Development of the Reading Guidance Course for Strengthening Core Competencies among College Students (대학생의 핵심역량 강화를 위한 독서지도 과목 개발에 관한 연구)

  • Higher educational institutions face an increasing demand for developing a renewed set of competencies of college students who will live in the knowledge-based society. However, relatively little is known about what constitutes the core competencies that college students need to develop and how we can improve them. Nine categories of core competencies required for college graduates were drawn from the previous research and examples of core competencies developed by other institutions. They are analytic thinking skills, problem-solving skills, communicating skills, collaborative working skills, and etc. A reading guidance course for strengthening core competencies, developed based on the teaching and learning methods was adapted to students of LIS for one semester. Implications of these and related findings are discussed.

  • This paper has been studied about algorithm teaching methods for improving the problem-solving skills and creativity in rapidly changing information society. Especially the algorithms for teaching about computer is very important. Because it is effective learning content for finding the best solution to solve a problem and improve the students' logical thinking. However, teaching algorithms can be monotonous to children on account of using only computer and languages. So It needs to consider about the cognitive structure and level of elementary school students. Therefore, this study has the purpose to acquaint students with the principle of algorithm and improve problem-solving and creativity using games, not computer.

  • In this thesis. we present the cyber lecture system based on XML 3-tier that uses the communication network as the internet. The system was designed to analysis the existing cyber lecture system and its details and to examine web system architecture and XML 3-tier model. With the designed system, we developed the cyber lecture system. We tested the existing system for performance and problem, then we improved the method of the cyber lecture system used by XML 3-tier Model. The cyber lecture system is offered the handiness of the cyber lecture system using web interface.

  • This study is a comparative analysis of the usage level of domestic academic journals in each discipline. The purpose of this study is that the results from this analysis can be used as basic data for evaluating domestic journals which is being done in every university. I atopted citation analysis as research methods target to dissertation and core journal in each discipline. From this analysis I got some results that can be applied as a tool for evaluating journals. First, there is distindtive difference in degree of reliance on the domestic journals, therefore we have to prepare different check points for each discipline. Second, if high rank journal can't take rule power under $50\%$, we must prepare another pertinent check points to evaluate journals efficiently.

  • Because the creative thinking or idea is essential to survive at the age of competition, most of advanced nations focus their education on development of creative thinking. So many researches are being carried out in Korea, but it's not easy to improve students's creativity through teaching computer because many teaching materials and manuals are composed of the software application and simple skill. Therefore this study will present effective Creativity-Improvement Program which can develop students's creativity and be applicable to classwork through concentrating on content system.

  • Previous research on university life of Chinese students studying in Korea has been conducted on students in Korea, but Chinese students have a sense of belonging and university prejudice against Korean universities, so the objectivity of research is not clear. This paper conducted a survey of the Chinese people in China and conducted a media search for attracting foreign students. Not all foreign students are proficient in Korean language. Even students who have completed more than one year of education in the Korean language institutes or passed advanced level of Test of Proficiency in Korean(TOPIK) have difficulties in everyday life and acquiring a degree. According to the results of this study, until foreign students who lack sufficient Korean language skills are able to adapt to culture and acquire information in Korea, it is desirable to prepare multilingual content services so that they can obtain academic information or daily information necessary for studying in their native language.

Learning Effect of CAE Class Using PBL (PBL을 활용한 CAE 수업의 학습효과)

  • This study analyzes the effect of CAE class using PBL on professional knowledge acquisition and competency enhancement. The PBL class was applied to 3rd grade students of Dong-Eui University's Department of Automotive Engineering, and a one-year course, and a survey was conducted on satisfaction and effectiveness in the first and second semesters, respectively. With a significant difference in the survey for each semester, satisfaction in the second semester was found to be high, and satisfaction with non-face-to-face information exchange and team activities was high. In addition, it was evaluated to have a positive effect on the improvement of individual competency such as knowledge of subject, command-led learning, problem-solving ability, and communication. This study has educational implications in that it can be used as a quantitative indicator for class improvement and can be used as basic data for course operation.

