independent painting. EuiJae's contribution surpassed the artistic historical assessment that he had formed a big stem for the authentic Namjongghwa of Korean painting culture, which was part of Oriental painting. And recognizing that he was a fundamental teacher connecting modern times through the actual scenery based on NamDohwa's universal spirit and regional characteristics and the creative succession of emotions, he should inherit his passion for artistic spirit and tradition and experimental spirit.