Validation of a Self-instructional Foodservice Inventory Control System Module (집단 급식소 재고 관리 시스템에 관한 자기학습식 Module의 타당성 검증)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 1) 집단 급식소의 재고 관리 시스템에 관한 자기학습식 Module (Self-instructional Module)을 개발하고, 2) 비동등 통계 실험연구 디자인 (Nonequivalent Control group research design)을 사용하요 자기학습식 재고 관리 시스템 Module의 교육적 효과를 평가하여, 3) 교육기관 및 집단 급식소에서의 교육용 교재로서의 타당성 여부를 검증하고자 함이다. 집단급식소의 재고 관리 시스템에 관한 자기학습식 Module을 개발하기 위해서 현재 미국 전역의 가정대학 내의 식품영양 및 급식경양학과에서 재고 관리에 관련된 교과목을 위하여 채택되어 사용되어지고 있는 주요 교과서들의 내용 분석과 급식경영학 전공 교수 3인의 판단에 기초를 두어 재고관리에 포함되어야 할 내용이 분석되었다. 포함되어져 있는 내용의 목차는 반입(receiving), 저장(storing), 출고(issuing), 재고통제(inventory control), 재고의 자산적 가치(inventory valuation) 및 재고관리 시스템의 자동화(inventory control computer system)등이다. 실험 대상은 Iowa 주립대학에서 급식정보관리 (Foodservice Management Information System) 과목을 수강하였던 88명의 학생이며, 강의를 통해 수업을 받은 통제집단 46명과, 자기 학습식 Module을 사용했던 실험집단 42명으로 구성되었다. 모든 실험 대상에게는 사전검사(Pretest)와 사후검사(posttest)를 실시하였으며 자료의 처리는 SPSS PC Package를 통계법으로 분석하였다. 연구결과는 강의 중심의 통제집단과 자기학습식 Module을 사용했던 실험집단 간의 통제 후 평균 값(posttest adjusted mean score)사이에는 유의적인 차이를 보였으며 (p<0.05), 자기 학습식 Module 그룹에 속해 있던 학생들이 더 높은 통제 후 평균값(adjusted mean score)을 보여 주었다. 그러므로, 이 실험을 통하여, 개발된 집단 급식소 재고관리 시스템에 대한 자기학습식 Module은 학생들에게 재고관리 시스템에 관한 개념과 내용의 습득력을 향상시키는데 있어서 적어도 강의식 교수법과 동일하거나 더나은 교육적 효과를 가져왔다고 판단되었다.

  • Perception refers to the process of acquiring all the information about the environment through various sensory organs such as the visual, auditory, tactile, and olfactory senses and integrating and interpreting the information transmitted to the brain. The ability to use these perceptions efficiently is called perceptual skill, and perceptual skill is an important factor for improving performance in the field of sports. As a result, many researchers have developed various perceptual training programs to maximize these perceptual skills while they have also progressed on attempting to verify their effects. The perceptual skill training introduced in this study is a training method that focuses on visual perception and is a training method that is applied in the United States and Europe. to improve sports performance. As a result of carrying out the perceptual skills training based on the kicker's important clue (the kicker's hip - the angle of the body and foot before kicking) to the goalkeeper in the situation of a soccer penalty kick improved the ability of predicting the direction of the ball while even in tennis, carrying out the perceptual skills training based on the server's important clue (position, ball, racket) improved the accuracy of the ability to predict in the direction of serve. Recently, there have been numerous research studies that were carried out on such perceptual skills training, but the number of studies conducted are insufficient, especially in Korea where research studies on perceptual training seem to be in a relatively neglected state. In addition, extensive studies need to be carried out to investigate whether the improvement of perceptual skills in the laboratory situation can be transitioned to an actual performance situation. Therefore, in order to elevate sports performance, researchers need to examine the perceptual training program's extent of necessity as well as the research direction regarding its effects.

  • This research is to analyze the status of menu guides provided to inpatients in Korean hospitals, analyze the problem of delivering information, and propose improvement plans through information visualization as a part of improving service for inpatients. The nutrition department in hospitals were directly visited, data were collected, and the types and contents of menu guides were analyzed. Then, problems were found by focusing on whether there is an effective delivery of information, in terms of information visualization aspects. The menu provided to inpatients in Korean hospitals are divided into general, optional, and therapeutic menu depending on patients' conditions, and the menu guide is largely divided into a general guide and optional guide. The information covers menu, origin of ingredients, guide, withdrawal time, etc. However, there is no categorization according to the contents or importance of information, thus creating inefficient problems for patients to acquire information. The problem of menu guides is that they do not deliver information properly due to disorganized information. In order to improve this, information should be categorized and visualized according to its contents and importance for enhancing readability, which will then be able to provide menu guides that can deliver information more efficiently to patients.
